Debian :: Apache2 Timeout - Server Idles On About 80~ish Tasks Constantly
Apr 12, 2010
Im running a Debian 2.6.26-2-amd64 webserver with apache2 only on a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz that has 2GB of ram in it. I installed htop a few days ago and have been looking on it for a few days now. the server idles on about 80~ish tasks constantly with arond 20 apache tasks/connections to it all the time and the cpu usages of the 2 cores at about 1% each. but asoon as more apache2 connections/task get started and the servers tasks reach 120-140~ Apache2 timesout if you try to go to the webpage i host on the server. when it's back down to around 80~tasks you can reach the webpage once again. why is this ? what's causing this to happen ?
I have made a server using a bananapi. The bananapi is an embedded linux mini PC, using an allwinner A20 SOC. This server boots and runs from an uSD card, and logs data from sensors to an attached 1TB hard drive. This works OK, but the hard drive consumes a lot of power (about 2.5W), this essentially doubles the amount of power needed. I am planning to power this setup from an accu, therefore I would like to keep power consumption as low as possible.
I am planning to let the application log to the uSD card. After a while the uSD card is almost full. At that moment I can wake up the HD, move the data to the HD, delete the data from the uSD card, set the HD to sleep, and wait until the uSD card is full again. Is there some clever way to do this? I can do this with basic shell scripting, but then I get all kind of issues like open files that are copied to the HD while they are still being filled by the logging application. This would mean they end up on the HD incomplete.

I have 2 computers on the same network that i need to link together to transfer files 1 is a web server the other is a minecraft server. the problem is that the file transfer will be constant as the minecraft server will constantly updates files on the web server and I dont want it to go to the router then to come back to the web server. I want to add a second network card to each computer and link them together and use this second connection to transfer the files is it possible?
I have suse10 64 bit installed. I am setting up a svn server on it. After installation and adding the modules ,while reloading the apache2 it's throwing the error as: HTML Code: httpd2-prefork: Syntax error on line 113 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 31 of /etc/apache2/sysconfig.d/loadmodule.conf: Cannot load /usr/lib64/apache2/mod_dav_svn.so into server: /usr/lib64/libsvn_subr-1.so.0: undefined symbol: apr_memcache_add_server
I have a Debian 5.0.7 installed to my server. I try to install Apache and SVN to this server. I use this tutorial: http://www.howtoforge.com/subversion...-ubuntu-server But is unfortunately not working.
My apache virtual host configuration file is:
Code:
This passwd file containing 1 user:
Code:
The rights for the passwd file:
Code:
And apache2 is running like this:
Code:
And if I try to login to my page I got an "Internal Server Error" page.
And my error is in the apache log is this:
Code:
So I'm a little bit confused about it. The apache2 should have rights to open this file. I checked it, the file is exist and the apache2 is have rights for it. I don't understand it.
How to configure Web authentication against RADIUS server on Debian Jessie, because the package libapache2-mod-auth-radius is not available on debian mirrors.
I would like to know what happened to this package and what is the newest way to configure radius auth. Some people have told me to compile this package, but is there not an easier way to do that?
I have no idea why, but my website times out as soon as you try to use the cart.(which invokes SSL)It seems to have happened after I went live from testing, but I checked my configurations, and I can't see anything awry in my apache2 confs.Has anyone run into this before?I don't know how or why this happened or how to even begin fxing it
I just set up a Squeeze server for a friend of mine using my exact apache2 settings. He has been playing around, having a bit of fun learning HTML, but he ran into a problem where one of his images would not display. I at first figured his HTML was incorrect, but after a very long time of trying to figure out the problem, I still do not know what is going on, so I think it must be an apache2 problem?[URL]..
I've used mod_rewrite to rewrite my apache2 root (my.server.com/) to point to /var/www/drupal6/ instead of /var/www/. I also have a script installed in my cgi-bin (/usr/lib/cgi-bin) but since the rewrite I can't seem to access it. When I go to my.server.come/cgi-bin/test.pl, I get a page not found from my drupal.
