i was wondering if anyone could tell me how i can make an image zoom a little when the mouse hovers over the picture, i would apreciate any help however i need to do this in either javascript or html.

what to do in this situation? Prefferably it would be nice to view all the pictures as thumbnails.
I have put a local marine chart as my wallpaper image (ubuntu 10.10). It's a high res tif image and looks good.
However, occasionally I'd like to zoom in on a particular point. Is there any way of doing this? (I'm not using compiz - as I don't need that level of eye candy).
I know I can open the image manually and zoom - but wondered if there was a way to do it on the wallpaper.
One of my favorite features of fire fox is the page zoom ( ctrl + / ctrl - ) that zooms the entire page retaining the layout how ever when I installed 10.04 on my main desktop firefox started scaling the images very poorly ( ie no smoothing, leaving the image looking extremely pixelated ).All threads I've found on the subject seems to related to ubuntu 8, and suggest that a bug fix was underway... hopefully this means there is an easy fix - but what?info;Same computer it worked fine on ubuntu 9.xx and windows 7 - when doing desktop zoom (meta + mouse scroll ) the images also scales as expected.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a nice new Teac OX-1100 mouse with two extra multimedia buttons that supposedly perform the Zoom functions in Windows. When I try to get the scancodes with "xev", "xbindkeys -k", "showkey", or "showkey
-s" then I see no output. There are some other functional keys on this mouse which also show no output with those tools, such as the side scroll feature.
how do i make the screen zoom out abit as when i open some programs or some windows pop up they are bigger than my screen and i cant read them all or click on the buttons at the bottom, ive tried resizing the boxes but they usually only expand and i can never get them to shrink,all ive come across is things about zooming in and out but thats not really what i need,im running ubuntu 10.10 and im on a netbook.

To enable compiz I have download and installed (using OneClick) the nVidia driver for my nVidia GForce 8500GT video card.I need to enable the 'Enhanced Zoom' because I'm a low vision user and I need a magnifier better than Orca.The problem is that when i try to enable it (from ccsm) there isn't any zoom... I try to press META (or Super) and scroll with wheel (SUPER + Button 4) but nothing.
I have see that if I press Super+2 (increase zoom) the mouse pointer moves to a specific screen zone but the screen will not zoom.
I have been using Tvtime for several years and never had trouble with the video until now. Now it opens, but it's frozen. There is no picture and no sound, just a black screen that I can't control in any way. Even to close it, I have to go through the terminal.I can still get channels using Mplayer, so the tuner should not be the problem. However, t is an Hauppauge 950.I was using Lucid on both partitions. Initially, one quit,but not the other. About a month later the other quit while I was watching which makes me think it may be something I have simply hit on the keyboard. I have since upgraded to Maverick on one and reinstalled Tvtime to no avail
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed SalixOS on my laptop just to play with when I'm bored. My laptop is nothing special, it's a couple of years old has a pentium dual core t2390 at 1.86Ghz and 3 GB ddr2 RAM with Intel video.
I then have a beast i7 920 clocked to 3331Mhz 6GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GT220. Full screen ..... at 720p is fine unless I move the mouse, then the whole picture freezes. Persistant mouse movement will freeze the screen for a few minutes. This machine runs both slack64 current and slack13 32 bits.
The slack box does much better with 32 bit flash than 64, but it still doesn't do nearly as well as the laptop.
With Salix and Slack being so close to each other supposedly I can't figure out why the hardware seems to be irrelevant. The only thing I can think of would be the video codecs installed by Salix, whereas I built a bunch of codecs myself for Slack.

