General :: Removing Glib 2.20 An 2.26 / Where Files Located?
Oct 17, 2010
I have stuffed up my system and I want to remove Glib 2.20 and Glib 2.26. How can I do this? Where are the files located? Sadly, there does not seem to be a make uninstall file for Glib.
I know I can use the log file viewer to look at the logs; however, I was hoping someone can tell me exactly which folder contains the log files so I can view these files directly.
lets say I have a project that have generated lots of xml files. Though all these xml files point to a location with the text name TEXT15. I want to change all the files that containts TEXT15 and change it to TEXT16. This actually works for files in a folder but not recursively in all the entire files....perl -pi -c 's/TEXT15/TEXT16/g' ./* but I have many subfolders and within this more subsub folders....i just want to do this recursively.
I changed to wubi last night, i decided to go that way cause i was informed it was a safe way to try giving it a try for linux and ubuntu without any special effort needed to be payed and easily deleted if i am not pleased.Thankfully i am pretty satisfied with the results, i pretty much dealt with most of the issues i have faced so far successfully and i am running it ok beside one important thing.See i am using my laptop, which has a hdd of 250GB.On my Vista there are 2 different hdd C+E by default, they separated my hdd.So while i have windows on C and E is pretty much used for my additional data(see movies, music etc) when i installed wubi i installed it on E, thought it would be better and it had more space.
Now though, while i can access threw ubuntu all my files that were located on C(vista) i cant access any of the E ones, and search file dont helps either. The "vista hdd" as ubuntu describes it, its a 250 gb disk on computer, which means it should contain both of the vista disks. But sadly thats not the case.i cant seem to be able to find them anywhere.
(gimp:4216): GLib-WARNING **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.28.6/./glib/goption.c:2132: ignoring no-arg, optional-arg or filename flags ( on option of type 0 segmentation fault
gimp stopped working on kubuntu after installing updates, any fix?
The rm command man pages discusses removing files or directories recursively. So what is meant by deleting a file or directory recursively? And what are some reasons for doing so?
Does anyone knows how to remove files from grub loader.BTW i found some tutorials but they don`t seem to work.I`ve tried Alt+F2 then I`ve edited this command: gksu gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst but it doesn`t seem to work what do I do?
I want to develop a bash or Perl script that will evaluate files in the local directory and delete every file that is older than a specified time period, such as three months.I write documents and save the latest modifications by putting the current date in the filename, so I can easily see which versions are the newest. I would like to clean up my directory every once in a while, though, by eliminating the copies that are more than a few months old.
Nothing to do. Used zypper dup to upgrade from 11.3. Still have boot problems (will open another thread), but had major problems upgrading timezone. File downloads would reach some percentage of completion, then B/s would slowly reduce, to zero. Upgrade would halt until manually aborted. Solution was to manually download 5 timezone files and install them in a directory repository. File download did not specify just the timezone file, but also a part of the directory. Could this be part of the problem? example: ./rpm/i586/timezone-2011d-0.2.1.i586.rpm instead of just the file name.System is a Dell 3000 (Pentium 4, 512MB memory).
does anyone know where the tmp/flash files are located in 11.04? i don't want to download the videos downloader or whatever it is at this point. the files should be somewhere!
The following script will work when I type the path to the file I want to checksum, but not when I drag the file to the terminal because the linux terminal (unlike the Mac) automatically puts quotes around the file path, which causes an error. I did not find anything in gconf-editor or anywhere else to alter this behaviour, and my post in Launchpad is unanswered so far. (the script in itself is not very useful, I just stumbled upon this error when experimenting with bash).
So, is there a workaround for stripping the quotes from the input, or can I configure the terminal to not quote the input when I drag a file into it (which I would prefer?)I am currently logged in from Mac OS, but the question refers to ubuntu karmic with which I dual boot.ADMINISTRATORS: Thanks for the quick reply to my newbie question about posting new threads. Actually I don't see now what the difficulty was; I guess I was tired from trying to debug the above script (not funny).
but that changes all. how can I change all files but subdirectorys? I was thinking of something likels -l | grep -v ^d but can't get it to work. I'm still learning about variables and how to use them. thanks in advance for your Patients.
On my Laptop, I installed Debian under the file "/" and the partition on which I have all my files under "/var". While this isn't really a big issue, when I originally installed Debian, I had the intention of having all of my files on a partition that I would auto-mount later so that when I upgrade my system by reinstalling it, I would only have to change the system partition and let everything else stay the same.. I can live without changing my /var if I can only do so by a re-install...
I downloaded slackware disk 1 to 3 via torrent. Now I have 3 nice .rar files which I have uncompressed, and these two accompanying each:slackware-13.1-install.iso.ascslackware-13.1-install.iso.md5I'm running Windows XP, and have nero. The two above files appear to be image files but nero doesn't think so, and I can neither find any other image file to make my install boot cd.I read the other stickied forum topic "So you wan to be a slacker..." which seems to say I should be on the look out for these files:
I have made some custom launchers on my Xfce panel and was wondering where their .desktop file was located. I checked /usr/share/applications but they were not there.
I have a separate ext4 partition which contains all my data (music, movies, etc). When I delete files from this partition it is very slow because it copies files from my data partition to the Trash folder in my home partition. How can I avoid this? Can't the trash be configured so that it uses a trash folder in each partition instead of copying files to another partition (which is slow).
I am trying to install syslog-ng-3.0.2 on Fedora 12 and have run into an issue I don't know how to solve. When runing the "configure --enable-ssl" I get the following "checking for pkg-config... (cached) /usr/bin/pkg-config checking pkg-config is at least version 0.14 checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0... 2.0, bad version string no configure: error: Cannot find GLIB version >= 2.0: is pkg-config in path?" I have glib-2.24.0 installed on this system so I don't understand where this issue is coming from or how to fix it.
Back ground on my system - [root@syslog-ng]# set PKG_CONFIG=/usr/lib/pkgconfig [root@syslog-ng]# export PKG_CONFIG
I have just done a upgrade. And I get the message below. I am not sure that I don't have enough on my boot partition to install the new kernel. When I try and upgrade I get this message: There are unfinished transactions remaining. You might consider running yum-complete-transaction first to finish them.
I downloaded Remastersys, and have made an ISO of my system. How do I remove stuff from it? It's too large to fit onto a CD, and I don't have a DVD-RW drive.
But these binaries (a,b,..etc) are in a different sub directory from where the above file is located. How do I write a script that will pick up each line from the file and execute it.
this i am sure is a very newbie question i have been using linux for a while now Fedora 14 and am still stuck on one issue even though i have trolled the internet for hours. i want to install the 7300 gs driver however when i go to terminal and type: sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.12.run i get the error you must be root. so simple i type su --login add my password then when typing the run command i get the error that the file is not located in root and can not run. so my question is how do i do it. if i cd to home i loose root permissions if i try sudo sh file.run i get the error it is not one of the sudoes.
