I installed centos 5.1 in my system, it installed perfectly, but when I am trying to install centos 5.2 then it is not let me install.
My system has 220 SATA HardDisk Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM Intel Desktop Board DG41TY when I try to install centos 5.2, it show me menu bar After hit enter key to install centos 5.2, it show me loading usb drive and then showing some strange font. System is hang after this Can you please tell how I install centos 5.2

I have been able to load CentOS on my computer. I have the motherboard DG41TY from Intel. It seems that the only problem I have is my network card does not work. On the Intel site there is a link to download the network driver for Linux. I did that. It's an rpm file. realtek-r8169-kmp-default-8.004.00_2.6.16.60_0.21-0.i586.rpm is the name. When i right click and say install it tried to connect to the internet for some thing and fails. of coarse it does there not loaded yet. I added a second nic that cent did recognize and got me online. I want to load the on board driver and remove the add on card. When I try to load now I get missing dependencys.

I have a DG41TY which has a "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500 integrated graphics subsystem" graphics onboard card connected to a Benq Fp731 (old LCD flat screen).
While installing Fedora 10, screen hung at the first welcome page, only mouse movement, no Ctrl F2-6 terminal access. I then tried vga=vesa (and other 791 787 options), lowres on the grub options. Did not help. Same results. Then I tried text install, installed system-config-display and tried all the steps (inittab to 5) on [URL]. No help, it hangs on the login screen. On system-config-display I tried using Intel Integrated Graphics, did not work. Same results.
I need to try to install using text, then install the [URL] mentioned on [URL]
I dont know how to install a driver on fedora.

I've installed from the CD the Centos version 5.5. When I try to connect to Internet I can't because I received some errors. I've the Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller also a wireless slot (I've the wireless card DWL-G650+) When I turn on the pc and I go to "Ethernet Device", I see set: peth0 (Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) ETHERNET CONTROLLER) and also set "Bind to MAC address": fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff I've set manually the IP address (I'm under router). Status is "Active" but can't go on the Net. When I change to "eth0 (Intel EtherExpress/100 driver)...sometimes become "Active" an other times said that the MAC address is different or to check the cable because can't find the IP. What can I do?

I have an intel DP35DP motherboard - ICH9 southbridge - set to AHCI mode. Working fine under 5.2. Yesterday I updated to centos 5.3, and got kernel 2.6.18-128.1.16 and now it can't boot. It hangs trying to read sata1 with DRDY errors and exceptions.So then I installed 5.3 from a DVD onto a new drive, and got kernel 2.6.18-128. This worked, most of the time, but occasionally gave me this error. I then updated my BIOS, and the error went away.Then I updated this new working drive to the latest kernel (yum update again) and got kernel 2.6.18-128.1.16, and now it wont boot again, with the same message.

I've a Centos 5.1 server on S5000vsa Intel board with 6 bay HD in raid 1 mode (2 HD), and working fine until I've decide to make a yum update. Today the Centos is 5.4 but seems necesssary to upgrade the megasr driver for the raid function (i.e. , is not possible to contact the raid firmware trought Web Console 2). I've download the last megasr driver from Intel and I follow the instruction to upgrade the driver with s.o. installed, but when I start the server and choose via grub the new img boot file, the display show :
megasr.ko invalid module format -1 and stop. The linux version is the same in the machine (uname -a) and from the driver (2.6.18-164.9.1.el5). Another question : in Intel instruction spoken about megasr.o , but on img file I found a megasr.ko . I think instructions referre to old linux 2.4

Problems with xen 3.1.2 creating and installing domU CentOS 5.5 I am trying to do a virt-install --prompt --paravirt, and the install error out while trying to download install RPMs. I have googled for xen centos virt-install and various permutations. I am trying to install CentOS 5.2, and the installation ran out of disk space after running for about 2 hours.I checked the FAQ, and it said 1.2 GB. The disk is 3 GB. The default install was selected, and I think that it checks for sufficient available disk space before installing. Still, it ran for quite a while before announcing that it was out of disk space.The Installation Guide is not very helpful, since there is a blank page where the disk space requirement is supposed to be. I just picked the default installation. A search of the forums on "not enough disk space" did not return much.

i am trying to install centos 5.5 x86_64 as a guest OS in vmware server 2.0.2 using netinstall iso. Installation runs fine until the point, when it tries to install selinux-policy-targeted-2.4.6-279.el5.noarch, the whole virtual pc hangs at this.any ideas? i tried to google few things about this, but i have found nothing. this has happened 3 times in row, whole virtual pc always hangs at the same package. i dont have any other problems with vmware, gentoo runs and installs fine in it.i would prefer to do installation using netinstall.iso, it would take a lot of time to download all cds or whole dvd and all i require is a very basic set of packages.

3 partitions (in order): Windows 7, CentOS and shared data partition.
I need to increase the size of the Windows 7 partition (c:windowswinsxs seems to be something not easily remedied).
GParted didn't work in moving things around (bad sector) so I wiped out its partition (# 2 out of 3) and I was able to increase the size of the Windows 7 partition (I can reinstall CentOS easily and not much work lost).
Except ... no more grub menu (unsurprising). This incantation does allow me to boot into Windows 7.
Is there any way of rebuilding the grub menu short of reinstalling CentOS (5.5)?

I am trying to clone the hard drive to a slightly smaller hard drive in the same computer, same setup.What software or commands do you use to clone the entire system and resize the partition automatically?The original HD is a little larger than the destination HD. The source partition only has about 20 GB in use and the rest is blank.
I have 2 partition, a small 100MB boot partition and another 500GB LVM partition.I can't just clone from the original disk to the new disk. (for another long reason) I need to make an image of the original disk on an external USB drive first, then move that image onto a new disk.I have tried creating an image of the whole disk with Clonezilla, but then the restoration didn't work because the target drive is smaller than the original.

I just came to know that we can also use HP MC Servicegaurd for clustering in Linux environment too. I did some google but could not found much info about the packages and all. I'm trying to setup CentOS 5.4 x86_64 on a new machine but am running into problems. The machine is: CPU: Intel Core i7-860 RAM: 4GiB DDR3 Motherboard: Intel DQ57TM When booting from the disc, I get to the initial splash screen but almost immediately after that, I get a kernel panic.
None of the lines leading up to it mean much to me so I'm not sure what to copy here but the last line says: <0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception
