CentOS 5 :: Gstreamer-0.10 Good Plugins Is Missing Souphttpsrc?

Mar 25, 2010

The gstreamer-0.10 good plugins in CentOS 5.4 seems to be missing souphttpsrc. I looked online and can only seem to find references to it being in the bad plugins, yet the bad plugins documentation says it was moved to the good plugins. My experience downloading rpms is that the dependencies to build anything for gstreamer require I also download about 20 other rpms.I am reluctant to download/install rpms for a different distro.Has anyone successfully installed newer good plugins (particularly, souphttpsrc)?

Ubuntu :: Install 32 Bit Gstreamer Plugins On 64 Bit?

Dec 11, 2010

I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 x64. And some Wine games (e.g. Morrowind) require 32 bit gstreamer plugins to enable sound. How can I install 32 gstreamer plugins on my 64 bit Ubuntu?

On Fedora this is easy, you just need to explicitly provide the architecture:

Code:
yum install gstreamer-plugin-good.i686

I can't figure out how to do this in Ubuntu

Ubuntu :: No GStreamer Plugins Installed After Bad Shutdown

Jan 3, 2010

I was having trouble getting my 8.10 box to restart... it appeared hung on a line talking about alsa (I don't recall what it said). I started back up and the volume icon indicated it was muted. I unmuted and, lo and behold, I have no sound. So, I tried to follow the alsa upgrade instructions at [URL].

When I tried to run the second script:
Code:
sudo sh ./alsa_2.sh

I got this:
cp: target `/lib/modules/2.6.2*/ubuntu/media/snd-hda-intel/snd-hda-intel.ko' is not a directory
cp: cannot stat `/usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver*/modules/*': No such file or directory
cp: omitting directory `/lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/kernel/sound/'
cp: omitting directory `/lib/modules/2.6.27-14-generic/kernel/sound/'
cp: omitting directory `/lib/modules/2.6.27-15-generic/kernel/sound/'

And now my volume indicates it's muted again, and if I try to adjust it I get this error:
The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured. You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the menu.

Debian Hardware :: No Sound Cards Or Gstreamer Plugins?

Sep 24, 2010

I just two days ago updated lenny, then unplugged my monitor which raised my video card out of my open system board. This made my debian com freeze and i had to restart. The sound icon looks like its muted or has an X next to it. It says 'No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.' I tried looking through forums but havent found any solutions yet. I think alsa is installed. I ran alsaconf. It said no sound cards were loaded when unloading them. Then the following cards are found on your system:

hda-intel ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
hda-intel ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 3870 Audio device
legacy Probe legacy ISA (non-PnP) chips

I tried the first two, it says OK, sound driver is configured ALSA CONFIGURATOR will prepare the card for playing now. I'll run alsasound init script, then use amixer.

I then installed libesd-alsa0, replacing libesd0 or something. If I do # alsamixer, then it says alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory

Then i tried this

# cat /proc/asound/cards
cat: /proc/asound/cards: No such file or directory
then # cat /proc/asound/modules
cat: /proc/asound/modules: No such file or directory

[Code]....

Did I break the onboard sound card when pulling out the video cord? I was pretty gentle, I just made it slide out i think. I've also restarted a bunch of times. It seems like alsaconf showed some sound cards. Maybe some driver is not installed, but I think I did install a newer gstreamer or part of it.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Sound Juicer And GStreamer 0.10 Plugins Really Bad?

Feb 5, 2010

I'm installing Sound Juicer to rip CDs. The notes say it wants "gstreamer0.10-plugins-really-bad (not available in Debian) to encode to AAC." Now I don't know as I'll want to encode to AAC (I primarily plan to rip to .wav for burning compilation CDs), but I figure I might as well grab it, for completeness . I noticed, on Google'ing for info on that package, comments that seem to indicate its functionality has been replaced by gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad. So, do I still "need" gstreamer0.10-plugins-really-bad?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Gstreamer Can No Longer Find Plugins?

