I am trying to setup HylaFax server on Ubuntu 10.04 Server with an external COM Rockwell modem, but no success yetEverything works fine except when I try to send fax. I get an error saying: Failure to train remote modem at 2400 bps or minimum speed.I have searched Hylafax mailing lists but no luck.Does anyone had the same problem? Any ideas to solve it?
I am runing debian-5 (lenny), the default kernel 2.6.26 was unable to start the x so i installed the new kernel linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-28_i386.deb, now x works, but there is problem building modules for the intel soft modem linux driver hsfmodem-7.60.00.00oem which is supplied in the modem cd by the intel company.
I installed these kernel packages for this purpose: linux-base_2.6.32-28_all.deb linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-28_i386.deb linux-headers-2.6.32-5-486_2.6.32-28_i386.deb
[code]....
in all these cases hsfconfig failed with the above error,
i installed a centos 5.3 (server and server GUI), now planning to setup a hylafax server with avantfax frontend. on hylafax+ website, it did say it will need LDAP, PAM and JBIG to support the proper function of hylafax. I donot know if those packages are alrealy included in my install or i need to install them on command line. also are there any other packages i need to install? if so, what command should i use?
CentOS install running HYLAFax. OS is running well, I have a PCI RocketModem III (8 port) installed and running, and HYLAFax installed and functioning (faxes are received & emailed to faxmaster). We would like to route faxes to email recipient's based on DID numbers, which seems to be possible if you can send the DIDs via DTMF. I have our PBX routing fax calls to a hunt group, which has a single analog line (for setup & testing) that is hooked up to the RocketModem. Faxes come in without issue. The PBX is set to send the DID via DTMF tones once the modem picks up. I verified using minicom that all is working properly from the phone system to the RocketModem ports. See below for a minicom session:
Is there any way to monitor ambient temperature over the net?
For example I want to put one thermometer in the front of the cabinet (cold isle) and one in the back (hot isle) and monitor them over the internet, or have them report to a linux box.
I have a Centos 5.4 server running kernel 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5PAE. It has an internal modem, and I need to be able to issue AT commands from a script to the modem. I need to simply dial a number and hang up. The relevant piece of my script is:
[Code]...
With an external modem, this works no problem. With an INTERNAL modem, the call never goes out. I fired up minicom to make sure the modem was working correctly, and if I issue those AT commands from within minicom, everything works great.
While minicom was running, I noticed a peculiar fact: WHILE minicom is running, the script works from the command line, and I can see all the AT commands and OK's in minicom, (minicom acts as a monitor). When I exit minicom, the script stops working. It appears minicom is creating a bridge between the com port and the modem itself. So, what is minicom doing that I'm unaware of?
The server's sole function is to run asterisk as a voicemail server (avaya wanted well into 6 figure territory to implement this....). This script is to dial an avaya FAC to turn the voicemail message lights on and off on the end users' phones.
I've installed from the CD the Centos version 5.5. When I try to connect to Internet I can't because I received some errors. I've the Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller also a wireless slot (I've the wireless card DWL-G650+) When I turn on the pc and I go to "Ethernet Device", I see set: peth0 (Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) ETHERNET CONTROLLER) and also set "Bind to MAC address": fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff I've set manually the IP address (I'm under router). Status is "Active" but can't go on the Net. When I change to "eth0 (Intel EtherExpress/100 driver)...sometimes become "Active" an other times said that the MAC address is different or to check the cable because can't find the IP. What can I do?
I have an intel DP35DP motherboard - ICH9 southbridge - set to AHCI mode. Working fine under 5.2. Yesterday I updated to centos 5.3, and got kernel 2.6.18-128.1.16 and now it can't boot. It hangs trying to read sata1 with DRDY errors and exceptions. So then I installed 5.3 from a DVD onto a new drive, and got kernel 2.6.18-128. This worked, most of the time, but occasionally gave me this error. I then updated my BIOS, and the error went away. Then I updated this new working drive to the latest kernel (yum update again) and got kernel 2.6.18-128.1.16, and now it wont boot again, with the same message.
I've a Centos 5.1 server on S5000vsa Intel board with 6 bay HD in raid 1 mode (2 HD), and working fine until I've decide to make a yum update. Today the Centos is 5.4 but seems necesssary to upgrade the megasr driver for the raid function (i.e. , is not possible to contact the raid firmware trought Web Console 2). I've download the last megasr driver from Intel and I follow the instruction to upgrade the driver with s.o. installed, but when I start the server and choose via grub the new img boot file, the display show :
megasr.ko invalid module format -1 and stop. The linux version is the same in the machine (uname -a) and from the driver (2.6.18-164.9.1.el5). Another question : in Intel instruction spoken about megasr.o , but on img file I found a megasr.ko . I think instructions referre to old linux 2.4
I installed centos 5.1 in my system, it installed perfectly, but when I am trying to install centos 5.2 then it is not let me install.

I did a test mailx command and it goes out of the queue but never gets to my yahoo mail.
I am using a cable modem. I can go out to the Internet so I know I have a valid connection. I am guessing I need to set something up so the cable company will relay my mail for me.
I know i can pull pop mail down and sen it using my account.
Do I need to configure something in the sendmail.cf file to do this?
I just went into my email and say this ...patial msg included...

I got a crash on intel machine running intel cpu (CENTOS 5)I would like to know if i can move hdd to new machine with amd cpu? 3 hdd (raid 0 on 2 of them)system is on hdd without raid.
I've recently installed stable (5.x, I think that's lenny...) on a laptop and there's no sound at all.
I had this problem years ago when I last installed linux on here. I solved it then and I thought the solution was unchecking "external amplifier" in alsamixer.
I believe my sound card (Intel 82801DB-ICH4) is detected and the appropriate driver loaded (snd_intel8x0) however, even running speaker-test produces no sound (no error either).
I've read that the intel hda have a model parameter found by greping for codec in /proc/asound/card? but I can't find any information about what codec is used in any path like that. Is there a model parameter for this card too? I'm on a philips freeline X10 laptop.
I ran alsaconf and nothing seemed to change. I tried alsactl init but the command init wasn't found, I suppose that must only be in newer releases. I installed libesd-alsa0 to replace libesd0 but that didn't help (should I revert this file? libesd0 says it's for oss). I also appended "options snd_intel8x0 index=0" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base which got the card registered as the first device.
I am new to Debian. I am trying out the live cd but can't seem to find how to connect to the internet. My setup is Ethernet card and DSL modem, no routers, no wireless. How do I set this up?
