I am using KDE, 3.5.10 Linux 2.6/26-2-686 on an Eee-PC note book. When I try to configure Konqueror web behavior, the window is bigger that the screen and no scroll bar. It won't let me reduce the height of the screen. I can make my changes, but the apply button is off the screen. How do I do the apply?
What is the name of the package needed to obtain thumbnail previews in Konqueror?I'm still running Lenny, so I need the name of the relevant KDE 3.5 package. Google searches return too many useless results, so I'm hoping someone will remember the name of the package.
Is it possible to install Firefox xpi extensions into Konqueror? I can't find anything about this. All I can determine is that this xpi is a compressed directory with javascript and config files.
I use the default Inkscape 0.48.5 r10040 on the default 32 bit Debian Jessie with Gnome 3.14.1 and since I installed it I can't apply some font cuts which actually do work in other applications and did work on previous versions of Debian/Inkscape.
The cuts do show up as options in the "font/style" selection menu and i can use different versions from for example "Roboto" but if I - for example - select to use the "Semi-Light" variant of Roboto it just doesn't get applied after all. (I know that many fonts do not have any font variations and Inkscape confusingly just shows at least "italic" and "bold" as options in the style list anyway.) In this case the font variant is actually there, I can use the same font variants in Gimp and I was able to use it in previous versions of Debian/Inkscape, but not now.But I noticed instabilities in Gimp, Inkscape and Scribus lately. Gimp just consistatly vanishes when I try to scroll through the font selection menu and Scribus takes ages to load and does crush from time to time without any clear pattern to me. I don't think this is caused by Roboto itself since I used it in the past without such problems.
Should I remove all custom fonts and try if everything works ok again or does this approach sound rather foolish to you? Unfortunately I need most of the additional fonts I installed for different projects and I had them on my system in the past also without having such issues. I could however remove all custom fonts and include only those absolutely needed one by one ...
I just installed KDE and I had 2 minor problems with Konqueror:
1) Every time I emptying the trash, I'm getting the error message: "The file or folder /...path here.../.Trash-1000/files/...filename here does not exist.". Seems like I had deleted this file, and before emptying the trash, I deleted somehow this file outside Debian installation (probably from a live cd). Other than that, trash is working OK. I'm just wondering if there's a way to get rid of the error message. (Of course emptying the trash from command line, doesn't brings any message).
2) Konqueror stopped displaying thumbnails of JPGs, PNGs etc. (with the exception of Photobook view, which is not very convenient for large number of photos).
I bypassed this problem, installing d3lphin (since dolphin is not available for lenny), and browsing the photo catalogs with it.
I'm trying out Konqueror on Debian Lenny. I'm annoyed by the sounds it plays along with message boxes (for instance: sound of a breaking glass on message boxes showing an error). I can't neither find any setting for that nor I've been able to find some general setting.
Funny problem just began occurring in Debian Lenny.
If I use Konqueror to start Konsole (by pressing F4) and then run:
perl -le '{print "hello"}'
The result is:
perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = (unset), LC_ALL = (unset), LANG = "en" are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). hello
If I start Konsole directly, I do not receive any such errors.
Testing an upgrade Etch>Lenny 5.08, and one issue I've found is that "sudo konqueror" in a teminal no longer gives root priveleges, instead konqueror starts with limited rights. It also seems that using a .desktop shortcut, an attempt to run konqueror under any credentials other than the logged-on user fails.
Yet, 'sudo kwrite' works. Anyone met this before, or know why?
I'm using squeeze. I wanted to know how you could determine from the command line in tty1 (or tty2 through tty6) what the resolution was that text was being displayed at. Is there a way? I know that in grub, you're supposed to be able to go to the command line and type vbeinfo. I tried this and got some information, but somehow I think it doesn't always apply to the terminal after the computer has booted up.
i couldn't get out after many hours of reading documents/posts/forums etc.
The issue:In Kde 4.4.5, using xorg and radeon opensource driver, i can't set OpenGL for desktop effects. Clicking "Apply" it fails. OpenGL seems corrupted someway. I have to stay on XRender. This is the glxinfo output:
glxinfo | grep OpenGL OpenGL vendor string: Mesa Project OpenGL renderer string: Software Rasterizer OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 7.7.1 OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20 OpenGL extensions:
The story:i was running previously kde with nvidia propertary driver and a nvidia board. Then i removed the board for a fault and put a sapphire radeon HD5450. Initially i set up propertary radeon fglrx. At the end, i decided to use the opensource drivers, removed in the best way all fglrx files and links. So i then followed the wiki for reinstall open source radeon drivers, did it many times, also reinstalling xorg with purge, same for libgl1-mesa-xxx etc, but i still cannot use the OpenGL hardware support (should be DRI, that is correctly installed but not loaded).
