CentOS 5 :: HYLAFax - DID / DTMF Routing - Hooked Up
Jul 27, 2009
CentOS install running HYLAFax. OS is running well, I have a PCI RocketModem III (8 port) installed and running, and HYLAFax installed and functioning (faxes are received & emailed to faxmaster). We would like to route faxes to email recipient's based on DID numbers, which seems to be possible if you can send the DIDs via DTMF. I have our PBX routing fax calls to a hunt group, which has a single analog line (for setup & testing) that is hooked up to the RocketModem. Faxes come in without issue. The PBX is set to send the DID via DTMF tones once the modem picks up. I verified using minicom that all is working properly from the phone system to the RocketModem ports. See below for a minicom session:

I have a firewall, this consists of three NIC's:
Code: eth0[192.168.0.2] eth1[192.168.1.2] and eth2[10.10.165.2]
I am trying to ping eth0 from eth2, but I am not able to succesfully get a response from pinging the device, I am using:
Code: ping 192.168.0.2 -I eth2
I have tried to insert routing data into the routing table, but it still doesn't work

Our company is an education training and there are 2 mail servers by used. One is postfix in CentOS,other is WinWebMail in windows2003.
Postfix server has 1 public IP and 1 private IP(192.168.1.224),but WinWebMail only has 1 private IP(192.168.1.253).Bcuz we'll broadcost news of training to students and ourselves, but postfix is cannot do that automaticlly,I guess that that is 2 server are the same domain name in DNS server[URL].The question is Postfix can send all mail but [URL].now I wanna try to used postfix have a routing to WinWebMail server,I mean I add a countant in WinWebMail server,if we wanna send some news to everyone in [URL].The postfix will be tranfor to WinWebMail server, and the WinWebMail broadcost to all of [URL] but now other domain name. how to do that in Postfix server?

I have a user setup to receive email, which I would like automatically to be sent into a program that I'm writing. Should I be looking into procmail, or is there a shorter way in /etc/mail (for sendmail) to route all of a specific user's email into a program? I don't care whether the emails are ever written into /var/mail. CentOS 5.3, kernel 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5, sendmail 8.13.8

I have configured CentOS 5.4 as a router/firewall (iptables) as such, and it is working fine:
eth0 - Public IP/Intenet, DHCP
eth1 - 192.168.0.0 internal "net1"
eth2 -10.0.0.0 internal "net2"
I want to add a fourth NIC, eth3, which will be assigned its own Public IP/Internet address (thru DHCP; my ISP provides two). The purpose it to route all net1's internet-bound traffic through eth0, and all of net2's internet traffic to eth3. This allows me to use one router/firewall machine instead of two separate ones. I anticipate that without some specific routing instructions, the default route will be eth0 for all net1 and net2 internet traffic (eth3 will be ignored).
I thought of using just one NIC (eth0) but create an alias (eth0:0), but IPtables (and possible DHCP) can't differentiate between the two (besides, nics are inexpensive). Is there a way to do this through routing commands, or even use iptables prerouting/forward functions (or is using iptables problematic)?

I have a older dell inspiron laptop running xubuntu 9.10. It has run fine for quite a while. I recently hooked it up to my plasma tv to watch some some movies and now it crashes when I try to log in. The process I used to hook it to the TV was: connect VGA cable then boot into the external monitor, then shutdown. I have done this in the past with other laptops and it always went back to normal when I boot without the VGA cord attached.
What happens now is I try to log in then the screen flashes and sends me back to the login screen. One more thing to add, I didn't have to use the login screen prior to this problem, it was set for auto-login.How can I fix this? I can get to the terminal via CTRL + F2 and via SSH.

I am starting to hate using NetworkManager instead of the good old "network" option. This is my problem. I have a modem I got from my ISP. My F10 server is hooked up directly to this router, and gets a static IP address of: 22.34.45.33 (Hypothetical ip). I then have a wireless router on my network, that connects directly to my isp's modem, and gets a static IP address aswell. Attached to the wireless router are all of the desktops in my house.
I have more than one network card in my server, so I want to plug my server into my router so I can share files. Whenever I do this, I get DNS issues. My postfix cannot receive email, but it can send it. Once the local interface is disconnected, I regain the ability to recieve email from postfix. I am so confused. This is my first encounter using NetworkManager. I just switched from CentOS.

I have three monitors. Two are hooked up to an ATI card and the third to an nVidia 6800 card. This third monitor is not being recognized. I tried installing nVidia's official Linux drivers but received an error that no compatible device is present. Going into System > Preferences > Display shows only my first two monitors. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 x64.

I hooked up my laptop via monitor cable to the L.C.D. T.V. and ran a patch I found on Ubuntu forums because it wasn't showing up on the T.V. After that it asked me what screen resolution I wanted I entered it and then the screen worked! However, now when I play movies on either the T.V as a monitor or just on the laptop itself it comes out with bad video quality now. It sucks because that was the purpose of hooking up my T.V. as the monitor was to watch movies and videos I have downloaded.

Also, if I have a fairly new PC, should I be using i386 or something like x86-64?

I'm trying to install HylaFAX but it's giving me problems. I've installed the program on my CentOS (5.4) box but I can't seem to get it to send faxes.
I've tested the modem with the minicom program and I was able to dial out to my cell phone just fine. What do I do to to find out what the problem is? Which log file does HylaFAX log to?

