Ubuntu Installation :: Can't Boot Live CD After Windows 7 Double Install (Busy Box Pops Up)?
Aug 27, 2010I have two hard drives in my laptop, they are NOT raid configured. I installed 32-bit Ubuntu on the second HD, third partition: Sdb3. I then installed 64-bit Windows 7 on the same hard drive, first partition: Sdb1 (Sdb2 is formatted NTFSd willusedasstorage).Windows installed fine.Then I installed Windows in 32-bit on the first hard drive, first partion: Sda1. Sda2 will again be used as storage.When I boot up, Windows boot manager gives me the option of the two windows OS's to install (but not Ubuntu of course).I wanted to boot into the Live CD, where I would reinstall grub, assuming it would recognize my two Windows, and I could boot into any of the three OS's upon start-up.The Ubuntu Live CD, will act as though it is going to boot, bringing me up to the loading screen, then it cuts out to "busy box" and I am not sure what to do. Buys box is almost like a command prompt, but I don't understand the commands.

Jun 15, 2011I tried adding two printers.. One remote. So I go into add printer, type its IP address.. comes up blank. no error message, it just waits. I type ipp://192.168.1.77 instead, still the same.. I eventually gave up and added the printer from [URL] Local printer. I plug its USB in. It hums for a while, pops a message saying cannot find driver and disappears. I try manually adding, again it just sits. localhost:631 saves the day again. What gives? The old printer management tool was much better, it actually worked.

Jan 7, 2010I am running Pclinuxos with KDE 4.3.4. I have installed Truecrypt but am having problems using this program when the user is not root. If I try to mount or make an encrypted container a message pops up saying: Administrator privileges required: enter user password or administrator password
When I enter the root password a box then says: Failed to obtain administrator privileges: username is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported
I can't understand why this has happened as I gave the root password. Once I provide the root password, surely I become all powerful and the system should let me do anything? Also to mount a encrypted file in Truecrypt I have to assign full write permissions for users to the /media directory. Is this safe to do?
The only way I have found to use Truecrypt with a non root user account is to go to super user mode terminal, sign in with root password, CD to the truecrypt directory and launch Truecrypt from the terminal. I find this very laborious to do every time.

Mar 9, 2010Trying to write a small php program to send emails using a form. I have collected all the information in php variables and I can send the mails just fine. But I need some neat and clean formatting for the mail that is received and hence thought html tables would be nice. But all the html tags are received as plain text and not html though I have mentioned in headers content-type to be html. Any links? If anyone can put some light on it? I thought that html tags would just work fine without much issue. I have tried same with asp and it worked.
PS: I am no programmer. Just trying my hands out on some php.
Edit: I am using a php mailer class from php classes to send mails. I need some way to use an external smtp server for sending mails. I have seen pear but I do not want to use pear. It is not available on the server I am testing and it is not possible for me to install it. I do not have access to install pear and can not ask to install it.

When i try to intal or boot live (from flash drive) The screen pops up asking boot or instal. Whether i choose either/or i recieve an error on my monitor saying input not supported. Jun 10, 2010I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 inside VMware Player running under Windows Vista and I can't connect to the internet or the host computer from the Ubuntu.
I have set all the VMware services to manual (like VMware DHCP Service), but starting them manually doesn't help.
In VMware, the network seems to work (there is a green dot beside the network icon) and I have tried both Bridged and NAT settings.
ifconfig doesn't show the eth1 interface, unless I give it as a parameter (or use -a). I think this means that Ubuntu thinks that the network isn't connected at all.