Mar 28, 2010

Up until recently I have had no problem playing all kinds of video in Ubuntu. I recently upgraded to Lucid and I can't remember if I was able to play videos after that, but yesterday I found that I am unable to play flv or MP4 videos in either totem or vlc. Converting them to ogv using ffmpeg allows them to play just fine, and I can edit the flv and mp4 in Avidemux, so there is nothing wrong with the files themselves. Not sure what I've done, can't seem to find a bug in launchpad for this, so I am assuming it is a problem with my setup somehow.

Sep 2, 2010

I'm brand new to debian and quite new to unix based systems in general.

I just switched to debian from ubuntu in search of something different and I want to find a system that works for me before I settle down.

I DO NOT HAVE A SECONDARY OS

just two problems I have with debian:

No sound

Error message: No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.

When I try to open sound from the speaker icon at top right.

I think it's a driver issue but Its not as easy as ubuntu was lspci:

My trackpad also does not work so I have to open documents manually if I don't bring my mouse to class.

Ubuntu :: Missing Plugins - Decoders ?

Feb 5, 2011

I was listening to music one day, and I decided that I wanted to watch a video on my laptop, so I put in the DVD, click play, and suddenly I'm missing the Windows Media Player 8 decoder. I try some of my other videos (of different formats, including .FLV and .AVI), and they're all missing different decoders. Also after that, and ONLY after that, RhythmBox can't find the decoder for .WMA files, yet it still plays .mp3, .ogg, .flac etc. I snooped around and downloaded various gstreamer plugins, and when that didn't work, I tried reinstalling all of them. Still no luck.

In short, I think part of my decoder and plugins folder got corrupted or deleted. VLC will play everything still. This is something I find bizarre.

Software :: Kdevelop Missing Plugins?

Sep 19, 2010

I have been searching the internet in vain for the names of the packages that provide the following plugins for kdevelop in Debian Squeeze. The missing plugins are preventing me from testing the written programs.

Missing plugins:
1) C++ support
2) kdevcvs
3) make builder
4) output view
5) QtHelp
6) Subversion

The icons representing these plugins are all a question mark. I am assuming that means that they are missing. Needless to say, as it is, kdevelop is useless.

Ubuntu :: 10.04 - Could Not Detect Wireless Networks And Missing Plugins

Jul 23, 2010

I have just downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop version and browsed the trial version without installing it onto my laptop. OK, I love it. I have decided to get rid of Windows 7 and install Ubuntu as the sole OS. However, I have got three questions before I do it.

1) Ubuntu couldn't detect any wireless networks. Was that because I run only the trial version? I am really concerned about it as I am a frequent Internet visitor.
2) Ubuntu preloaded movie and audio players couldn't play anything from my external HD. I got warning that plugin MPEG-2 System Stream demuxer was missing and couldn't be found (as I couldn't access Internet, I guess).
I suppose I will be able to download the missing plugins. This leads to question
3) Once I download the necessary missing plugins, what am I supposed to do with them? How to install them?

I am trying to make the sound quality better on my Ubuntu.

It says there this: (If you are lazy to click )

Re: NEED better audio quality

Quote:

I can tell you flat out that foobar with the secret rabbit plugin, even without any internal or external equalizer completely tears up linux sound.

No, it doesn't.

In Linux you can easily choose Secret Rabbit in SRC_SINC_BEST_QUALITY mode as your system-wide sample rate converter by adding a single line to either /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc (requires libasound2-plugins and libsamplerate0 to be installed):

Code:

Now show me how to do that in Windows.

I have both of those packages installed, but for some reason the file asound.conf and .asoundrc are not there so I cannot add the line.

I would expect it to just start playing the station. If I select 'Radio' in rhythmbox's upper left panel, and -then- click 'tune in' on the shoutcast page next to the station I want, there's an entry made in the playist at that time, but then there's an error popup says: Couldn't Start Playback You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install the necessary plugins. Which is surprising. It's a shoutcast stream. It should just play. But anyway, I guess something didn't get installed in the default install.