I think Ubuntu team can improve the current GNOME desktop and provide some like that. 1. make the movie player amd image viewer dockable..window decoration, hide controls...when mouse move over the image, show transparent controls UI.
Currently the Totem, Shotwell(for me, I like F-Spot more than shtwell) and Cheese UI are very different change them, like nautilus elementary.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBiggest one that make game unplayable is mouse. Mouse isn't moving smooth it jumps around. I cannot shoot anything. So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. Linux would never go forward. I m not some great gamer, but i would like to be able to play this game. Probably somebody run into same problem. I sow that people talk about something like dis on WOW and wine but simptoms doesn't seem same to me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running FC12 and GNOME.If I move the physical mouse about one inch, the mouse pointer moves across the entire screen.That's way too fast and way to sensitive.I prefer the mouse pointer to move far less distance on the screen when the physical mouse is moved.
From System->Preferences->Mouse, I set the various mouse Pointer Speed acceleration and Sensitivity to Slow, Fast, Low, High, and and I couldn't get it any better. i had just edited a picture in digikam that was going to be my new desktop wallpaper.when i went into system/preferences/appearance to make the new change it would not show the new picture that i had just edited as a choice to change my new wallpaper to. then i tried closing the appearance box and it would not close.then i shut down and restarted and when i bring up the appearance box it does not let me click on anything within.also can't close it.seems like other applications are working normally.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy mouse cursor has acquired some strange background image showing what looks to be paragraphs of chinese glyphs (they are too small to make out clearly). This background image is contained in rougly a 1 inch square with the mouse cursor hot spot in the upper left-hand corner. The mouse cursor is visible, but whatever is under those glyphs is covered.
I've tried the mouse configuration gui -- but it says nothing of background images for the mouse. I've also deleted and recreated my xconfig.org file to see if that somehow got mangled. I've been searching the web for a couple of hours, but cant seem to find anything related to my problem.
I run a HTPC which I recently upgraded 11.2 -> 11.3.Most things work fine but I've got an oddity. After the TV is shut down and restored the mouse cursor is "frozen":The old mouse image stays where it isHowever, the mouse IS active, in that you can (blindly) move the mouse, see it mouse-over widgets, and activate them - there's just no visible cursor where the hotspot is.Hardware is ATI chipset (can't remember which, offhand, but it's only a year or two old), running AMD driver, with a HDMI link to the TV.

I need to make a disk image of Jaunty. Something like Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost in the Windows contingence. I have tried Remastersys and Ghost 4 Linux. The former simply created an ISO file, which is 1/10th of the size of my hard drive and I do not know how to restore my computer using the ISO. The latter seems to be stuck at 0% even after leaving my PC on for 4 hours and verifying that all the settings are correct.

Till this day i have done numerous upgrades to my system which were offered by Ubuntu community and some we personal needs/preference. I want to create an ISO file that would also have all the upgrades included in case something goes wrong with my computer hardware for instance hard drive failure. I dont want to start fresh from basic 10.4 LTS image and then by going through all the upgrades i have done so far, again.

I have decided to remove Windows from my disk, but I want to keep my current install of Ubuntu.
One possibility that sprang to mind was to make an image out of my Ubuntu install.
Since I dual boot, the disk is numbered "SDA2" (extended) "SDA5" (root) and then there is Swap. (Windows is the first part of the disk)
One question sprang to mind:
If I make an image out of it, what happens to the numbers? Will there be any conflicts? Not to mention the question of which program would be best (and easiest to use, preferably with a GUI, since I want to save time, not learn code).
And if I would go for a binary dump to an external disk (to put it back when the destination disk is empty), would the same problems arise? Or would that bring even more problems, like the issue of the swap partition, which I would have to receate, since it wouldn't fit on the "dump disk"?
This is all because the whole thing sounds very similar to placing the ubuntu partition to the front of the disk, which, as I have been told, is not a good idea.
In the end, with much gnashing of my teeth, I just started over and created a new 4gb flash. And, as one helper told me, it was truly easier a second go around. Not quick, mind you, but easier Now that I've got my flash somewhat stable, I'd like to know how to make a mirror image 'clone' of this flash to another, just like it. Between my Broadcom drivers, nVidea drivers, updates and flash/java, I've gotten pretty protective of this little flash drive! I've head 'dd' will do it, but, as a newb, is their an application or tool that might make the job easier.