Is there a way I can access my cgi-bin without resorting to accessing my drupal through my.server.com/drupal6/?
Background: I have installed drupal CMS which has a base address of my.server.com/drupal6/ as it resided in /var/www/drupal6/. However I wanted users to be able to access it as my.server.com/ so I added the following into my httpd.conf
Code: NameVirtualHost *:80 <Directory /var/www/drupal6> RewriteEngine on RewriteBase /
I tried testing mail from the command line as I've never used it.
Code:
It sits there and does nothing. I waited ten minutes...still nothing. Killed the firewall, same gig. Obviously this is user error but what I'm doing wrong is unknown to me.
I set the default os to boot as windows 7 with a timeout of 1 second. I thought that this would be enough time to switch os ubuntu when i need to, but I am unable to. How can i reset the timeout to 3 seconds? I also cannot view the ubuntu partition within windows because of ubuntu's file system.
Over the past few days, I've noticed that administrative tasks sometimes fail to start. I'm asked to enter the administrative password, "Granting rights" appears in the bottom panel for a few seconds, but then disappears. I'm using Debian Lenny. This is only an intermittent problem, and if a task does fail to start, it will start on the next attempt. Tasks which have failed to start are:
*Launching Synaptic form the System menu. *Launching a root terminal from the Applications menu. *Launching Nautilus with root privileges from a terminal using gksu.
After coming across the following post, I thought maybe it was an issue with kernel 2.6.32-bpo.5-686, because I'd recently upgraded to that kernel too, but I'm advised that that isn't so.It was suggested that something else from backports might be causing the problem.
I'm using Debian 6.0 on an Optiplex 960. My system constantly freezes. When I move the mouse (or press a key on the keyboard), my system resumes execution for approximately 2 seconds, and then freezes again. This problem is not restricted to Debian,'ve ncountered similar problems with other linux distributions on my hardware. I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this problem before, or had any ideas about how imight be resolved. I'm copying my hardware information below.CPU INFORMATION
processor: 0 vendor_id: GenuineIntel cpu family: 6
I am running a minimal debian "Squeeze" system with xfce and recently noticed a marked slowdown in my samsung nc10 netbook performance; with all other applications closed htop revealed the following process eating up cpu which explains the slowdown. Previously cpu idled at about 10%. The user is root unlike all the other processes:user:rootpu:70% command:/usr/bin/x :0 -audit 0 -auth /var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7
So I'm having troublesome issues with Debian 8.2, one of them being really costly to my productivity. This issue started maybe a month or so back, and has been continuing since. Laptop is a Toshiba C50-B-14D
During every freeze all those happen:
Screen freezes (The whole display becomes frozen, with only cursor movement - Time displayed stays frozen too)No keyboard input (even Cap & Num Lock leds will not dim once pressed)Power button (pressing once will do nothing - I have to hold for an unhealthy shutdown and reboot)Touchpad Input Works (Cursor responses to movement only, clicks/change on-hover do not.) Fans become quiet
Today at 11:46, it happened while just running Chromium. At the time:
*XFCE4 Power Management Plugin Presentation Mode [on] Charger was connected
Here is the syslog (I know this isn't useful as it doesn't show what's causing the issue) the freeze happened at 11:46 and 11:57 is when I rebooted back into debian.

I also started noticing an INFO rcu message during startup:

I have an external hard drive (1TB MyBook) mounted via fstab by UUID to a directory. When copying/writing/reading a lot of files from it, it randomly unmounts and remounts as a different device.
It'll start as /dev/sdb1, I'll set a lot of files to copy to it and then it'll unmount and re-acknowledge itself as /dev/sdc1, the file copying process will crash and the current directory in terminal will display an I/O error. Running mount -a remounts it back to the directory specified in fstab as /dev/sdc1 and the loop continues. If it's just idling, there's no issue, only does this under load.
