I switched from Sidux to Ubunbtu Lucid yesterday. On Sidux I had to struggle a little but to get this scanner working but at the end everything was fine. However on Lucid no success, I googled around and followed different instructions found in the www. sane-find-scanner and scanimage -L can find it (but it takes some time for scanimage -L) however I cannot scan and the scanner also does not react at all. The reaction of iscan and all the other scanning software is not consistent, error messages vary. A am thinking about switching back to some older Ubuntu version in case that I cannot get it running, I need the scanner in order to send fax

When I was running FC10 my scanner just plugged in and worked. I must have lost something.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOk, installing the Epson DX8400 printer driver was easy... I just turned it on, and Ubuntu searched and installed the printer itself.
But scanning... that's another story. In Ubuntu 9.04 the trick was as simple as installing libsane-extras in Synaptic, but this doesn't work in Ubuntu 9.10! When I try to run XSane, it simply replies that there is no available device...
just started to use Linux and after installing a few distro's have settled for Opensuse 11.2 gnome as it suits me, however i seem to be having problems finding a driver for the Epson Stylus R240 printer. Is there an alternative driver that is compatible for this printer, (I really don't want to have to go back to windows because of a printer driver)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried to configure this printer and clicked on "add printer" but the drop down menu did not contain my printer. Does this mean that the printer driver does not exist?
When I tried to print out a test Open Office document it came up with "printer error" However Open Suse did recognise my printer as a DX6000.

I am searching for a printer driver for my Epson Stylus NX420 Printer/Scanner. Should I use a generic Epson driver from the extensive default list, or is there a better driver out there? re: I'm running OpenSuse 11.2 and KDE

I have downloaded the driver since opensuse11.2 couldn't auto install it. I log in as root and execute the installer but it cant create files or folders. Example(dont know how to copy from the pips window):
Install pips-snx110_3.7.0-2_i386.deb. ()
cp: cannot create regular file `/usr/local/EPAva/printer/snx110/uninstall-snx110.sh': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `/usr/bla bla bla
bla bla bla bla
Startup ekpd-tool...
installation is complete... (yeah right^^)
I just switched to openSUSE. I was using Debian based linux before.
I'm having getting my scanner to work, It is an epson cx4800.
I know that it works with sane because I was using it before, on my other systems it was just a matter of changing epson.conf :
Code:
I am using xsane, and it does not recognize the scanner still, though in the past doing this worked on other distributions of Linux....is there something else I can do? I tried running xsane as root and it still didn't recognize it.
I've installed the epkowa backend for the V300 scanner. Communications from Chuck56 and Alien Bob were helpful. The core, data, and esci-interpreter packages are installed, epkowa.conf and dll.conf seem properly configured. sand-find-scanner, lsusb, scanimage -L all report correctly. xsane works normally, and iscan initializes, and produces a preview image. scan however fails citing 'not enough space for operation,' although GBs are available. When iscan is closed, these errors are reported:
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.2.8
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.4.5
libpng warning: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
My system is running Slackware v. 13.37, Linux v. 2.6.37.6-smp.
I've recently installed Karmic Koala (64 bit version) on my pc via a live cd.I still can't get my epson scanner to work so my plan was to get VirtualBox and then run xp inside Karmic. My problem is that my pc doesn't have an internet connection.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using Ubuntu 10.10 for almost a year now and I'm really happy with it. I completely uninstall windows from my computer I'm able to do everything a used to do on Windows now on Linux, and even more... except for one thing... I cannot see the ink levels of my printer. It's a multifunction Epson Stylus TX110. I installed escputil and used the command "sudo escputil -i -u -r /dev/usblp0", the printer then starts making noise and no matter how long I wait, it never presents any info or displays the message: "device is busy" with no info about the ink levels.
