I was able to get my Epson Stylus NX510 printer up and running (after much issue), but I can't get the scanner working. I'm on a laptop, and the printer/scanner is wifi enabled and broadcasts with its own IP address. I can print with no problem, but xsane and simple scan don't recognize the scanner. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.
View 7 RepliesI got my Epson stylus NX510 all-in-one printer (just the actual printer worked, couldn't get the scanner recognized) working in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. I'm currently attempting a dual boot with OpenSuse 11.3, but when I go to download the driver for it like I did in Ubuntu (and it worked) I get the following error messages:

I am trying to set up my Epson Stylus SX420W printer (via USB) on a fresh install of 11.4. I have found a driver called 'epson-inkjet-printer-nx420-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm', which I guess is right for my Intel Core i5-system on the Avasys-site that Epson refers to for Linux drivers.
I have downloaded the driver and installed it via Right-Click -> Open With -> Install/Remove Software, which seemed to go well. When I open Yast -> Hardware -> Printer -> Add, my printer is found all right, but 'No matching driver found'. Iam quite new to Linux.
Haven't been able to get my scanner to work on my Epson Stylus CX7450. XSane doesn't seem to support my scanner. Is there a way around this?

sane-find-scanner finds the scanner but scanimage doesn't:

I do get a man for sane-epson so that hints that the epson driver exists. The fact that sane-dll doesn't seem to exist is probably the problem. I'm using libsane in the Synaptic Package Manager and that is supposed to supply the backends. Should it include sane-dll?
My printer failed recently and I was given a refurbished Epson stylus NX305 Printer scanner. Cannot get my system to recognize it. Running UberStudent (Debian based) Linux on a Dell Dimension. Have tried everything I could find on the web but nothing works. Scanner not recognized by software.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up my EPSON Stylus TX120 multifunction, and i've successfully installed the printer, and for the scanner i followd the instructions from avasys page: installed iscan-data and iscan (core) compiling them from source with no problems using --prefix=/usr in both packages, but when i run sane-find-scanner no scanner is found. If i try using scanimage -L only my webcam is listed, so, is there anything else i have to do in order to get my scanner detected in slack 13.37? I've run both commands as root, by the way.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe recently got an Epson Stylus TX550W Printer/Scanner unit, shared over Wi-Fi with both Windows/Ubuntu PC's, while I have the printing working flawlessly, I don't know where to start to get the scanner working. I've Googled, but haven't come up with much, checked the Ubuntu documentation, apparently Ubuntu (9.10 & earlier, nothing about 10.04) don't automatically detect networked printers, is there a way to get it to recognize without editing config files, which I hate doing? I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit.

I had a similar problem on 13.1, but was solved by this forum by copying 80-sane.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/ . With 13.37 the same trick doesn't work. Here is my scanimage output:

Ive just installed Fed 13 KDE, but my Epson Stylus DX7450, is not recognized and installed. (works fine on Fed 13 Gnome). So i went to Printer Config. in system settings. New printer/ New network printer. where i get an error message "Not authorized - this password may be incorrect". I carry on and input my printer details, but at the end I get another error message, "There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-forbidden'."

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to get my Epson NX420 printer to scan for about three months now, and I finally got it working. Here's how:
1. Go to [URL] and search for your printer. Select distribution and version and answer a couple of other questions.
2. Download pipslite_1.5.0-2_i386.deb, (or the 64-bit version), and all the iscan*.deb files (again, appropriate to your system).
3. [CRITICAL] Go to [URL] and download this 8.04 package which worked just fine for me on 10.10.
4. Use the Software Center or GDebi or sudo dpkg -i the .debs in this order:
1) libtdl3, which is a dependency for Step 2.
2) pipslite
3) iscan-data
4) iscan-network
5) iscan
(If you use a USB connection, you don't need the iscan-network file.) This got my NX420 scanner up and running just fine. Installing libtdl3 was the key; in fact, I used the Debian Lenny package.
I can't use my printer/scanner - it is an Epson TX110. When I try to use Image scan - I get the message; "Could not send the command to scanner. Check the scanner's status."
There is nothing wrong with the MFC apart from not working on Ubuntu 9.10. I have had it connected to another computer that ran Ubuntu 9.01 (I think that was the release used) and it ran fine but now I'm stuck -

I have an epson cx7800 printer/scanner that 11,3 doesn't detect on USB. I tried Yast-Hardware-printers and Yast-Hardware-printers and nothing is discovered/detected.

