What is the name of the package needed to obtain thumbnail previews in Konqueror?I'm still running Lenny, so I need the name of the relevant KDE 3.5 package. Google searches return too many useless results, so I'm hoping someone will remember the name of the package.
View 4 RepliesSince I upgraded to 11.3 I don't see that the View > Preview mode is broken. Image icons are created, but they all look like the icons in the picture below. When I move the zoom slider the largest sized icons come out fine. Anyone an idea how to solve this problem? Is there any repository that I can use to get more recent versions that should have fixed these bugs? I just noticed that PNG images come out right, so it could be something related to JPG files.

I just installed KDE and I had 2 minor problems with Konqueror:
1) Every time I emptying the trash, I'm getting the error message: "The file or folder /...path here.../.Trash-1000/files/...filename here does not exist.". Seems like I had deleted this file, and before emptying the trash, I deleted somehow this file outside Debian installation (probably from a live cd). Other than that, trash is working OK. I'm just wondering if there's a way to get rid of the error message. (Of course emptying the trash from command line, doesn't brings any message).
2) Konqueror stopped displaying thumbnails of JPGs, PNGs etc. (with the exception of Photobook view, which is not very convenient for large number of photos).
I bypassed this problem, installing d3lphin (since dolphin is not available for lenny), and browsing the photo catalogs with it.
I'm trying out Konqueror on Debian Lenny. I'm annoyed by the sounds it plays along with message boxes (for instance: sound of a breaking glass on message boxes showing an error). I can't neither find any setting for that nor I've been able to find some general setting.

If I use Konqueror to start Konsole (by pressing F4) and then run:

If I start Konsole directly, I do not receive any such errors.
Testing an upgrade Etch>Lenny 5.08, and one issue I've found is that "sudo konqueror" in a teminal no longer gives root priveleges, instead konqueror starts with limited rights. It also seems that using a .desktop shortcut, an attempt to run konqueror under any credentials other than the logged-on user fails.
Yet, 'sudo kwrite' works. Anyone met this before, or know why?
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and my problem is with this one video the preview icon in nautilus will not load for me. It's encoded the same as the other 120 videos on the drive and plays just fine in totem. I copied the video from another drive and the preview icon for the video is present on it. Just seems like it's not even attempting to create a preview icon, is there a way of making it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am probably, over looking a simple option or such, but I can't get WebcamStudio to show my desktop instead of this default preview. I have selected Desktop in source and in output is set to Show Splash Screen preview... But how do I get my desktop instead of the Splash screen preview, and I would like to use this for ustream or justin.tv. Rigth now, ustream sees the option for WebcamStudio, and see the preview, but I can't figure out how to change the preview to the input of my desktop.

I have developed an audio problem; although continue to get sound with kaffeine and aamrok, firefox recently quit playing sound; no software updates were performed, it just quit. It has always been buggy, like audio would cut out if another program tried to play a sound and firefox and/or aamrok would have to be restarted. this is different though, it's nothing to do with a conflict it just doesn't work. It won't play sound from flash videos from the internet or locally but I can see the vids, and it won't play mp3's (these both will play fine with aamrok or kaffeine). It worked fine until all of a sudden, Also, konqueror is exhibiting the same behavior as firefox, and it too used to play sound just fine.
I have already used yast to update anything to do with "codec" "xine" "flash" and "firefox"
I have open suse 11.04 with KDE installed but cannot play flashes with Konqueror. With Firefox I cannot problem. What can I do ?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04, and usually I record my desktop with the program "Record my Desktop", the format of the video is: .ogg, when I had Ubuntu Karmic Koala, I recorded my screen then in kdenlive added audio and effects and all's right, but now i update to Lucid Lynx, and trying to edit my video in Kdenlive and I obtain this screen(I attached my screen), I noticed that the new video that I record after the upgrade of Ubuntu, I can't view the preview with Kdenlive, but with the old record, I can view the preview. And also i noticed that with pitivi, the new program to edit videos of Lucid Lynx, works fine, with new and old recordings, don't have problem.

I am using KDE, 3.5.10 Linux 2.6/26-2-686 on an Eee-PC note book. When I try to configure Konqueror web behavior, the window is bigger that the screen and no scroll bar. It won't let me reduce the height of the screen. I can make my changes, but the apply button is off the screen. How do I do the apply?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter I manually installed multimedia codecs, like w32codecall, I got Linux to play movies and I also got thumbnail previews of them in Dolphin. However, I noticed that recently Dolphin doesn't display my thumbnails anymore. I don't quite recall whether the any video player could use my installed codecs, at least xine works. The only thing that could have caused that is actually the automatic system updates I received. I still have my multimedia codecs installed, but Dolphin doesn't show the movie previews anymore.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAt some point after one of the many updates I do to my system, I seem to have lost the ability to preview myself on cam. Simply put, software like CamStream and Cheese just give me a black screen when I open it up. So, I cant see how I look on cam and what's in or out of the shot. If I tell Cheese or Camstream to capture a still, there is no problem. In fact, that is the only way I can determine what the camera is seeing of me and my background.
The only "solution" is to either have Cheese takke my pic and determine from there (as just mentioned), or go on a video chat room and have it use my camera to give me a real-time look at what the camera is aimed to. As someone who creates webcam videos for upload, and sometimes needs to move the camera while still live, this is not convenient so I hope to fix it.

Could not grab image (select timeout): Resource temporarily unavailable.Seems that GUVCview gives me the best articulation of what the problem is. I have both a built-in webcam for my laptop as well as a USB one. Both seem to have this problem so I know its a case of some part of my software being the trouble.
I'm not too sure what causes this. But why do some video files display a thumbnail preview in Nautilus and others don't? See screenshot below.

One has a mac and the other a windows machine. I really don't have anyone else to test this with as most people i know don't have webcams.

I can preview these file types locally, but not in the network storage.
I have tried changing: Edit > Preferences > Preview
So that:
Show thumbnails: Always
Only for files smaller than: 1GB
This has had no effect, i still cannot preview network jpgs and pngs for some reason.
I was looking for some film info and ended up at the Apple quicktime website. Clicked on the video preview option (expecting nothing to happen) and it played in a kaffeine window.

Looks like no sound in rendered file either! So no sound at all with Cinelerra....
p.s. I have sound working fine with all of my other programs. And working with same files on Kdenlive, Kino or Pitivi, all give me sound no problem. Running a basic Karmic Ubuntu Studio 32bit setup.
Hi. I work with large image files. On my ubuntu laptop, the 20 MB files take forever to form the little preview thumbnail icons on the desktop, and everything freezes up until they generate.
I'm poking around my preferences and options, but I can't seem to find a way to tell Ubuntu that I don't want it to form preview icons. Is there some way to turn them off?
I remember reading a thread about creating preview icon for MP4 files, but can't find it, does anyone know how to do it?
