Jul 2, 2011I have open suse 11.04 with KDE installed but cannot play flashes with Konqueror. With Firefox I cannot problem. What can I do ?

Slackware :: Konqueror Not Picking Up Flash Plugin?
Sep 1, 2010I installed 13.1 on my machine, and now find that Konqueror won't pick up the flash plugin, no matter where I put it. It finds the libnpjp2.so and skypebuttons.so plugins, but not the flash one. Am I missing something, or is it a KDE4 quirk?

Mar 17, 2010Sometimes in BBC iPlayer - Bigscreen the fullscreen video does not open on top, and then none of the lirc remote control commands (irxevent) function, not even Escape (nor Alt-TAB, which would bring the fullscreen on top if I used the keyboard - but sitting in the TV couch I would prefer using the remote only).
This often happens on my SuSE 10.2 partition, especially when wanting to resume a video, but never happens on my Kubuntu 9.10 partition. Both are 32-bit using KDE 4.3.5 Firefox 3.5.8 and Adobe Flash 10,0,45,2.
How can I get the fullscreen on top??

Aug 15, 2010In my frustration to get adobe flash working in firefox I deleted the /usr/lib/flash-plugin folder. Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.

May 1, 2011I have a big problem with the flash plugin... Since a couple of weeks ..... and some internet sites with flash content don't work... sounds load and playback correctly but I see a grey square instead of the video.
One weird thing is that ..... videos work perfectly when tagged/embedded in another site, such as facebook or a gmail chat, but on the ..... official site I can't see a thing.

Aug 30, 2010Opening any flash video with the flash player plugin cause my CPU to go to 100% (even more but I assume that's just top reporting dual core or something. I want to watch ..... and stuff without burning up my CPU so I need to fix this.

Although I did install the package flashplugin-nonfree, in debian that I'm a little more used to flashplugin-nonfree provided libflashplayer.so and not flashplugin-alternative.so which seem to be the one all my browsers are using. However about plugins in firefox says very little except "application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash". Can I just replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so and maybe make some links or something or would that be bad?
The process using my CPU is reported as plugin-containe but it only happens with flash video and not any other plugins. If the video is playing, paused or stopped/not started makes no difference. I did replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so, it didn't help. Seems firefox was using that plugin all along, presumably from here "/usr/share/ubufox/plugins/". I can't imagine I'm the only one who wants a fix for this here, there should be hordes. I use the latest kbuntu, flash player, firefox and kernel all from the repo.

I'm using gnome and compiz on top. Jul 8, 2010I have developed an audio problem; although continue to get sound with kaffeine and aamrok, firefox recently quit playing sound; no software updates were performed, it just quit. It has always been buggy, like audio would cut out if another program tried to play a sound and firefox and/or aamrok would have to be restarted. this is different though, it's nothing to do with a conflict it just doesn't work. It won't play sound from flash videos from the internet or locally but I can see the vids, and it won't play mp3's (these both will play fine with aamrok or kaffeine). It worked fine until all of a sudden, Also, konqueror is exhibiting the same behavior as firefox, and it too used to play sound just fine.
I have already used yast to update anything to do with "codec" "xine" "flash" and "firefox"

Jan 23, 2010I have a Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD (and I plan to keep using it as just a LiveCD); this works fine.
Firefox works fine too, and installing a flash player plugin is all right.
The problem appears when I reboot and see that Firefox no longer has the flash plugin installed.
So I tried making a persistent image USB stick for this, added the persistent keyword at the end of the boot options, and Firefox still forgets that it can actually play ..... videos.
The persistent image USB seems to be doing something, at least browsing through it shows several folders, for instance /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin which constains a file libflashplayer.so
It's just that Firefox doesn't seem to care. What else should I do?

Aug 6, 2010Or at least that's what I figured, when watching videos from ....., etc., the sound in the left channel turns into distorted high frequency noise, anyone had the same issue? Is there a fix for this? Sound in other applications works just fine.EDIT: Oh, and I'm using the proprietary flash plugin, has worked just fine on my Ubuntu Studio on the exact same computer.

I can't figure out what's different between the distros. In both cases, I'm using a 64-bit OS, Firefox and KDE, and the proprietary NVIDIA driver. Anyone know what might be happening, or more importantly, how to improve Flash stability and performance on 64-bit openSUSE?

Mar 11, 2011After installing 11.4/LXDE which comes with FF 4 Beta, The openSUSE Flash Plugin package was automatically installed, but doesn't seem to be installed into FF properly. When FF > Addons is opened, no Flash plugin is listed. If you then attempt to install install Flash from Adobe, Adobe doesn't seem to recognize FF 4 as a supported browser.
On top of that, if you visit the nVidia site to explore OEM display drivers, their site is Flash driven and won't permit driver searching, must less browsing and possible downloading. This was important to me to try to obtain the OEM nVidia Configuration Manager which vastly enhances display management, particularly on the somewhat lean LXDE desktop.

Nov 5, 2010After update of adobe plugin to version 10.1.102.64 (10.1.r102) plugin crashes if I try to switch to full screen. Previous plugin (10.1.53.64) worked perfectly well. Anybody with the same problem? My system is System76 Gazelle, Ubuntu 8.04 with all latest updates, nvidia drivers.

1. Same effect in Google Chrome, which uses its own plugin 10.1.r103
2. Same effect (both in Firefox and Chrome) on Thinkpad T41 with ubuntu 8.04
I downgraded plugin to r53 for now, but it's not a good idea, last update fixed some security issues.
OpenSUSE :: Total Firefox 3.6.3 / Disabled With Shockwave Flash Plugin?
May 23, 2010ever since i updated to firefox 3.6.3 on my opensuse 11.0, it has been crashing instantly on loading videos and gmail.
i have done all of the obvious things. run in safe mode, uninstalled and reinstalled including deleting the entire profile, reinstalling the flash player and adobe reader plugins, disabling all extensions (in fact, i have no extensions installed at all now) - nothing works!
i have put a request in to the mozilla forums, but nobody has an answer.
i am able to get firefox to load the videos page only when in safe mode and with the shockwave flash plugin disabled. it still crashes instantly on gmail.
when i go into the yast installer to look for older firefox versions that i might downgrade to, the versions list is in such tiny type that it is unreadable. every other font is fine except that one versions list! it's driving me mad that the one thing i need to see in order to get a working firefox is invisible to me due to some obscure bug.
