im using 10.04, however when i hover over mp3's they dont start playingl like they used to. In nautilus>preferences i see that the audio is set to preview so i dont get why its not workng? if any1 can offer me the solution to this, i'd be much obliged.
View 9 RepliesI am probably, over looking a simple option or such, but I can't get WebcamStudio to show my desktop instead of this default preview. I have selected Desktop in source and in output is set to Show Splash Screen preview... But how do I get my desktop instead of the Splash screen preview, and I would like to use this for ustream or justin.tv. Rigth now, ustream sees the option for WebcamStudio, and see the preview, but I can't figure out how to change the preview to the input of my desktop.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have used a quite obscure device called Cideko AK0b [URL] .... for quite some time now and it has worked perfectly for almost 2 years now, both in Wheezy and in Jessie. However since I made an dist-upgrade a while back the mouse has totally stopped working. The system works through wifi - strangely enough - but everything else works. Keyboard and gamepad buttons. The manufacture says the things doesn't work on linux and so far I have proved them wrong.
But now the mouse is just out right dead no matter what I do. Have looked into mouse autosuspend but no avail so far. My suspicion is systemd but that is as good as any guess.
Running 3.14-2-amd64.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and my problem is with this one video the preview icon in nautilus will not load for me. It's encoded the same as the other 120 videos on the drive and plays just fine in totem. I copied the video from another drive and the preview icon for the video is present on it. Just seems like it's not even attempting to create a preview icon, is there a way of making it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04, and usually I record my desktop with the program "Record my Desktop", the format of the video is: .ogg, when I had Ubuntu Karmic Koala, I recorded my screen then in kdenlive added audio and effects and all's right, but now i update to Lucid Lynx, and trying to edit my video in Kdenlive and I obtain this screen(I attached my screen), I noticed that the new video that I record after the upgrade of Ubuntu, I can't view the preview with Kdenlive, but with the old record, I can view the preview. And also i noticed that with pitivi, the new program to edit videos of Lucid Lynx, works fine, with new and old recordings, don't have problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAt some point after one of the many updates I do to my system, I seem to have lost the ability to preview myself on cam. Simply put, software like CamStream and Cheese just give me a black screen when I open it up. So, I cant see how I look on cam and what's in or out of the shot. If I tell Cheese or Camstream to capture a still, there is no problem. In fact, that is the only way I can determine what the camera is seeing of me and my background.
The only "solution" is to either have Cheese takke my pic and determine from there (as just mentioned), or go on a video chat room and have it use my camera to give me a real-time look at what the camera is aimed to. As someone who creates webcam videos for upload, and sometimes needs to move the camera while still live, this is not convenient so I hope to fix it.

Could not grab image (select timeout): Resource temporarily unavailable.Seems that GUVCview gives me the best articulation of what the problem is. I have both a built-in webcam for my laptop as well as a USB one. Both seem to have this problem so I know its a case of some part of my software being the trouble.
I'm not too sure what causes this. But why do some video files display a thumbnail preview in Nautilus and others don't? See screenshot below.

One has a mac and the other a windows machine. I really don't have anyone else to test this with as most people i know don't have webcams.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter I manually installed multimedia codecs, like w32codecall, I got Linux to play movies and I also got thumbnail previews of them in Dolphin. However, I noticed that recently Dolphin doesn't display my thumbnails anymore. I don't quite recall whether the any video player could use my installed codecs, at least xine works. The only thing that could have caused that is actually the automatic system updates I received. I still have my multimedia codecs installed, but Dolphin doesn't show the movie previews anymore.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI didn't know how else to word that. In 9.10, if you held the mouse over the volume indicator icon on the top menu bar, the current volume would pop up. Same went for the network indicator - hover over it and the current status popped up. Same with the battery indicator. Now with Karmic, I have to actually click on the icons to get any information.

I'm using the Human-Clearlooks theme on Lucid (Gnome) with compiz/nvidia driver.
I'd like to have the scrollbar sliders a bit (only) more visible. Ideally, it would switch orange when I hover it with the mouse, and stay gray otherwise. This is because my screen is quite large, and when the slider is small I find it difficult to find its position.
1. I opened the gtkrc file and set colorize_scrollbar = TRUE in the engine "clearlooks" block. Now the scrollbar sliders are always orange. I'd really like to have them orange only on hover.
2. There is a "clearlooks-scrollbar" style. I tried adding (fg|bg|base|text)[] in it. I found that:A. fg[] is for the arrow within the top and bottom square boxes
B. bg[NORMAL] and bg[INSENSITIVE] define the color of the box containing the arrow (or if colorize_scrollbar = FALSE, the color of the whole scrollbar, including the square boxes and the slider itself)
C. bg[PRELIGHT] is the color of the box containing the arrow when hovered
D. bg[SELECTED] is the color of the slider (permanent)As it was most unsuccessful, I tried to force the murrine engine for the scrollbars only. Now with bg[PRELIGHT] = @selected_bg_color I get something fairly close to my expectations.
Only I'd like the bar to be pre-lighted not only when the mouse is over the slider, but as soon as it is over the scrollbar. Here I must say I'm at loss, and I really can't find how to do it.

Everything works the way it should except once I 'click' with my pen. After I press down to select something or paint, I can't get the hover feature to return. Well it returns if I unplug and plug it back in. It's kinda hard to use a pen tablet when you can only move the cursor when painting/dragging.
I've never had this issue the last time I used my tablet (Ubuntu 7.04)

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynix on my HP laptop with WUBI. When I start up my computer and choose to start with Ubuntu, it shows no errors. When I login, I can do anything just fine (I have had to resort to right-clicking on the desktop and opening documents and things from there) until I hover over the Panel or the Cairo Dock, when instantaneously the computer freezes and refuses to do anything at all, no matter how long I leave it (I left it on over night and it still was frozen - the screensaver hadn't come on or anything). The only thing that still works is the mouse, that will still move around, but obviously if I try to click on anything then nothing happens.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an asus 1215b laptop. For some reason, when I plug my mouse into any of the USB 2.0 ports it doesnt work. However, these same ports work perfectly to coppy files onto pendrives or external hdd. However, the USB 3.0 works perfectly for everything. The last thing I expected was the newer 3.0 to work and not the older 2.0. btw, my mouse is a generic, brandless laser mouse (it is an inhouse brand of PC CITY stores: PC LINE). I have never had any problems with it before.

Looks like no sound in rendered file either! So no sound at all with Cinelerra....
p.s. I have sound working fine with all of my other programs. And working with same files on Kdenlive, Kino or Pitivi, all give me sound no problem. Running a basic Karmic Ubuntu Studio 32bit setup.
My mouse isn't working when I plug it in, it's a USB Logitech Wireless Mouse and it doesn't work unless I boot with it plugged in then it stops working eventually.
