When I hover over an open programme which is on the task bar I get a pop up, but instead of a picture of the actually programme I get a grey box like this
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to use Pinta Image Editor but I cannot find an option to preview the image, in a viewable size, before I work on it.
what to do in this situation? Prefferably it would be nice to view all the pictures as thumbnails.
i had just edited a picture in digikam that was going to be my new desktop wallpaper.when i went into system/preferences/appearance to make the new change it would not show the new picture that i had just edited as a choice to change my new wallpaper to. then i tried closing the appearance box and it would not close.then i shut down and restarted and when i bring up the appearance box it does not let me click on anything within.also can't close it.seems like other applications are working normally.

I've only come to one problem now. my mom is in love with this Microsoft Picture It program, where she can fix red eyes, chance colors, contrast, tints, ect. Is there a program I can get for ubuntu thats very simple like Picture it? she is extremely computer illiterate, so the easier the better.

I know that there are several programs, really quite simple to use, to download from the web such as "Art Plus Digital Photo Recovery" and "PixRecovery". I was wondering if there are similar programs out there that can be installed on Ubuntu? Also, I have to mention it, when I try to open them with the "Image Viewer" an error message pops out which says : Could not load image 'picture.JPG'. Beneath that there is also this : Error interpreting JPEG image file (Improper call to JPEG library in state 200).

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've been trying to find a program to edit grub ,so that I'll be able to add a picture behind the letters add new lines,and change the name of the menus. I know in Backtrack that I used a program,I don't really remember which one it was,I think KGrubEditor,but that is a KDE app,and I cannot find a place where I could download it anyway. Do you guys know any alternative,or any way I could do this? I know how to edit grub.cfg,but I want some features besides that.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi just fixed my old-ish laptop (pop accident) and instead of putting window on it my dad talked me into trying ubuntu out, gotta say love it, fast and everything but having major problems. i have a lenovo 3000 v200. everything is the same as out of the box except the keyboard, only thing i really needed to replace.
ok problems
1) wireless is not working: i have the switch on (side of the laptop) and bluetooth lights up but wireless doesnt. (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG). now i just learned about 'rfkill list' it shows that there is a soft block on the wireless. tried " rfkill unblock 0" nothing happened. also when i tried finding out wat kernel im using " uname-r" to find out more on why its not unblocking, the CLI says "comand isnt found" next two problems are small but are still frustrating
2) built in camera: the green light is on next to the lens but when trying to test the camera on skype or a photo program the video feed/ picture is black, or blank. not sure what i can do to fix that.
3) fingerprint scanner: yes i have one, i know its not efficient but I still like using it to login in instead of typing. im not sure how to get linux/ubuntu to recognize it if it even is. not sure how to set it up if it is recognized.
i would like to fix the wireless more than anything, if i can fix the camera and scanner then yeay, otherwise i can survive. oh and note i did try using the "additional drivers" app. nothing popped up.
I got a digital picture key chain and it comes with windows software. I plugged it in and it's detected as a read only usb storage, so I can't upload any pictures in it

In windows, a few seconds after putting it into the slot on my Toshiba laptop, it is mounted as a drive. In my OpenSuSE 11.3 (KDE 4.4.4), nothing happens. Is there some software that I can get or some setting I have to tweak in order for it to be mounted?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI added an entry to grub's menu.lst and reran grub (grub-install hd0) and now my background is gone and the entries just show up like on a normal console.
I searched the forums and I couldn't find anything. Does anybody know why this happened and how to fix it?
I have not changed anything in menu.lst except for adding the new OS.
I have Dell Vostro 3300 with Intel HD integrated graphic card and Samsung SyncMaster 2343BW external monitor.

It runs on 2048x1152 full resolution, however, the picture on the monitor is blurry, it vibrates and looks like old TV with interlacing.
I tried to disable output to LVDS screen on laptop using xrandr but it doesn't help/
Previously I had HP laptop with integrated Intel and OpenSuse 11.0 and the external screen worked normally.
How this can be done? I already have the necessary codecs installed and have kde 4.2.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed 10.04 on a lappie the other day, and it all works nicely! BUT, there is also XP on another partition of the hard drive, and the Ubuntu install has taken some properties from the XP accounts on there. One of the properties it has taken is a picture associated with my account. (You know the thing, XP has them built-in. A cat looking through a mousehole, a kid on a bicycle, a chess board etc etc etc). And I can't remove it. System > Administration > Users and Groups shows me a list of all the accounts, and the picture associated with my account, but it doesn't have any method of removing the picture (or of associating a picture with any other account, come to mention it.)
I could create a new Ubuntu account without the picture but that would involve swapping settings between the accounts, which would be a pain.
How can I take a picture of my desktop?

Dual-head doesn't work. All I get is the same picture on both monitors. (that worked in Fedora automatically). I've asked these questions so many times before, but never got useful answers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm able to set it up but everytime I reboot or logout it goes to the default Fedora12 picture. My pictures is in the list so have to select it everytime in system/preference/look & feel/apparence/background. I didn't find any file to edit in my home folder to fix this.
btw I'm unable to edit the menu when I right click on mainmenu icon
