When I was running FC10 my scanner just plugged in and worked. I must have lost something.

And of course xsane/gimp say Not Avail. I've made sure all the (yum) sane sw is loaded and updated.

I have not been able to get my Epson Perfection V100 scanner to work with Lenny. The correct driver files have been downloaded from Avasys and installed.

Should make this scanner usable in slackware. I had this working on a slackware 13.1 (32 bit), now I am trying to get it going in slackware64 13.37.
The scanner is detected by sane-find-scanner:

However this fails to recognize the scanner model (which was ok in 13.1 32 bit) and then it also fails to work with scanning anything (scanimage, or xsane abort and the scanner never makes any noise).
I'm suspecting that there is some problem with the library contained in iscan-proprietary-drivers.
In OpenSuse 10.3 I was able to use my Epson scanner using the plustek-driver.After upgrade to 11.2 I can not use it anymore.
sane-find-scanner recognized the scanner

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've installed the epkowa backend for the V300 scanner. Communications from Chuck56 and Alien Bob were helpful. The core, data, and esci-interpreter packages are installed, epkowa.conf and dll.conf seem properly configured. sand-find-scanner, lsusb, scanimage -L all report correctly. xsane works normally, and iscan initializes, and produces a preview image. scan however fails citing 'not enough space for operation,' although GBs are available. When iscan is closed, these errors are reported:

My system is running Slackware v. 13.37, Linux v. 2.6.37.6-smp.
I switched from Sidux to Ubunbtu Lucid yesterday. On Sidux I had to struggle a little but to get this scanner working but at the end everything was fine. However on Lucid no success, I googled around and followed different instructions found in the www. sane-find-scanner and scanimage -L can find it (but it takes some time for scanimage -L) however I cannot scan and the scanner also does not react at all. The reaction of iscan and all the other scanning software is not consistent, error messages vary. A am thinking about switching back to some older Ubuntu version in case that I cannot get it running, I need the scanner in order to send fax

I'm running OpenSUSE 11.0 (64 bit). I have an Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer that used to work just fine. Apparently there was an update to the CUPS software that I applied and now the printer is no longer working.
Through examining the error_log file in /var/log/cups I found that two files were missing from /usr/lib/cups/filter. These files existed in the /usr/lib64/cups/filter directory so I linked them to the /usr/lib/cups/filter directory. That cleared up two errors.
When I send a "Print Self Test Page" command from the CUPS Printers page, I get the following error:

When I attempt to send a print job from an application like gedit or OpenOffice Writer, I get the following error:

I've crawled all through the openSUSE forums and 'googled' all sorts of variations for these errors and found nothing useful. I'm hoping someone here might have a clue as to where I might go next to fix this.
Like I said, it was working before and now it's not so there must be something in a recent CUPS release that has messed things up.
i use linux OS with ubuntu and i have installed my printer (epson stylus photo tx650) but when i print it prints black pages on and on and doesn't stop,though if i print using my windows xp laptop and using the same USB cable, it prints,hence this shows me that some settings on printer configuration are not well set and i fail to know which are these settings. its only printing i cant do but i can scan and even photocopy.

I am using xsane, and it does not recognize the scanner still, though in the past doing this worked on other distributions of Linux....is there something else I can do? I tried running xsane as root and it still didn't recognize it.
I have bought a so-called web'n'walk stick, which identifies itself as a "Globetrotter HSDPA Model". I managed to get it identified as a serial device (initially, it is detected as a USB drive), but I fail to get it working.

I'm about to start a project which will take 12 to 18 months to complete. A major part of the project is the use of a scanner in fact it cannot proceed without scanner use. I have two scanners a Canon lide30 and a Medion N11652 with the ability to scan 35mm photographic slides. Xsane does not recognise either of them. From what I've been reading Ubuntu supports only a few scanners. I've recently purchased a professional photographic printer. While searching for a suitable printer I noted printers are not stand alone units these days. The units are multifunction the computer stores have row upon row of different brands and no stand alone printers. I feel sure these multifunction unit scanning abilities are enabled and used by linux users out there.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWith Lucid I was capable of scanning both with my Epson Perfection 640 U scanner and with my HP-M1120n-MFP network scanner. To get the HP-M1120n to work I had to rename a file which I do not remenber which was. I do not remember where I found the instructions. I am running HPLIP 3.10.6 with Device Manager 15.0. I did a fresh install of Maverick Beta and I am not able to neither scan with the Epson Perfection scanner nor with the M1120n-MFP. As said, both worked with Lucid. As said I had to rename a file to get the MFP scanner to work. I include screen shots to this post.

I'm planning to setup an FTP folder which will be public facing, this will mostly be Windows document (e.g .doc files, .exe files etc) I do not want my folder to have any Windows based viruses (or linux ones for that matter), thus I need a way to prevent infected files being distributed via my FTP. View 3 Replies View RelatedI booted Debian in Live mode on a USB to try to see if the internet will work on my Linux machine before I actually install it (there is some tricky internet software where I live that I must overcome, but that will come in another thread).
Currently I have no WiFi whatsoever. When I go into the internet access menu I only get back the fact that there is a wired connection that's possible (theoretically, I should be able to also see networks to which I can connect to, but I don't). Also, it's impossible for me to actually get a wired connection going, unless I can somehow give it through my Windows laptop.
When I did some research, the people seem to say that I need to update the driver after enabling the use of non-free software; I can't do that since I have no connection in the first place.
The OS recognizes that the PCE exists (I am using asus pce-ac68), when I did "lspci" command it told me I have BCM4360 and BCM43225 chips.
I think I found the drivers here "[URL] ......" but I don't think my chip is listed there (there is no BCM4360 or BCM43225 on that list). What to do with those drivers, I mean how to compile them and install them on a Debian machine, and I'm not sure I can even install them on a live boot (but I want to make sure my internet works on the live boot before I actually install the OS).
