Debian Multimedia :: Jessie KDE Does Not Show File Manager With Dvd-rom

May 7, 2015

When I insert a dvd-rom I dont get the option for the file manager. I do get k3b, vlc, dragon and two other options. Im guessing this is a bug since this didnt happen with Wheezy. When I insert a dvd data disc I do get the file manager option. Strange this is, after inserting the data disc, removing it and then reinserting the dvd-rom I see the option for file manager. How can I get the file manager option to show everytime I insert a dvd-rom? I tried to,create a new option in system setting but man is that stuff confusing.

i,want to be able to browse a dvd-rom movie/video using dolphin when i insert one. I want open with file manager to be one of the choices. I think file manager is the choice.

Debian Multimedia :: Minimalistic File Manager For Icewm?

Sep 4, 2010

I installed Debian 5.04 with only "basic system", then xorg and the proprietary nvidia driver, then iceWM. ( I had to give up on KDE and Gnome because KDE was incredibly slow, and both of them had a heavy emphasis on visual decorations while I wanted minimalism. ) It was interesting and fun to get this far - and it all works. Now I need a file manager. This page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... e_managers has a chart. This enabled me to rule out the ones that don't have OSI-type licences (GPL or similar), and those which don't offer a "list view" of files. That still leaves 20+ choices. I've looked at some of the project sites but they don't give the information I'm looking for. I could install one after another, but I'm not sure whether apps can be removed without leaving a lot of debris like on Windows, and it may be quicker to ask.

My problem with file managers has been that they default to an "icon view". There's usually an option for a "detail view", but it has to be set over and over again, for every new window. I want one that can be configured to *always* give text-based file lists, without having to repeatedly set this option. (I don't mind command line usually, but having to type filenames and paths all the time gets tedious.)So my criteria are: * GPL or equivalent* Fast* Minimum "eye candy"* Can set it for text lists with details, just once and it "remembers"I've searched here and on Google but haven't found which ones (if any?) fit this description.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Install Realtek HD Audio Manager?

Feb 23, 2011

I downloaded the file from Realtek's website. It says it's for Linux/Unix so I assume it's also compatible to Ubuntu. I attempted to install and even made a video about it here:[URL]... I tried again with the from the root terminal (sudo su root command) but no luck. I emailed Realtek and thiss is what they said:

[Code]...

I understand most it, but I don't know what they mean by "patch" I have searched the entire folder for patch but nothing returned in the results. Maybe I have to download the correct file from somewhere else? I tried searching for it, but I have no luck finding it. I had Ubuntu installed for over a month and never tried compiling software before until when I tried to install Realltek HD Audio Manager.

Where do I install the correct and most recent file and what do I do to install it?

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Rip Audio From One .mp4 File And Then Generate One .mp3 File

Dec 19, 2010

So I use the following to rip audio from one .mp4 file and then generate one .mp3 file.

Code:
caleb@linux-vmp1:~> ffmpeg -i a -ab 128000 -ar 44100 01.mp3

Obviously, this takes a file named a and makes a file named 01 that is an mp3. It works great and I have used it many times. The problem is, I would like to rip the audio from several files all at once. I am sure there is a way to do it but I haven't stumbled upon the way to do it.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Separate Vocals From Audio File?

Jun 10, 2010

I'm looking for a program that will allow me to remove the vocal from an audio file, and also provide the ability to remove background noise (as much as possible). I have an audio recording for a presentation we did at work recently, but the quality of the recording is not the best and there is quite a bit of background noise. I would like a way to clean up the file and amplify the vocals. I tried to use Audacity for this, but couldn't get it to work. Has anyone used a software program that provides this ability?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Extracting Audio From MP4 Video File

Jul 17, 2010

I'm trying to extract the audio from an mp4 video file and convert it to mp3 using ffmpeg. The problem is that the resulting audio file is only 3m2s long, whereas the video file is 8m15s long. Anyone know why the audio file is being truncated? Am I doing something wrong? Apart from being truncated the mp3 file plays perfectly. Here's what ffmpeg has to say about the video file:

Code:
Seems stream 1 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 59.83 (59834/1000) -> 29.92 (359/12)
Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'Part1.mp4':
Duration: 00:08:15.60, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 541 kb/s
Stream #0.0(und): Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo, s16
Stream #0.1(und): Video: h264, yuv420p, 1152x720, 29.92 tbr, 29.92 tbn, 59.83 tbc

And here's the command I'm using to extract and convert the audio:
Code:
ffmpeg -i Part1.mp4 -ab 128k Part1.mp3

Ubuntu :: File Preview To Depend On Folder View?

Dec 29, 2010

I want nautilus to use file preview or not depending on what the view is for that folder. I want file preview to be enabled if I am using icon view, and disabled if I am using list view. This way image folders will be previewed (because I have set such folders to icon view), and other folders wont be (because they default to list view). I also want the desktop to be always previewed. This seems like quite a simple and common-sense desire, but I cant find out anywhere how to do this. At the very least what I'd like is the ability for force preview for a folder if I want to investigate it more closely - even if I have to click a button of select something to do so.

Ubuntu :: File Preview In Nautilus On 11.04 On Networked Home Drive

Aug 2, 2011

We have recently upgraded to ubuntu 11.04 64bit from 10.04 and 10.10 in a networked office in which our home directories are mounted on a server raid array. Ubuntu considers that the home directory is a local drive rather than on a networkWe have noticed that file preview are very very slow in 11.04 for pdf's and pictures in nautilus, causing a lag of around 10 seconds for each file. This can cause a problem for folders which hold multiple files which can be previewed. Preview worked fine in previous versions of ubuntu on the same machine, with the same network setup. Previewing of actual local files works faster, but is slower on 11.04, than previous versions.

Both the 10.10 and 11.04 systems are up to date with available updates (11.04 - 2.32.2.1 and 2.30.1 on ubuntu 10)Obviously, there is a work around for this problem - turn off preview. But, it would be nice to turn it on as its a useful feature.

That can generate the same (or maybe more) info automatically?
