Debian Hardware :: Using The Squeeze Has Gotten The DCP-8065 Driver From The Brother Website To Work?

I would like to know if anybody using Squeeze has gotten the DCP-8065 driver from the Brother website to work. I am running x64 and have followed the directions precisely (ia32-libs, etc.) but still no dice. I have been using the ubuntu version (brother-cups-wrapper-laser & its dependencies) and that works fine. I just want to know if anybody has gotten this to work and what they did that may have been different from the directions given.
I have searched the WEB cannot find a driver, trying to print a document via USB.If I could find the specifics I could write a driver, though I have not done that kind of work for years.
I have bought a BrotherHL-1110 laser printer. But there is no driver on my system. I have downloaded source code but don't understand how to compile it. (
It does only exist driver-packages for 32 bits: hl1110cupswrapper-3.0.1-1.i386.deb and hl1110lpr-3.0.1-1.i386.deb)
My system is: Release 7.8 (wheezy) 64-bit Kernel Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 GNOME 3.4.2 AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 245 Processor × 2

How do I compile and install it on my computer ? ( Or get the printer working ? )
I am trying to get the QL1060N to print and cut under Jessie.
I used the Ql1060N on wheezy (cups 1.5.3) with the standard Brother driver and the ptouch/foomatic driver of the QL550. They both worked out of the box.
On Jessie (cups 1.7.5): I first tried the standard Brother driver from here: [URL] ....It didn't work at all. When I print, Cups tells me that the job has been completed, even though nothing has been done. Sometimes I also got the error "job canceled, filter failed", but I can't reproduce this error...
The foomatic/ptouch driver for the QL550 prints like it did before, but doesn't cut the lables automatically like it used to in wheezy. (I'm using the same printing file/picture as in wheezy and also the same configuration.)
I installed Debian Squeeze with no issues. I went to install latest Nvidia driver as done previously with Lenny. Used instructions that worked on lenny from "the trooper" [url]
Downloaded th latest driver for my GeForce 7300 GS vidio card, driver package NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.12.run
Used "method # 2 as described in HOW TO,as it worked perfectly in the past on Lenny. Only syntax I changed was instead of gdm I typed gdm3 as it appears that is the new name for gnome in Squeeze.

Now the trouble showed up, Unfortunatly I can only go off my memory. A question was asked stating that something did not match, it needed a 3 and the driver had a 4 version or somethng of this sort. then it asked if I new what I was doing (and I lied) and selected yes. And whammo, it didn't work. (This question was asked when i did in Lenny and it is working perfectly still on that system). I now can not boot to GUI, I notice when system boots it starts in "S" mode although I select normal boot from grub2.
Not too bad if I got to reinstall as little is on the system. I just want to know what I am missing on the instalation deal or should I be going about this difrently with Squeeze.
Just installed squeeze on a new laptop(had been runny Lenny on my older one with no issues, but no sound or wireless on the new one).I decided to install the ATI drive for my Radeon Mobility 4500(or some close revision) because the fan is constantly running and based on some other postings, it seems that it could be the graphics card causing it.Downloaded the driver from ATI's site and it seemed to install fine but when starting X.
I want to install VGA driver on debian squeeze. my VGA is "Intel Corporation 82G33/G31 Express Integrated Graphics Controller".I do not know which driver I must install for this VGA.Does Linux recognize related driver ?
hHey i recently installed Debian Squeeze 64bit over my Ubuntu & Windows, i got everything installed and running including all programs i need without a single problem The one thing i havent been able to do yet is install the Nvidia Driver for Geforce 8800gt, ive searched a few sites but one site is telling you to do this way and the the is telling you to do it another way then people are saying about having errors when xorg updates and stuff.
So i was wanting to know whats the easiest and best way to install the Nvidia Driver package (from nvidia website) onto Squeeze 64bit, i've done it on lenny but cant remember ow
If i get this working then il probaly use Debian as my main OS from now on.
I have this PC that came with W7 installed..i am removing it to install Debian Squeeze.I already have burned the 8 DVDs plus the Squeeze Kde CD.AFAIK, BCM 4312 is a proprietary driver, not shipped with Squeeze, but present as source in Unstable..I have already downloaded the files also... will the built *.deb be enough to enable my wireless, or to i still have to do it by hand. remove confilicting modules, build the module, insert it, put it in the corresponding filder. does the deb install do all that, or do i still have to do it, "the good 'ol way"?

I have a feeling that apt-get is not searching the web, yet searching a CD perhaps? After doing that, nothing happens, and my apt-get still doesn't work, everything I try and install like build-essential says it's not found. Also when I su nano /ect/apt/sources.lst the list in nano is empty???
I'm currently running a dual boot with windows xp/debian but as soon as I can get everything working, I'm going to turn this into a full linux system. Also my sound doesn't work, but my sound is HD sound that goes via the video card, I have it hooked up HDMI to my LG tv/monitor, sound works fine on xp. I think once I get the video card drivers installed it should possibly fix my sound issues at the same time.
From the wiki page I know the ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 card is no longer supported by the new fglrx driver in squeeze. Is there a way to use the older driver from lenny? I'm on the radeon driver and the glxgrears performance is pretty low.
Alright, Lenny has a working "fglrx-driver" package for my laptop, but Squeeze does not. Would it be possible to install the one from Lenny on Squeeze since Squeeze has newer libraries and such? I know I can't install new stuff with older libraries, but can I install the old stuff with newer libraries? I am at the end of my rope here! I mean ATI sucks and we all know this, but I've always found a Linux/open-source alternative that worked, until Squeeze.
I am using the latest squeeze (2.6.32-6 kernel) on a Thinkpad X100e.Most things works fine (after some tinkering though) but I cannot install the official ATI driver.I have tried:1) Downloaded the latest official drivers from ATI's site.a) If I choose install, it says that everything works but the driver is not actually installed. After reboot I don't have X anymoreb) If I choose build packages for Debian testing, the packages are not built. 2) Downloaded the not so latest official drivers. Same as in case 1)3) Tried to install them with the sgfxi script. The script reports a success but still after a reboot, I have no X.4) Tried to apt-get install fglrx-driver package from sid. Everything installs fine, after reboot I have X but no 3d acceleration.
I am trying to build the ATI fglrx 10.12 driver using the ATI installer on debian Squeeze 64bit.

Did some one solved the problem how to install Laser Printer Canon LBP2900 at Squeeze? The driver (version 2.20; in the documentation stays that they were tested some of previous versions at Debian 5.04 or like) I found at the Canon's site doesn't wish to be installed at Squeeze, but somehow I succeeded at Ubuntu 10.04 and Ubuntu 10.10...

He had tried kinds driver to install it; from fglrx, ati, radeon & radeonhd ; and also with kind ways. But they are gave same result, when login screen should appear, but it didn't. It's just showed blank black screen with blinking '_' (underscore) at top left. This is his Xorg.0.log when using radeon driver, via recovery-mode (text based) :
according to [URL]... glx server only supported in 2.6-32-21-generic. so to get 3d rendering support i need to compile a that kernel version in squeeze or install from sid/experimental?
I have successful installed debian squeeze 32bit on my pc. I like very much The vlc i have installed via software but After install vlc don't start don't appear don't do nothing any one know there is a problem with Vlc On squeeze?
During installation of Ubuntu 10.04, there was no driver found for my Brother MFC-665CW printer/scanner. However, I recently learned on the Forum that there is a printer driver available for the MFC-665CW through Synaptic that can be accessed by searching on printer name. I got it, and it works great. I've not been successful in locating a driver for the scanner part of the MFC-665CW. Does anyone know if there is a driver available on Synaptic that will work for the scanner on a MFC-665CW, and if so how to get to it (i.e., what to search on to locate it)?
Since upgrading my laptop to Squeeze, terminals (tested Gnome terminal and xterm) show simply a "$" prompt; machine, path and username are missing. What's really annoying though is that tab completion doesn't work, it inserts a tab character instead. Fooling around showed me that typing in the command "bash" brings everything back to what I'm used to. So in my dire newbiness do I ask, how do I reenable bash as the default shell for these programs?
Does this latest nVidia driver (version 260.19.12) work with the default Linux kernel in Debian Squeeze? And does it require any additional packages before installation?
(I cannot test it myself, since it's my brother who recently bought a new nVidia card)
I use a net install CD to install the Debian 6.0.1(squeeze). After installation of gnome, I use apt install the mplayer. But when I use the mplayer open a avi file, it failed. The mplayer don't crash but give the following instruction:
Mplayer interrupted by signal 6 in module: filter_video - MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc version. If you thin it's MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. [This binary of MPlayer in Debian is currently compiled with '--enable-debug'; the debugging symbols are in the package 'mplayer-dbg'.] I don't know why this happen, because all the package is installed with apt.
Anybody else using this printer? I have tried the driver direct from Brother, requires cups and the driver.Both installed, both fail. I read on another forum to try a Brother HCL type and it works, but why?
I just installed Maverick 64-bit on my new Satellite AMD 4-core laptop. I've run into an issue with the fact that Brother does not have a 64-bit driver for my Multi-Function Laser printer. They recommend force installing the 32-bit driver. I have made sure that all the 32-bit library and all the folders exist per Brothers instructions. However, I'm confused on what command I need to type in the terminal window to actually do the install. Can someone recommend the proper command to force install the 32-bit driver? Or should I download the source code and compile? I don't know the proper method for compiling a 64-bit driver either.
I'm trying to download this driver with my UBUNTU 11.04 but theres so many steps I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I downloaded SUSE but I dont know how to get it to run. I'm also in the process of downloading Cups But I don't know what to do with that either.
I cannot find a driver for the Brother MFC-490CW printer anywhere. I tried using the CD that came with the printer itself but that doesn�t have any PPD files on there... Apparently they deemed it unthinkable that a Linux user might want to use their equipment.
Is this card supported in Squeeze by either the non-free firmware or the proprietary driver? I just got one to stick into an older box that will be going to a college girl that wants the 3D desktop in KDE. The built-in video was a joke and wouldn't even work without compositing. It was one of those crappy, non-standard pieces of crap known as a "Unichrome" (not the pro).
