I was able to get the printer up and running by downloading the printer driver for debian linux (3.1) from the Canon site without any problems.
Unfortunately I am not having the same luck with the scanner.
I tried downloading ScanGear MP for Linux (deb) (1.3) from the same Canon site but have not yet been able to get the XSane Image Scanner to recognize this scanner driver for my Canon.
I have a Canon Lide 100 flatbed scanner, however xsane 0.997 can't detect it.Just wanna ask you you guys add a scanner ?When I do a command line, this is what I get.Quote:[root@localhost]# sane-find-scannerfound USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x1904 [CanoScan], chip=GL843) at libusb:001:003However when I run the "Scanner Tool" from Application --> Graphics --> Scanner Tool
I was able to get my Epson Stylus NX510 printer up and running (after much issue), but I can't get the scanner working. I'm on a laptop, and the printer/scanner is wifi enabled and broadcasts with its own IP address. I can print with no problem, but xsane and simple scan don't recognize the scanner. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.
I want to get my Canon MP210 printer / scanner working under Fedora 8 Linux. When I plug the USB cable in, I get a little popup with a setup wizard, but my printer isn't even in that list. I've tried the system-config-printer wizard as well as going in through the control panels and trying everything reasonable.
I've done a ton of searching and all I've found seems geared to having your printer/scanner connected via USB cable in order to get the scanner working. I have the printer working wirelessly but thus far no go on the scanner. I've downloaded and installed the scangearmp packages.
I've tried installing the sane package via git according to this blog but when I try to run configure I see this: mustek_usb2 backend requires pthread library - disabling and usb isn't listed among the installed backends. I don't even know whether I need usb because this is wireless, but after compiling I run scanimage -L and nothing comes up. I'm still a Linux newb, and have learned a ton in the past couple of days, but this one is stumping me.
After downloading and installing iscan and run it i see this message:
Could not send command to scanner. Check scanner's status.
After command sane-find-scanner:
And this message is result of scanimage command:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
Have Karmic 9.10 ,Changed from Epson RX595 all in 1 (uses a ton of ink)Got the Lexmark Pro 805 3 in 1 because it says it supports Linux and the ink cartridge only cost $5 downloaded drivers and printer works but using Xsane Image Scanner error reports
'Lexmark_1_0_0:libsub/001/009': Device busy Using Image Scan - reports Could not send command to scanner Check the scanner status. The RX595's scanner drivers had to been manually instatlled,, in the Printer box the Lexmark shows available..
I've installed XSane Image Scanner. When I first opened it, it searched for my scanner and didn't give any error messages, and it had my scanner model in the heading of the scan window. But when I hit the scan button, it gave me saying, "Failed to start scanner: error during device I/O.I closed everything, and opened XSane again. This time it said there was no scanner available. The scanner is plugged into the USB port and uses that for both power and data. It's a Canoscan Model N650U.
I'm trying to get my Canon Pixma MG 5150 scanner/printer to work. While the 'printer' is doing well the 'scanner' appears to be stubborn. I use the scangearpm-MG5100series-1.60-1 driver provided by Canon which is said to be fine with Suse 11.2.
The trouble is, that though the scanner scans it does not deliver anything back. Here are the details:
When I run scangearmp as root in a terminal I get the following output:
Code: (scangearmp:6902): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: cannot connect to the session bus: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
I have downloaded successfully the drivers for the printer component of the MX330. The scanner drivers are downloaded, but I am unable to locate the working part of the .sh file so that I can open it. I have the .sh file in text, but do not know how to utilize it
I recently got the printer part working by downloading from canon the correct rpm also in doing this I got the scanner driver. My computer tells me it is installed but I see no program to connect with my scanner. There is nothing in xsane or simple scan to allow me access to the scanner.
1. Unless root chmod's /dev/parport0 to include o+rw, a user running xsane just gets the dialog 'No devices available'. Should the canon_pp driver be installed as su root, perhaps? CUPS uses the same port for printing without problems. Which library or executable needs to have permissions changed to change to run as root?
2. The N640P has a printer output port built in. As I have only one parallel port, I piggy-back my printer through the scanner. This does not work for xsane in Copy mode: nothing prints until I close xsane and then all I get printed is a stream of binary characters, not an image. I guess the canon_pp driver is holding the port open in such a way that CUPS sees the device as being busy. Any ideas on how to combat that? I am a C programmer and quite happy to help by hacking the code, if I have a start point. It irritates me to have to boot the print server into WinXP just so scanning and copying work without fuss.
Since installing F11, my Canon LIDE 50 scanner refuses to work. xsane 0.996 produces an error message: Failed to start scanner: Error during device I/O.
sane-find-scanner says it is there: found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x2213 [CanoScan], chip=GL841?) at libusb:001:006 But scanimage -L claims: No scanners were identified.except once when it admitted: device `genesys:libusb:001:006' is a Canon LiDE 35/40/50 flatbed scanner
I reluctantly tested the scanner on a Windoze machine and it works perfectly. And it worked perfectly under F10.