I'm after something simple to use similar to the XP fax client/fax printer. Hylafax seems an overkill. HPlip app seems to expect an HP printer/scanner or fax machine. Is it true that hplip is an HP exclusive? I'm using opensuse 11.2 with kde 4.3.1, but I would consider gfax. Gfax is not on my DVD. The docs for that on the hylafax site stop at 2008. Is an up to date Gfax a possibility? I see most of the hylafax posts in the archive get redirected to the hylafax website. I've been thru most of that stuff, but much it's out of date. Hylafax seems to be the basis for other apps.
I'm signed up for the Hylafax-user list, but I didn't see any hylafax archives to browse thru. If you are still with me here, I have an opensuse 11.2 with a dial-up internet. From the DVD I installed from I installed hylafax-4.4.4-19.3.i586 and client. That install load a bunch of fax tools at places the hylafax docs don't expect. Besides that their docs only go up to opensuse 10.2, tho there is some stuff or enterprise suse.

I'm on opensuse 11.4 (11.3 won't work with my monitor).
My computer gets internet through wireless and I want to share that internet through its ethernet port. So far I've tried using Knetworkmanager to create a network bridge between my wireless and wired connections. I created a new wired connection and shared it using the ip address settings. I was able to get both connections active, but the device hooked up via ethernet had no internet connectivity.
I also tried this command:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
but another test resulted in the same fashion (no internet on wired). I believe anything I add to /proc should have an immediate effect, correct?

I want to remote-desktop into a windows box that happens be hooked up to a linux server. The linux server uses a static IP. I've already enabled remote-desktop on the windows machine, but am wondering what I need to do server-side to make the server's ip forward to the windows machine. I know this can be done with iptables but I'm not sure how to work it.

I have recently upgraded a computer from Wheezy to Jessie, and I'm having trouble getting an internet connection shared via Ethernet by another computer (the provider) to work on it.I have activated the interface of the Jessie computer and configured a static IP on it in the same subnetwork as the provider's ethernet interface with the following commands:
Code: Select all# ip addr add 192.168.123.201/24 dev eth0
# ip link set up dev eth0
I now would like to set the address of the provider as the default route with Code: Select all# ip route add default via 192.168.123.100 dev eth0, but I get the following error message: Code: Select allRTNETLINK answers: File exists.
Indeed, when I run Code: Select all# ip route, the following comes up:
Code: Select alldefault dev eth0 scope link
I've tried to remove this default route to replace it with mine with Code: Select all# ip route flush table main and Code: Select all# ip route del default but these commands don't seem to work.

I have a fedora 13 with two Internet links, but I'm having problems in configuring them. In the past 11 fedora works fine, on Redhat, Centos, only fedora 13 and 12 is not working the same configuration posted below:
# File rc.local
ip route add 200.20.150.192 dev eth0 src 200.20.150.194 table 1
ip route add default via 200.20.150.193 table 1
ip route add 192.168.2.0 dev eth3 src 192.168.2.2 table 2
ip route add default via 192.168.2.254 table 2
ip route add 200.20.150.192 dev eth0 src 200.20.150.194
ip route add 192.168.2.0 dev eth3 src 192.168.2.2
ip rule add from 200.20.150.194 table 1
ip rule add from 192.168.2.2 table 2
ip rule add fwmark 1 lookup 1
ip rule add fwmark 2 lookup 2
ip route flush cached
# The route default is to link 1 ( 200.20.150.193 )
# Some configuration basic tested and not work with iptables
iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -i eth3 -s 192.168.0.0/24 -j MARK --set-mark 2
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth1
My iptables do the identification mark of the packets, but some things happen that it could not do the routing of packages in Fedora 13 and 12, I don't really know what can be, I tried everything I knew.

My setup is...I have a wireless access point using laptop as a gateway. The AP is also connected to a switch as is the laptop. So the laptop has two interfaces one wireless and one wired. A third device is using the AP to connect to a server on the internet. The AP sends the packets to my laptop where they are dropped. I've been looking for a solution to this problem without success. Basically is there a way for my laptop to forward all packets it sees from a certain IP address to whatever destination address they have?To clarify, my laptop is just the gateway of the AP and none of the packets are addressed to it at all, it just picks them up using a sniffer or similar tool.

Some basic network details:

Subnet B:
I am trying to think of any further relevant details, but that seems to be it to me. If I forgot anything, please tell me.
Ok the question. WHAT do I type? (Explicitly!) And WHERE do I type it? In order to reach ubuntu-01.tec.lan, or ubuntu-02.tec.lan from perpetrator.tec.lan or rapine.tec.lan?
I'm interested in using actuall ROUTES. I can already achieve results similair to this with either a NAT firewall, or with VPN.. but that's not what I am interested in.
From what I have found out so far, I should need something like the following:
On Gateway 1B:
Code:
And on Gateway 1A:

I am having some trouble setting up routing on my Ubuntu 9.10 Server. I have the GUI installed with Webmin and OpenVPN Heres the setup :
1 NIC - WAN - eth0 - IP: 146.231.x.x SUBNET: 255.255.252.0
1 NIC - LAN - eth1 - IP: 192.168.1.1 SUBNET: 255.255.255.0
1 NIC - ADSL - eth2 - dynamic
What I need to do is the following.
All users are connected to the LAN.
All requests for IP range "146.231.x.x", and "domain.com" need to be routed from LAN (eth1) to WAN (eth0).
All other internet requests need to be routed to ADSL (eth2).
-> I have the masquerading in the linux firewall working for NAT, but all traffic goes to ADSL (eth2).
-> I am using OPEN-VPN over the ADSL also.
-> DHCP and DNS work fine.
I also need all ports opened with the route (from eth1 to eth0)
