Is there any way I can display the number of days elapsed since 1st of January of the current year?
Can't seem to fine an strftime function for it.
Can someone show me a simple method to find out number of days between 2 dates?
Example: How would I find the number of days between 25-12-2003 to 25-12-2010? Could someone write a line of code that takes in the two dates and outputs the number of days? Or is there a program that can do this?
I know of websites that do this but I'd also like an offline method.
I want to itemize addition for each type of transactions. The example below is for 3 days,10/13/2010, 10/14/2010, & 10/15/2010.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up Conky to show a number of RSS feeds, and while I can get it to show the raw titles of items how would I trim these titles down to a given number of characters (say, 40) and add an ellipsis to the end if text has been cut off? The length of titles by default can vary wildly, so if only for the sake of organisation it'd be nice to have a maximum title length imposed.
I found this thread that does something kind of similar for Transmission torrents, but I have no idea how I'd adapt it for RSS feeds. As it stands, the code (well, a sample at least) is simply:

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyway since I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 when I right-click on something and there is another menu in that menu, it doesn't show up for the first time!
for example if I want to create a an "Empty File", I'll right-click on desktop and when I want to go to "Create Document" menu, it doesn't show up! so I must click somewhere else and try again so for the second time it works!!
I chose a folder with 1.8 GB for syncing to the ubuntu one server. I have two questions:
1) ubuntuone-syncd has been using 99% cpu (at times) for two days now. Is this normal?
2) the syncing is EXTREMELY slow. I don't have any bandwidth limitations set and there seems to be very little data getting uploaded. Is this normal?
I hope somebody has a solution to this annoying situation: right after restart my system is very fast (at least for me), but after few days it slows down to the point when using it becomes a waste of time. As soon as I restart everything is OK. Usually I keep open 1-2 Open Office files, couple large PDFs, and some Firefox tabs at the same time, nothing special. No gaming/video on this rig, just basic internet and text processing. Here are my specs:

Kernel Linux 2.6.31-22-generic
GNOME 2.28.1
Memory: 433.1 MiB
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Am I wrong thinking that I have enough juice to keep these windows open? Maybe there is a way to tweak something?

Our webmail connection is segregated behind Forefront, so it was not connecting/authing that way. Even though smartphones have no problem. (sidenote, is there an activesync linux mail client ?)
I have many root folders and several folders underneath my inbox. total mailsize in inbox is 3.5 GB without subfolders. The sent is likewise as large. And is likewise empty.

Tried adding lightening, but it won't add into thunderbird.
Will try finding a diff add on, or if anyone knows how to get lightening into thunderbird 3.1.8 on ubuntu 10 that would be great as well.
I turned on my computer today (running Ubuntu 10.10) and it will go to the login screen where it shows the time at the bottom right and the restart and shutdown button, and also my computer name in the middle of the screen but it does not show my account name. My mouse and keyboard work fine there is just know where to login at. I'm still pretty new to ubuntu so I'm not to sure where to begin.

I'm not running any new or odd programs just Firefox, Openofice writer, and Pidgin. When I turn the computer back on I do not see any kind of an error message. I upgraded to Mythbuntu 9.10 from 8.10 and things went fairly well. No major problems during the upgrade. The system is just a mythbackend server. The only things that access it are for myth and for the smb mounts for mythtv. Every couple days, the system stops responding to network traffic. No myth connection, no smb, no pings even. All I have to do is wiggle the mouse on the system and everything comes back up instantly. I noticed that after it comes back up, the time is off by hours.

I need to move files to a backup drive if they are over 30 days old. All I could find, when looking for scripts, were ways to sort files by date and the solutions were all over the place and nothing seemed simple or good.
I've thought of building my own running "ls -al > filelist.txt" type of approach and then processing the file, but not sure that is best way. An array would be much easier and eliminate the file, but never done an array in bash.

ok, everything worked fine after a fresh 10.04 install, and after some days now i suddenly got several disconnects from the wifi somehow (all other devices in house does not get disconnected, so its a local issue), tried to restart networking, and when i reboot, it works for some hours, then cuts of again. but, after the latest reboot, the sound card is "gone" i suddenly have no sound and a wifi that disconnects at will 13:24 everything worked 110% in all previous ubuntu versions
lspci says this about my audio device: Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2 wifi device: 09:06.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI NOTE! THIS IS AN AUDIO ISSUE ( just ellaborated a bit more to explain what I've done to provoke this )
