From my laptop I use at work, I exported the ".pcf" file I use with Cisco VPN Client.
I downloaded vpnc using Ubuntu 10.10, imported that pcf file (all of the settings were there). Tried to connect, and it gives me the error saying
The VPN Connection 'Work VPN' failed because there were no valid VPN secrets..
Converted my .pcf to a .conf for vpnc and it works great from terminal...does not work from GUI b/c I keep getting this error, I've tried everything that the GUI will allow, what am I missing here? I really like to just use the GUI if it's possible.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled my laptop from 8 to 10.04. Everything works OK except OpenVPN (which worked fine before the reinstall). I'm using Gnome and have installed openvpn along with network-manager-gnome. When I have configured the connection (User and CA certificate and key) and try to connect it fails immediately with "The VPN connection <name> failed because there were no valid VPN secrets."

I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed on a Dell Latitude D600. It's a fresh brand new install. After I installed all the updates, I proceeded to install network-manager-vpnc. Then, I imported .pcf files so that I can connect to the office VPN,but it gives me the error message above.I have gone to ~/.gnome2/keyrings and renewed everything.Tried moving them away, and then back again. Created a new keyring. Nothing.
I installed unbuntu 9.10 on a dual partition for alongside windows. Grub failed during installation and now I can not boot to windows or ubuntu. I can not repair with the windows cd, I can not do anything in Windows recovery no format, no fixboot, no chkdsk, no anything, it tells me there is no valid drive when I am in dir C:. In Ubuntu live CD I can see all the files are there on the local disk. What do I need to do to fix this

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had some success with handrake to rip dvd's in older versions of ubuntu. i now have a clean install of 10.10 and know that handbrake is not compatible (even tried the ppa of the nighly builds without success). In looking for alternatives, i cam across arista transcoder....which seems perfect for my needs (simple), but whenever i put a dvd in the queue its gives me an error that says conversion failed....no valid dvd title found. this happens no matter what dvd i use and no matter what preset i choose.

and now i can't get root access to anything. If I try executing a sudo command i get:

after changing in the server the network configuration of DHCP to have an IP set, every time I run yum update I get the following error:

I have following setup on a ubuntu machine.
- Fetchmail collects emails and notifies procmail
- Procmail forwards this mail to a perl script which extracts the attachments
- then this script executes the bugzilla importxml.pl with the attachments.
This works like a charm on the ubuntu machine. Unfortunately I now have been forced to rebuild this setup on a oracle linux. Well, I can run the imports from terminal as root user. The import works well.But if fetchmail trigges procmail and the the perl scripts become executet I get following error:

The path "lib/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so" is right if you go from the importxml.pl but if perl realy looks on this as absolute path to oracle.so then its clear that the file is not there... Again. The script works if I call it manually. So whats the difference between manual call and call through the process described at the beginning? Something seems to be different in the perl environment. The .procmailrc lies in /root and fetchmail is startet manually by the root user in the terminal (for testing). So I thing at the end its in both ways the same user who calls importxml.pl...

I installed Kubuntu on my PC I want to use remotely, without having keyboard, mouse nor monitor connected to it. So I want it to reconnect automatically if it loses the connection.
I upgraded to newest version of kubuntu, so I have KDE4 and newest network manager app. I have password set to my KDE wallet, so I enter it on boot and the app connects.
But then if kubuntu loses connection and tries to recconect a window appears with "secrets", where I have network connection screen, the password for my wireless network is already in the necessary field and all I have to do is press OK.
Well, I don't want that window to appear. The app already remembers my password, it detects it has to reconnect, but it makes me confirm the password is correct? I want to make it just connect, without my input. But I have no idea where to look.
I've checked the options in network manager, but nothing on that. Then I don't want to change the app if I won't have to, linux tends to be pretty touchy with my network card and I'm afraid it could stop detecting it or something...
Edit: The window appeared again so now I can put full title of it: "Secrets for [NetworkName] - KDE Daemon". Under it I can choose security type for [NetworkName], there is field for password, with the password already inserted and "show password" field under it. Oh, and OK button.
Edit 2: Obviously KDE wallet has "always allow" option for KNetworkManager.

I recently installed KDE and just found that it cannot connect to my school wireless which uses WPA2.
It keep asking Secretes for , even after I input everything correctly. It works fine with not secured wireless.In Gnome there was no problem with connecting to this wireless service.
I am currently trying to upgrade over 100 rpms on multiple Red Hat servers. Whenever I try to do a rpm -u /packages/*.rpm i recieve a failed dependencies error on the very first rpm. I know that I can go though each rpm one by one and trace each dependency but that will take forever. Is there a way to skip these errors? I know the -nodeps command for rpm but I dont want to screw something up but running all of these rpms on -nodeps

Having a problem with my Belkin wireless adapter when trying to stream music to my Pinnacle Soundbridge.The network connection is usually rock steady but drops anywhere between and few second and a few minutes after streaming music. Network manager still shows the connection to my home network as active but it is not. The connection comes back when I unplug the dongle and plug it back in. I found the following message repeated in the syslog