Seems to be really an opengl corruption, if i disable the check on apply, and select OpenGL rendering, i get a complete blank screen.
Some information of the system: 01:12 ] angelo@angel3 [~] cat /proc/cpuinfo processor: 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 code....
After installing Bind DNS and configuring our zone, we got the following error message when clicking on "Apply Zone": NDC command failed : rndc: connect failed: 127.0.0.1#953: connection refused
Just updated to 4.3.5 from the stable repository, now I cant open Konqueror, I get Dolphinpart and fsviewpart errors. "An error occurred when loading View module of Dolphin. Complement dolphinpart uses a library from KDE which is incompatible" Rough translation of the error message, same from fsview.
I sometimes use webkit in Konqueror to view certain sites, but lately I haven't been able to since Konqueror crash everytime I activate webkit. I searched for this issue on the web and found among others this:.. I downgraded Flash to 10.0.45xxx and it seems like Konqueror runs fine with webkit now. However I now got this message browsing Hattrick.org:
icedteanp plugin error: Failed to run /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window. This error only occur when using webkit, not with KHTML.
I have the following problem with konqueror. Eveytime when I am trying to enter https://localhost:10000 (this is webmin) or https://localhost:631, konqueror asks me in a popup the following (translated from german):
"The authentification of the server has failed. The certificate does not suite to the server. The certificate has not been signed by a trustable authentification authority"
Then I press "continue". Then the next popup appears asking me: "Do you want to always accept this certificate without any request" And the possible buttons are "always" or "only this session". The problem is that I always press on "always" but obviously konqueror is not remembering this certificate since I have to press all the buttons a hundred times in the ongoing session and every new session. In firefox, I was only asked once and the certificate was stored in list. Does anyone know how to fix this problem in konqueror??
Has anyone had any joy with the above combination? I had the current beta and the square flash versions working fine but when I changed the konqueror engine to webkit I can't get ..... to work.
I can use Konqueror to browse my filesystem but not the web. One of two things happens: 1) Either it just crashes, or 2) it displays an "Operation could not be completed" error page. The former occurs if I type something into the address bar that may require some guesswork, like yahoo.com, and in this case I may get a chance to restart the session. The latter occurs if I type a complete url like ... or if I type a term in the google search box. It suggests disabling the firewall; I have, to no avail. Same thing happens with rekonq but not with epiphany or firefox or chrome. I use openSUSE 11.4 with KDE 4.7. This problem occurred after upgrading to 4.7 - not sure if it was immediate upon upgrade - but before recent issues with the R47 repo. Of course, hoping to fix Konqueror, I updated all of my R47 packages and got caught up in the black screen problem, but now that's resolved and Konqueror still crashes.
I like Chrome but want Konqueror as a backup, no need to install other browsers as long as it works, but I suppose that's the alternative. Downgrading Konqueror would downgrade its library and dolphin as well; I'd rather avoid that, as I had a weird issue with my mouse getting "trapped" in an app in 4.6 - I could still work inside that app, but clicks did not register in other apps or plasma generally, such as the start menu or the "x" button to close the app in question on its own window decoration. This issue has not recurred in 4.7, so I'd rather keep the version than keep Konqueror if it comes to that.
I am trying to stick to using only one browser (Konqueror) instead of having to switch to firefox for listing items on ebay. The problem I am having is that Konqeror does not display the wysiwyg editor for listing my item. I usually just copy and paste my template in, but the html tab is not showing up either. If I start my listing in firefox and then open it up in konqueror it displays the wysiwyg just fine, so I am not sure why it couldn't just work from the get go. I have tried changing browser identification but had no success.
So I just decided to use Konqueror because with Webkit it was actually usable and I like some of its features more than those of FireFox. My problem is that after setting the font size I want everything is fine, but once I open a new tab the font size gets better and it's pretty annoying. I'm running Konqueror and KDE 4.6.4.
In a script that I run manually after I have logged in, I have the following:alias kq='konqueror &' The intention is to run konqueror in the background. What happens is as follows. A. I run kq; it starts konqueror but does not return to the command prompt. I quit konqueror. B. I run kq again ; it starts konqueror and this time I get a the command prompt. If I quit konqueror and run kq for a 3rd time it behaves as in A. Quit and run it behaves as in B, and so on..
I'm having Fedora 12 distro. I read there is convenient program to manage file system called Nautilus or Konqueror. But I don't understand how to run at least one of them. It is written I must click "Run" in the main menu but no word where to find this main menu.