I've used windows all of my life, and never really looked at Linux, so thought it would be a good time to see outside of the box! I installed Ubuntu 9.10 a couple of weeks ago after reading a few Linux Newbie books and deciding it would be the best distro for me. Being completely new with Linux it's proving difficult doing certain things which I would have done with a couple of clicks in Windows, however I've managed to get past some of the problems after hours of searching and messing about. I managed to set my wireless network up, and with a great struggle my wireless printer using cups- which now seems to be printing fine over the network, its IP is 192.168.0.105. However even after reading lots of info and tutorials on Forums & Blogs nothing seems to work regards to my scanner (which is an all-in-one printer SX515W).
The information is completely overwhelming. I've been told to use iscan with the network plugin which I downloaded from [URL] after installing and running image scan or xscan the printer would scan for a couple of seconds and then it would stop, and I'd have to reset my printer. I read the documents supplied, blogs, and forums telling me to do certain things such as:

I have just bought and installed an HP 2050 printer-scanner-copier. The printer works fine, but the scanner is not recognised by Simple Scan or XSane.

I have Ubuntu 10.10 - the Maverick Meercat installed on my computer.
I have downloaded the hplip-3.11.3a.run file from the HP website but it is still in my download folder and I don't know how to get it from the download folder to my computer and then once that is accomplished, I don't know what to type in the terminal to get this file installed.
Heck, I don't even know if this is what I should install to correct this problem or not.
Using Ubuntu 11.04 with my Brother MFC-295cn network printer (not wireless). Printer prints, but scanner not recognized. Downloaded the following drivers and installed them using the Software Center:

I just received a Canon Pixma MX320 as a gift.
I am currently running the Ubuntu 10.04 OS
I was able to get the printer up and running by downloading the printer driver for debian linux (3.1) from the Canon site without any problems.
Unfortunately I am not having the same luck with the scanner.
I tried downloading ScanGear MP for Linux (deb) (1.3) from the same Canon site but have not yet been able to get the XSane Image Scanner to recognize this scanner driver for my Canon.
I've recently installed Karmic Koala (64 bit version) on my pc via a live cd.I still can't get my epson scanner to work so my plan was to get VirtualBox and then run xp inside Karmic.My problem is that my pc doesn't have an internet connection.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Just got Fedora up and working and trying to setup my Epson V33 Scanner, I have downloaded the Driver packages from Avasys (http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/) But when I try to install the iscan rpm package it tells me that I need libltdl.so.3, after doing some googling I have managed to find this rpm for Mandriva but I am unsure if installing this on Fedora would cause any problems?[URL].. When I looked on the Avasys site this is available as an rpm (or to be exact libltdl.so.7!)

Bus=0002 Device=004 its usb ID is 0x04b8 0x0109 I have never been able to connect the scanner using the network - if anybody can advise, I would be very grateful. Quite happy to use this if usb is going to be a problem The scanner has worked very well through the usb and wask working well with 9.04(32bit). It looks like the scanner module has not been loaded, and possibly the usbfs yet usb webcam and card readers are accessible. I have tried to keep outputs relevant & short. If I have omitted anything, you would like full results or any other information.
I am running ubuntu 10.04. I have an Epson Wprkforce 310 4 in 1. Connection is USB. I can print. I have searched for proper drivers for scanner and fax. I have found nothing for fax. I have found and installed at one time or another the following scanner drivers:

The 1st 3 installed but nothing happened. When I installed the 4th, I got a message telling me about the scan app I have installed(default with ubuntu install). Hope welled up inside. When I opened the scan app, it said it could not find a scanner. WF 310 was on hoping for a driver.

I don't know why I find so much things, if i only have one scanner. Then I opened xsane and found the scanner over network. I chose the epson with epkowa drivers I try to scan something but it dont output nothing and sometimes it gives me "end of file reached". I can put whatever config files here if you want to, just ask. One time it worked fine.. but only half of an image...
