Sometimes when I log on, I find that the theme (specifically the window borders and icons) didn't load properly, and that I instead get a set of grayish window borders (Raleigh, I believe) and the gray GNOME icons. Sometimes the window borders corrects itself, but the icons stay the same. Reloading compiz doesn't help, and the only solution I found was to logoff/logon.

When I log in locally, sometimes my theme isn't applied. This problem started a few weeks ago, but before that the same theme would load just fine every time. In order to get my chosen theme to load, I go System > Preferences > Appearance. As soon as I click "Appearance"...boom. My theme loads and all is fine. I don't have to change settings or anything....just start the "Appearance" utility.
This doesn't all of the time, only sporadically. Another thing to mention is that I'm using AWN. When this happens, AWN doesn't load all of the launchers. I killall and restart AWN and all is good there. Anybody have a clue what could be going on? Compiz related?
System>Prefrences right? It's not there? Everywhere I look It says it should be there,.. well it's not... How can I add it manually? or where is the folder? I would like to edit my themes.. I have a theme manager, but it doesn't load any themes I download..

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter an upgrade to OpenSuse 11.3 KDE has gone to worse. I am beginning to believe that dark themes are impossible to use on the new KDE 4.4.4. The only theme that works properly is Air, but I find it to much white. Aya or Elegance theme have problems showing the buttons on plasma elements, so has any other theme but Air. Trying to switch to an additional dark color theme (Obsidian Coast) does not work properly either.
The buttons on plasma elements are invisible (the button panel that appears when the mouse is over an plasma element). Sometimes different elements are distorted, i.e. icons, text input boxes etc. I wonder how it is possible that the developers at KDE can make it worse. This worked perfectly on OpenSuse 11.2 and its KDE version.
When i open one of the web browsers i use and try to load a web site it's taking to long to respond and sometimes it doesnt load the website at all. I have tried with firefox,epiphany,opera with all the same results. I am sure that this is not a problem with my internet connection because i don't have these problems with windows.Also the network manager connection settings are correct
I also tried choosing the old kernel(2.6.32.24) to boot from but no success.The problem is the same as if i am using the 2.6.32.25 kernel. The strange thing is that i can download packages from synaptic with full speed. Last think.I have recently downloaded the recommended updates from the update manager but i don't remember what are the things that where updated.
I had Fedora 7 and Windows Vista dual booting on my computer. I just installed Fedora 10. When the live CD asked me where to install it, I chose "Remove all Linux Partitions and create default layout" The installation went perfectly, but now when reboot my computer, it boots directly into Fedora; GRUB does not load to ask me which OS I want to load. I know I did not overwrite Vista because I can still view my Vista files through Fedora. Here is my grub.conf file:

Flash doesn't load and the light at my webcam doesn't switch on at all. Things to note:Cheese works so I know my webcam in Ubuntu is functional. I've tried purging the flash plugin and reinstalling it. It doesn't work on Chrome and Firefox so it's definitely only a flash problem. I'm not using any medication so I know it isn't me just imagining it. I see references to this issue on various websites and I saw at least one reference to new drivers but alas they were all for windows. I checked the repository and I have the latest and greatest HPLIP. Does this mean I have all of the latest drivers?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had just upgraded when after the first reboot I noticed that the black Ubuntu screen (with the little red/white dots) is actually white and buggy. It's unreadable and looks trashed.
After the first login, the desktop wasn't able to load properly, leaving me with a blinking, unresponsive icons and no menubars.
The only way to use the desktop environment is to choose Ubuntu Classic (both with and without effects) and Ubuntu Safe Mode.
I do have nvidia drivers installed (173).
I am trying to use Emerald Theme Manager and I have downloaded a theme, imported it and it's showing there but it won't change on the desktop.licking thheme...pressing enter while its highed...nothing changes
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the Fedora Live USB creator and the program consistently fails to load properly onto the flash drive. I have also downloaded the DVD iso program from this site and get only errors when trying to boot with an ISO burner? I am attempting to load the program on Sun Virtual Box, which is like VMare's Workstation, and the prompt consistently reads error when attempting to install. Also the progress bar on the Live USB loader never stops even after it the cmd prompt says it is complete.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUpgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 using standard Update Manager procedure. Now themes don't work. When I change the theme, the window decorations change accordingly, but the contents of the windows (controls, panels) are in the raw X look (I don't know how else to put it) and do not change regardless of theme selection. I've tried customizing the theme and selecting something different on the "Controls" tab, but it doesn't work.
X is working properly with Nvidia driver, Compiz is working properly as well. Killing Compiz didn't help with the theme problem.I used 64-bit Lucid, so I guess it upgraded to 64-bit Maverick.
I'm using RedHat 9. I've already installed java and azureus/vuze too but when i run azureus there is a problem.

That was the aim actually, when I decided to install Slackware 13.1 instead of the Win 7 on my new laptop.And here is one of the two things that I have to do now, to make the system completely the same as I want it to be.I use a black theme - Audacious - on my XFCE on Slackware 13.1. And the skype doesn't use the theme. It stays originally light.

I have Ubuntu 9.10 64-Bit. sometimes when i boot the computer, right after the grub loads, a black screen is displayed. It just says my computer's name and "tty1".It lets me enter my username and password. The system takes my password but the black screen remains.For some reason the word "ubuntu" with the loading bar does not appear like it is supposed to in this case. The system does not boot into my destop like it should.
This usually happens 1/4 times when i boot so i didnt pay much attention and would just restart the computer. However just 5 minutes ago i had to boot my computer 12 times to get it to boot into the desktop.
Whenever i close LMMS, it's still running in the background until i kill the process. How can i get it to exit normally?

Once I updated to 10.04 I had some problems with my themes, but updated it and it works fine now. BUT, in firefox, 3.6.3 it looks like this:
I can only see the personas image at the tabs and the statusbar. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I am trying to install some packages in a ubuntu 8.10 server, however, apt-get doesn't work (I get several 'not found' errors). Is there any way to do that? I know this version is probably not supported anymore but I can't just format a customer server because it's OS is outdated...I just can't put my sources.list on it because I am on ubuntu 10.10 and it would download updates for the wrong OS probably causing a huge damage on the old one.
