I'm thinking I need a driver, maybe? Can't seem to locate one.
Well I used to have windows but it kept crashing and I don't have a lot of supplies for reformatting computers so i went to my super smart friends house (he has everything) and he put Ubuntu on my computer he set it up bbbuuuuutttt he spelled my name wrong I'm not super savvy with computers that aren't windows I've only had windows up to now and the change is kind good but slightly bad I can't find a capture card software but besides that I can't figure out how to change my name on this computer it's something small yes but it's also something that will bother me FOREVER

When I try to setup the mythTV backend I'm being asked of what card type I have. I guess the answer to that is "DVB DTV capture card (v3.x)", but no matter what I choose, it can't find any devices.
I'm pretty sure /dev/hidraw0 is the receiver, can I use that to setup the backend?

I currently have a USB wireless adapter but want to get rid of it and use my PCI slot on the laptop. I am currently running lucid. I would rather not have to mess around with NDISWRAPPER again, something that has a native linux driver would be great.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'v just brought a notebook computer with a CPU i7 2630QM. I install debian 6.0.2.1 via CD driver, but it failed to success. The probles are three, (1).it reported "cannot find ethernet card" ; (2). It reported "cannot install continue" after the diskpartion step have been successed; (3). It said "netinstall may be a choice", so I say "Yes" and It really downloading something (543 files) and successed . After reboot, I loggin and cannot link to the internet. There is no such files ralated to netware config and I'm not able to config that, for I'm always only a bar finder in an meau.(shy a little, but this is ture). I do it 4 times and the situation and results are the same that I got a smallest netinstalled debian system on my computer and I cannot play music, cannot link to internet. I wonder: How could I install a real debian on my computer? Need I download anther version of iso file or do something that I do not know to makes it works. I can burn an iso image to a real CD by my old computer. I can also install OS such as mint via USB flash drive. In the computer Highly-Orangized world (already-wisdomed world), I have a body already but I've never been installed a sprit or a soul. So I really need to learn from you, from the great debian bbs, learn something of vital importance to take me into wise and freedom.
View 8 Replies View Relatedgot a new MoBo today. dropped it in and powered it up to find no network connection. when I dig though network manager I find no network devices, same with "network configuration" lspci gives:
03:00.0 Ethernet contoller [0200]: Atheros Communication Device [1969:1083] (rev c0)
ifconfig gives just the "lo" device. is there a hardware detection step I'm missing? I should mention this is a swap of one onboard NIC for another.
How do you find one that runs in USB and how do you find it when it runs from a pci port. i already know that you might be able to find the kind of driver that is required to run the device
Lots of people have accomplished this by using aircrack but some operating systems can't install aircrack (not to mention that the use of some software is illegal depending on where you live) so i want an alternative.
Mandirva cant find my internet card.or is it just me?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe had a problem with the NIC 10Gig Qlogic NICs and had to swap them with Emulex 10Gig NIC cards. The swap has been done. There are several severs (about 100)for which we need to check if the hands-on still left the q logic card in them. So, I wrote a script using dmesg and grepped for "qlogic" or " NC522SFp" and my script checked for all the servers and returned no presence of "qlogic". But few of them have q logic still in them. So, is there any other way through which we can exactly tell whether q logic card is still present or not? I used:
dmesg | grep -i "qlogic" or
dmesg | grep -i " NC522SFp"
and found nothing in the o/p. But when I checked using ifconfig -a, then I see the q logic mac ids for eth4 & eth5, which means the Q logic is still present. But not sure whether ifconfig is the real way to find out the presence of these cards.
i have install a new qlogic hba card, but i dont know its model
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get the screen graphics working correctly on a newly purchased ACER Aspire 7740G laptop. It has a 17.3" 16:9 screen with an ATI Radeon Mobility HD5470 512MB graphics card.
The command LSPCI in Terminal gives.....
"02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Device 68e0"
I've also uploaded /var/ log/ xorg.0.log.
In System/Preferences/Display the pink coloured monitor screen has 'UNKNOWN' displayed on it with only 3 resolutions available.
I installed the ATI Catalyst Control centre but when it initialises, it produces an error saying that there is no driver installed - I thought the XORG log shows that the driver is installed.
The command ATICONFIG in Terminal reports.........
"aticonfig: No supported adapters detected" !
I have been trying to find a wireless card that will readily work with Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop. Preferably an +802.11 N with an indoor range of between 300 to 400 ft. with possibly two antennas. Am finding many that say linux on the box but find that it ain't so. Also most times with no instructions or very convoluted process that results in errors.

My new desktop is built around the Intel i7-2600K. The card is detected