I am trying to get Canon MP250 printer and scanner working in OpenSUSE 11.3 and so far I've had limited success. Both components work up to a point, but aren't fully operational.First of all, I installed the drivers from Canon website for both parts of the multifunctional device. Here's the report on the versions (it's localised, but it shouldn't be hard to understand ).
The printer works for the most part. But it fails to set images to greyscale when I request the driver to. There are some guides about that for Ubuntu, but none for openSUSE that I could find. Also, what does the setting "Amount of Extension" in the printer options do?It would also be nice if I could set the printing quality as well. Right now it seems to print everything with the default quality setting, but personally I like using lower print quality since that saves ink and makes it a little faster.
The scanner, however, is hardly usable at all. If I try to use Canon's ScanGear MP to scan, I can hear that it operates the scanner, but the program itself freezes and after a while gives me the "Cannot communicate with scanner" error. On certain settings I can also hear that the scanner itself doesn't complete the scan (the indicator on it also reports an operation in progress, but it never gets completed). If I try to use Acquire images, the native KDE scanner application, I can get it to scan, but only on very specific settings: it must scan it in colour and the resolution must be equal to or over 300 dpi. If I try anything else, the resulting image file is completely blank or I get an "Error during device I/O". And, of course, it can't save PDF files.
During installation of Ubuntu 10.04, there was no driver found for my Brother MFC-665CW printer/scanner. However, I recently learned on the Forum that there is a printer driver available for the MFC-665CW through Synaptic that can be accessed by searching on printer name. I got it, and it works great. I've not been successful in locating a driver for the scanner part of the MFC-665CW. Does anyone know if there is a driver available on Synaptic that will work for the scanner on a MFC-665CW, and if so how to get to it (i.e., what to search on to locate it)?
I have this Epson multifunction TX-105 and it worked fine with Hardy Heron. Now i am running Lucid Lynx and cannot find a driver for the scanner part. Question: is it safe to try the old script on this new Ubuntu version..? Printer was automatically detected and it's ok. Damn scanner is the one i want to activate.
I currently have an EPSON Stylus SX400 that I've connected to my Dell Desktop running Ubuntu Lucid Linux. Though Ubuntu installed the printer at a great speed , it didn't install the scanner. Where can I get drivers to install the scanners, all the software I use do not discover a device?
Trying to find my way around I have an epson px720 all in one printer. It will print ok but unable to use the scanner function I have tried iscan but with no success.
My Brother DCP385 Printer/Scanner goes alright Printing but will not Scan. I keep getting this message: 'brother3:bus3:dev1': invalid argument. My OS is Fedora 14. Brother seems to only go up to Fedora 12 in their driver page . There is no mention of Fedora 14 .
I have been looking through Brother drivers and can get the drivers for Brother DCP385C printer and scanner but the scanner will not work . It keeps telling me "failed to open device - 'Brother3:bus3;dev1':invalid argument" . I have looked into the Brother site but it does not tell me what to do for Fedora 14 . It only goes up to Fedora 12.
Ok, installing the Epson DX8400 printer driver was easy... I just turned it on, and Ubuntu searched and installed the printer itself.
But scanning... that's another story. In Ubuntu 9.04 the trick was as simple as installing libsane-extras in Synaptic, but this doesn't work in Ubuntu 9.10! When I try to run XSane, it simply replies that there is no available device...
Your scanner is installed properly and fully function. If you need to install your scanner first, have a look at the ScanningHowTo. To check if your scanner is connected and installed properly you can use the command "scanimage -L". The machine we're configuring to use as the scanner server has the ip address 192.168.1.1 and subnet-mask 255.255.255.0. This means that this machine is on the 192.168.1.0/24 (CIDR notation) network/subnet. code...
I am interested in buying a small portable scanner since I'll often use it on the go and the one I'm looking at is the Fujitsu Snapscan 300. There is a M version, the 300M that's said to work with Macs. My situation is I have a Mac at home and want to be able to use it with that so may have to get the 300M but also on the go I use a laptop that uses Mandriva Linux. My question: Will the 300, hopefully the Snapscan 300M work with Linux? I want to make sure it will recognize the scanner. Also, assuming it works what programs would I use to scan? I want to be able to scan into both jpgs and pdf's.
I have a Plustek 9636T parallel port scanner. Has been faithfully working for me for years up through Fedora 8. It has a kernel driver that I build and install every time the kernel changes.
I finally bit the bullet and did a new install of Fedora 12 to get up to date. But now when I try to build my kernel driver and install it, I get this fatal error on the modprobe:
FATAL: Error inserting pt_drv (/lib/modules/2.6.31.12-174.2.3.fc12.i686.PAE/kernel/drivers/parport/pt_drv.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
Examining dmesg shows: Unknown symbol proc_root. I can't find that message anywhere on a Google search.