Im currently installing debian on my old server, its a 64bit computer, so i've downloaded the amd64 for this project. But under the Basis Installation, of this cd image, im getting a debootstrap warning every time i want to continue the installation, the last warning i remember was something coreutils_6.10-6_amd64.deb (Something like that, not totaly sure), and im lost, can't find anything closely related to the subject.
I use WLM (And yes, I realise odds are this is a problem on microsofts side) and almost every time claws mail connects WLM returns a new certificate. Valid, but I have to constantly accept or deny the certificate. Why is WLM pumping out fresh certs all the time and how can I fix this?
Whenever this pops up whatever I have at the moment shows "Signature status: No certificate issuer found" and the other shows "Signature status: Correct".
I setup Debian a few days ago and everything was working fine. On a routine reboot to test a start-up script I turned the monitor on and realized that I could not logon to the machine locally. None of my keyboard input was making it to the username field but random things were happening. Every now and then it would say stuff like incorrect username or spontaneously jump to the password input field and then say incorrect password. I've rebooted a couple times, even without a keyboard attatched and still am seeing this. In /var/log/auth.log I show gdm going nuts trying to validate usernames.
Oct 18 12:15:16 Eva gdm[3287]: pam_nologin(gdm:auth): cannot determine username Oct 18 12:15:16 Eva gdm[3287]: pam_nologin(gdm:auth): cannot determine username Oct 18 12:15:16 Eva gdm[3287]: pam_nologin(gdm:auth): cannot determine username
I have an office with +- 20 PC's and would like to change over to Linux. I have decided on Open SUSE for the workstations, and would like to know what will be the best server to use. The work stations are for basic everyday office tasks. The servers main function is data storage.(I would also like it to function as an email server).
As I have developed a part of my project based on crontab and now one of my team member has raised a question based on performance and load/stress, I would like to know the following limits of crontab.I assume each line in crontab file is a task; and also crontab would hold completed and pending tasks.1. How many tasks (both completed and pending) could crontab hold/handle?2. Will crontab run as expected if there are 100s of completed and less than 100 pending task?
ive played around with cpusets and now have some processes that cant be moved to the main group /dev/cgroup/tasks. echo pidinquestion >/dev/cgroup/tasks results in:
bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument. how can i move these tasks? or remove the process group alltogether, rm -r is not working. permission denied?
I have a perl script which runs a mini webserver allowing me to do various things. I'd like to have this script run when the machine starts up, and constantly run in the background. How should I achieve this? I want the script to regardless of whether anyone is logged in or not, so I can't put it in any bash-related files.
Using Wicd and it keeps dropping out or telling me "bad password" when the password is in fact correct. I even know it works because the first couple of times it worked, but the connection wasn't sustained for more than a few seconds each time. My reasoning is my wireless is functional in Ubuntu, there's no reason it shouldn't be in Debian. Wireless network card is ASUS PCE-N13. Ralink driver is installed. WPA-supplicant is installed. Gnome Network Manager is also present, though I've heard that it doesn't support my particular situation.
I am thinking of installing a Linux mail server and use it for my company. We are about 3 people that using emails and i do not want do spend a significant amount to get an exchange server. However, i need a mail server that i will be able to get the functionality that exchange server provides such as emails (to my mobile, web access, and using outlook client), calendar, tasks and contacts. Can you reccomend me which Linux mail server should i use for all the above functionality?
My KNode gets a 'timeout on server' when loading newsgroups. I've read that you should tweak the server timeout (settings -> configure knode -> accounts newsgroupserver -> edit -> server timeout). However, when I try this out the properties window of my news server has no 'server timeout'. What can I do now?
I am using samba 3.0 on rhel-4, it works fine i am getting the share folder in linux and windows xp as well with username and password for first time only then for next time it will not ask me the username and password for samba user. Actually i want to fix idle-timeout and password authentication for user every time the user want to access the samba share folder.
