View 3 RepliesI changed to wubi last night, i decided to go that way cause i was informed it was a safe way to try giving it a try for linux and ubuntu without any special effort needed to be payed and easily deleted if i am not pleased.Thankfully i am pretty satisfied with the results, i pretty much dealt with most of the issues i have faced so far successfully and i am running it ok beside one important thing.See i am using my laptop, which has a hdd of 250GB.On my Vista there are 2 different hdd C+E by default, they separated my hdd.So while i have windows on C and E is pretty much used for my additional data(see movies, music etc) when i installed wubi i installed it on E, thought it would be better and it had more space.
Now though, while i can access threw ubuntu all my files that were located on C(vista) i cant access any of the E ones, and search file dont helps either. The "vista hdd" as ubuntu describes it, its a 250 gb disk on computer, which means it should contain both of the vista disks. But sadly thats not the case.i cant seem to be able to find them anywhere.
Where are the apache log files located? I just want to see all connections, etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my Laptop, I installed Debian under the file "/" and the partition on which I have all my files under "/var". While this isn't really a big issue, when I originally installed Debian, I had the intention of having all of my files on a partition that I would auto-mount later so that when I upgrade my system by reinstalling it, I would only have to change the system partition and let everything else stay the same.. I can live without changing my /var if I can only do so by a re-install...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded slackware disk 1 to 3 via torrent. Now I have 3 nice .rar files which I have uncompressed, and these two accompanying each:slackware-13.1-install.iso.ascslackware-13.1-install.iso.md5I'm running Windows XP, and have nero. The two above files appear to be image files but nero doesn't think so, and I can neither find any other image file to make my install boot cd.I read the other stickied forum topic "So you wan to be a slacker..." which seems to say I should be on the look out for these files:
cdromiso.iso
cdromiso.md5
I have made some custom launchers on my Xfce panel and was wondering where their .desktop file was located. I checked /usr/share/applications but they were not there.
View 6 Replies View Relatedlets say I have a project that have generated lots of xml files. Though all these xml files point to a location with the text name TEXT15. I want to change all the files that containts TEXT15 and change it to TEXT16. This actually works for files in a folder but not recursively in all the entire files....perl -pi -c 's/TEXT15/TEXT16/g' ./* but I have many subfolders and within this more subsub folders....i just want to do this recursively.

I have a separate ext4 partition which contains all my data (music, movies, etc). When I delete files from this partition it is very slow because it copies files from my data partition to the Trash folder in my home partition. How can I avoid this? Can't the trash be configured so that it uses a trash folder in each partition instead of copying files to another partition (which is slow).
Im haveing trouble openning rar. Files..
View 5 Replies View RelatedI couldn't find an answer myself. So, the problem is that every single bittorrent program I tried downloads files I checked to ignore so I know this is not a program related issue. For example, there are 2 pictures in a torrent, I select only one but in the end I have both downloaded.

Is there any way to use the flash drive as a Hard Drive? like install Ubuntu on the flash drive and have the flash drive act as a hard drive - so that if I boot with the flash drive in the computer I can boot of of the flash drive and it would act as a hard drive?
Could I just setup Ubuntu and select the flash drive as the install directory? would that accomplish this?
I am currently writing some convenience methods for my terminal in my bash_profile and am sure if what I am writing is "the best way". I figure a good way to verify whether what I'm doing is right or not would be to find some source code of more established programs and see how they do it.My question then is, where can I find this code on my Mac? An example is, with Macports installed, where is the source code that opens the port interactive console when I type nothing but "port" in my shell?(I added Linux in the title even though I am on a Mac because I assume the answer would be the same for both)
