Debian Configuration :: Getting Error Message With System On KDE LENNY 'don't Have Permissions To Start Pppd'
May 4, 2010my iwlist scan is normal. ethernet connection ok, wirless not working but does seem to receive. wifi radar lists my router ssid. Does this say I have the correct router for my wireless is my question? I am also getting this error message with this system on KDE, LENNY. From KWLAN a wpasupplicant front end.

Ubuntu :: Won't Load From USB / Black Screen And Prints Out An Error Message?
Jan 19, 2010I decided I wanted to give ubuntu a go by installing it on a 4GB USB drive.
I installed it using this guide url.
I booted up and it hung on the 'mounting file system', I left it for ages and eventually it goes to a black screen and prints out an error message, I can't type anything on my keyboard.

Some talks about cups, acpid, ipv6 or systemd but nothing has solved the issue in my case.I used iptables-persistent many times with older debian versions.

Ubuntu Installation :: 10.10 - Instant Flash Of Error Message On Black Screen
May 19, 2011I have the normal OS choices menu (Windows XP or Unbuntu) but when I choose ubuntu I get an instant flash of an error message on a black screen so quick I cannot read the whole thing but I caught "error" and "format" and then the computer reboots. I have no problem getting into Windows.

Mar 5, 2010I cant seem to install Ubuntu 9.10 at all. At 15% I get the following Error Message Input/output Error During Read On/dev/sda then I get the creation of swapspace in partition #5 of SCSI1(0,0,0) (SDA) Failed. Ive tried 6 times already. Im getting no sound at all. How can I change the screen resolution. 800 x 600 is the highest it will go. Im getting really discouraged with Ubuntu. Alot of people seem to have the same problems I am having but there is no solutions. I've checked the MEMTEST and passed, done a disk check and passed.

I believe this has something to do with an mdadm update which was included in the release. When I configured the array, I didn't partition the disk devices, so maybe that has something to do with it. I am thinking of rebuilding the array and partitioning prior to build, but a quick fix would be referable.
And also something appears to have happened to the raid device since the update.
Prior to update, the array was /dev/md0 - now it is /dev/md/0 which is a symbolic link back to /dev/md0.
mdadm --detail --scan now reports /dev/md/0 where previously it reported /dev/md0
I created a new RAID1 array on a fresh system and immediately after the create, these messages appear at 5 minute intervals.

Feb 13, 2011I just got Squeeze loaded on computer and getting several error message during boot up. Something about 368623 and 368761 PCI Bar 6 collision. This is a first for me on Debian OS. It happens so fast I can barely write it down. Is there a log I can access to see the entire entry?

Sep 6, 2011My computer: 3 year old cheapish box, Gigabyte board with onboard video and sound. Cat5 cabled to Linksys wired router to a cable modem. Debian 6.0 Stable. Network installation.
This didn't happen from the initial installation but I now get an error message each time I get the updates.
I first see the red update notification icon top right of Gnome desktop. I click on it, enter root password at prompt. Click the install updates button on the update manager window. The software progress bars show me the download progress but then I get the following errors.
An error has occurred and installing has been aborted. Error Message: subprocess installed post installation script returned error exit status 1
Error message: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured.
I cancel the messages. The notification icon then turns to the reboot icon. If I start the update manager again from the System menu it shows me that my system is up to date, so I suspect the update has taken place. But why am I getting the error messages. This now happens every time I see the new updates icon. Apart from that everything works fine.
I include my source list in case this helps.

In the torrents that do no get downloaded, I get an error message Tracker responded: Unknown error (0) in the info window, tracker tab. But there are torrents with the same tracker that don'thave a problem and get downloaded fineThe logs don't give a clue about whats wrong either.I tried downloading those torrents with Vuze and I had the same problem. When I open terminal and enter visudo I get the following error message...

The problem is definitly that kvm (or qemu or libvirt-bin, i don't know) tries to set permissions (rwx owner for libvirt-qemu, --- for kvm group, --- for other) on the file, although it has read permissions. Is it possible to change this behavior?

Debian Installation :: Testing - All Logins Fail / System Error Message From The Passwd Command?
Mar 18, 2010I just installed Squeeze on an older PC. Installation seemed to go fine. But when it booted up on the installed system for the first time, I could not login - username/password failure. I tried every possible typing error and CAP LOCK error I could have made - still nothing.
I brought up a console window and tried logging in as root - same problem.
I booted into single user mode and entered passwd command to set new root password - I got a SYSTEM ERROR message from the passwd command.
I booted to a Live CD, went to /etc/shadow and deleted the encrypted password. Rebooted on the hard drive, went to console window and logged in as root, with no password required. So far so good. I entered passwd command to set new password and got the same SYSTEM ERROR message.
The machine seems fine when running on the Live CD, and the install seemed to go fine.
