Using Fedora 14. Printer usb connected and recognised with correct driver: Foomatic/PXL mono (Recomended). Will not print test page or anything else. Nothing seen in print queue.Iinitially choked by SElinux (since deleted). Still not working.

I like ubuntu alright, but prefer Debian overall. Before I reinstall Debian I was wondering if during the install if the latest release would automatically recognize the Samsung ML 1665 as the latest ubuntu release did. If not, how does one get the printer installed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn Printer installation, the ML-1740 printer is recognized, and the driver for the ML 1750 is recommended. When either test page or other page is printed, job shows in queue, then shows as completed, never gets printed. Cables look fine, Printer worked fine with F11.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed linux 'uberstudent'and find it doesnt recognise my floppy drive but more importantly I cant install my printer a samsung ML4500 laser. There are readme files (reproduced below) but I just dont know enough about the system to know what to do with them " does it mean anything to anyone ? I am a bit reluctant to experiment with terminal incase I mess up the entire system ! also could their be a connection between this and the floppy not working ?
1.AUTORUN will not run
2.clicking cdsetup.exe and selecting 'open with archive manager' results in : 'an error occured while loading the archive'
3.clicking cdsetup.exe and selecting 'open with wine windows programe loader' results in 'samsung printer setup window'etc, and it appears to load normally until 'PROGRAM ERROR 'DAC1.EXE encountered problems and has to be closed.

I have been printing with this laser printer (connected via LAN) for months without a single glitch, when suddenly today I had to quickly print a document. I could not print it. At first I thought the printer was off, then I double checked it was on. I restarted the CUPS server, reinstalled the printer in CUPS, nothing will work. When I send a print job, (I am using XFCE btw), I see the printer icon in the tasktray and it has a small warning sign.
Opening the print queue, I see "Processing - Printer Warning". In cups, I see nothing unusual. It says (in the printer queue): processing since Sat 25 Jun 2011 10:13:30 AM EDT. I can print a test page FROM the Printer web interface, confirming the printer works. I can print with the other printers. CUPS detects the printer and does not report anything unusual. What is going on with CUPS?
I upgraded from 10.04 and I like 11.04 alot. I had a slight problem with wireless but got that ironed out. My LIDE 210 scanner now works too. But my Samsung ml-2250 printer is not working properly now when it was in 10.04.
If I print out any type of document it runs through all the paper in the tray. I printed out a test page and the actual test page had a bunch of characters in one line at the top, then one line below that it said "you are using the wrong driver".
I've reloaded the splix in synaptic twice for samsung drivers but still the same results. I have no idea what 10.04 used for drivers. Also, I can stumble my way around Ubuntu in the terminal, but best to just think of me as a noob.
I already noticed that others had similar problems with other Samsung scanner / printers. I could not find any solution in any threads (other than going back to 11.2 or buying a printer from a different vendor), so I'll ask again here: I'm running openSuse 11.3 on a 64 bit system.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have Fedora 11 and am trying to install Brother HL-2170W Wireless laser printer. I installed it and used CPUS but cannot print. SELinux is enabled. On Brothers site there is an FAQ about SELinux and CUPS. [URL] I followed these instructions but still cannot print. Jobs get queued. Under Printer properties -> Policies, there is an Enabled checked. For some reason when I check this Enabled box and click Apply, the changes do not take effect. Then Enabled checkbox gets uncheck again.
I cannot even print a test page as its status shows Pending.
Has anyone installed successfully a Canon LBP3000 laser printer?I would like to make it work under F14 and F15.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung N130 with a Realtek 8192 wifi card (possibly 8192e, I'm not sure) and I am trying to run Fedora 12 on it. I used to run Ubuntu until trying their latest beta and realizing it's not very good, so I looked for something else. Ubuntu was at least easy to get the wifi working with just a few quick commands that were written out, word for word, in order, on the Ubuntu forums. I tried openSUSE on here and it didn't have wifi working out of the box either but people on their forums refused to give me actual instructions and just kept bumping me from thread to thread with people giving vague advice or else just telling me I was looking in the wrong place. I'm hoping that someone can give me clear and detailed instructions on how to get this wifi card working. Keep in mind that I am coming from Ubuntu and so I'm not super comfortable in CLI, if I need to do some CL stuff I will need clear and detailed instructions on how to do that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI expected more from ubuntu 10.4 with regards to printing with exact size photos and with poor auto colour printing but the situation remains unchanged! for instance .. the photo size configurations for ubuntu/fspot/gimp and others are not compatible with my printers (HP and Brother) .. here in Europe a typical standard size photo (10x15inches or 150x100mm are not even on the Ubuntu listing? I have tried all listed possibilities including "custom" (which does not seem to ever work correctly?)and the result at best is photos with uneven boarders or at worse my printer goes a bit crazy with much wasted photo paper and expensive ink ...even photos selected for "no boarders" still produces photos with the self same uneven boarders.
I have tried pretty much everything over time following advice in this forum and including using HPlip and updating drivers required for my Brother printer but the root problem seemingly lies with the Ubunto photo size setup listing. Working with Ubuntu over the years I have found that it can do pretty much everything that Windows can do except for this dam ongoing photo quality and configuration problem.
Tried installing all the Samsung ML-**** from the list. PS Getting really tired of booting XP every time I want to print something.

It looks as if I'll get a deal I can't turn down and sell my old original Android phone and get a new Verizon Android. They also have a tablet, there is the present 7 and a half inch screen and a newer ten incher coming out, the smaller one is heavier but I could get it for a relatively low price. it has a usb port. Question is can I dual boot Gnome3 on it? and can I then update it? And can Gnome3 do the touch screen thing? Using Fedora of course. Or should I put the tablet off for a while?

When I'm running Mac OS X, I can connect my 720p Samsung television to the computer through its mini DVI port and the computer will go into a mode that will display on the television.
However, when I'm running Fedora and connect the television nothing happens. What can be done to allow the laptop to display on the television when it is using Fedora?

and can access the storage. when booted into the minimal installation, other usb devices such as usb sticks can be accessed and mounted successfully. what i'm missing from my minimal installation that is preventing the samsung storage from being accessible ?
I'm struggling a bit to install F11 on my laptop. When I put in the cd, i get to the menu. I elect to boot into the live cd, then my pc reboots and the menu comes up again...
