I just installed gtkpod in order to access my ipod through fedora. The problem I face is that sometimes gtkpod detects the ipod and works fine. But sometimes it doesn't detect it at all. And in spite of clicking lots of times on Load iPod(s) button, it doesn't load the iPod. How can I get this working?
View 1 RepliesIts a dell e510 with about a gig of ram. I'm struggling to get my ipod touch working with the gtkpod ipod manager. At this point my ipod shows on my desktop when i connect it via usb. I cannot set up the repository for it in gtkpod because i dont know the location its mounting to. if its mounting at all. so my question is. how can i tell where my ipod is being mounted? I dont have a clue what to look for in the terminal results for "df -a"

I've been trying to get my iPod touch (8GB, jailbroken) to connect with gtkpod iPod manager. But whenever I try to load the iPod I get this message.

I've just installed 10.4 and it works like a charm. The only problem I have is that I've plugged my ipod touch 3g in and nothing happens. It seems like the system doesn't detect it. Opening rhythmbox nothing happens either.
Do i need to do any extra thing in order to have my ipod working?

Ubuntu 10.04 recognizes my iPod Touch because when I connect it an icon pops up on the desktop and I can also play the files from rhythmbox. I installed gtkpod and tried to access the iPod but it doesn't see it.

I realise there were problems with the ipod touch syncing/mounting but gtkpod has the touch option, and I have all the files from synaptic for using an ipod touch. When I run gtkpod its just blank, no music files show up. If I click load ipod I get the error:

Using iTunes it is possible to link all the tracks on 1 CD which makes for uninterupted listening and will also offer the facility to stop and re-start the book from where I left off. Is this available using gtkpod?
My laptop is purely a Linux setup. I am told that I would have to change the BIOS settings which is well beyond my capabilities. As I particularly wish to keep my system pure I need to find the best possible way to work with audio books rather than to capitulate to Microsoft or Apple.
I've been trying to get an iPod nano 5th generation working with slackware-current, with no luck. Currently, I have upgraded to gtkpod 1.0.0 and libgpod 0.8.0. I've run iPod-read-sysinfo-extended successfully, which wrote the SysInfoExtended file in /<ipod_root>/iPod_Control/Device.
After those steps, gtkpod would copy the mp3's to the device, but would fail writing the database. So, I generated the HashInfo file from the firewire guid using the tool at [URL]. After that, gtkpod finishes writing the database to the device, and shows all the music which is present, but after ejecting the iPod, no music shows up.

While the files get stored on the ipod, when I try to listen to music the ipod just says "please use iTunes to sync music". View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently switched back to Ubuntu and I eventually had to sync my new ipod. I've been getting this problem where every time I sync with either GTKpod or Rhythmbox my ipod music is acting weird. It shows new music that I've added but when i choose to play it skips to the next track that then skips to the next track, and so forth. Its as if my ipod is filled with songs that don't even last 0.0 seconds! But the songs completely play in Rhythmbox, so I don't think its a problem with the files themselves.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1440. And decided to install my favorite distro Debian. I got the installation to go with no issue and all seems to be working fine. However the wireless isn't working. NetworkManager doesnt even detect a wireless card. I followed the instructions here and installed the b43-fwcutter and then issued the modprobe b43 and modprobe b43legacy commands. Then I issued the iwconfig command and this was the output.

I am running Fedora 13 with the nvidia blob for OpenGL hw acceleration, everything x86_64. I have spent a couple of days trying to get either Morrowing (TES3) or Oblivion (TES4) working under wine, unfortunately without success.
I have tried several flavors of wine: 64-bit wine from the fedora 13 repo, 32-bit wine from the fedora 13 repos, 32-bit wine 1.3.2 built from source. In all cases, running either of the games I get the same error (using WINEDEBUG=+d3d): "Direct3D requires OpenGL support." Appareantly wine d3d layer can't access to the nvidia OpenGL driver, and therefore d3d is disabled within wine -- making the two games not to start up.
I have tried looking around for a solution, but in all cases I found the root of the problem was missing OpenGL support / missing drivers. This is not my case; I use OpenGL everyday, and hardware acceleration is clearly supported in my configuration (confirmed with `glxinfo | grep direct`).
I think that wine might have problems accessing the 64-bit ogl drivers, but I don't know how to confirm it, and even less how to solve it. Clearly, installing Windows is not an option
I just installed Fedora 12 from a DVD . The process completed without incident.
I then inserted a DVD into my internal drive and nothing happened.
I then logged out and logged in again as root, and tried again-same result; nothing!
Could it have something to do with the new PolicyKit? I didn't have this problem with Fedora 11.
I have an Asus P5K motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo 8400. It has 2 SATA hard disks, a 250 GB Seagate and a 500GB Hitachi.
I've been running Fedora 10 x86_64 for 6 months on this computer without problems.
I'm trying to do a new Fedora 11 install on this computer but the installer (Anaconda?) only detects the Hitachi disk.
I've tried to make a new Fedora 10 install to check if it was a media or disk problem and it detects the two hard disks.
I've tried to install it via a Live CD, and the installer only detects the Hitachi disk. The LiveCD detects the two hard disks, I can access it, partition, format, write, but the installer only detects the Hitachi.
I've tried to change from Enhanced SATA (AHCI) to Compatible in BIOS without success and I've changed SATA cables from one disk to the other, changed the disk order and nothing.
Must I enter some boot parameters for Fedora 11? Has the LiveCD installer some options?
I just installed x64 Fedora, and as the title says, NM fails to detect my WiFi card. It's an Encore ENLWI-N with a RaLink RT2800 chipset. The card does show up when I run lspci, although iwconfig yields nothing.Not sure if this helps, but when Ias running Karmic Koala, Ubuntu detected the card immediately and required no configuration

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just installed Fedora (F13) for the first time, on a new HDD, to give myself a dual-boot system. So currently I have:
So, at the appropriate stage in the install menu, there is an option for where to install GRUB, and a drop-down to choose which drive is the primary BIOS boot drive.
However, in both cases, no other drive except my new sdc is visible. So, I can install GRUB to MBR of sdc, or to first sector of boot partition - but no option to put it to my primary boot drive MBR on sda.
Likewise, in the GRUB configuration page, if I go to Add another OS, the only option it gives me is my new Fedora install. It doesn't list the Vista OS on sda at all.
The result is that I can boot to either OS by changing the boot drive priority in BIOS.
I guess my question is this:
- is this expected behaviour from the installer, meaning that I'll need to configure GRUB manually somehow? (gulp ) or
- did I do something wrong in the install process? or
- is this some weird bug manifesting itself?
I have a sata card in my RHEL5 server that is not working. It has a 1.5tb hard drive attached to it that I would like to use. It seems that the 2.6.18 kernel did not detect and use it by default. I was able to find some info about the

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new F12 install, and my syslog is filling up with messages about USB. I have 2 USB devices plugged in directly to the mobo (bluetooth keyboard receiver, touchscreen), and it keeps redetecting them and then disabling the port for some reason.

This isn't an iPod Touch or an iPhone, both of which work properly on the machine, ironically.
