View 7 RepliesI want to know how to set Opera as the default web browser.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have another opera browser problem,i upgraded to version 10.53 build 6330 last week. it keeps crashing the cpu goes to 100% and wont come down, i had this problem with the previous version but its a lot worse with the new version.
also noticed that when browsing ebay the scroll is very jerky until you get about a third of the way down the page then it scrolls ok again.
i get the feeling the crashes are something to do with the flash player.
i tried to uninstall flash but i cannot get it to uninstall .
I am going to try Opera for 64-bit first since it is currently my favorite browser. Will this be the beginning of the end of all those flash related questions and problems?
View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I added more fonts to ~/.fonts directory. I launched Opera and the fonts are gone funny [image attached]. I don't have this problem in Firefox of Google Chrome/Chromium. I changed fonts in Opera >> Preferences but to no avail. Also I deleted .opera directory. No joy. The only solution I've found is to delete .fonts directory (but I want those fonts for other applications).

When I upgraded to Lucid, Opera browser has stopped being shown in the Ubuntu software center. Do I have to go to the repository to get it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've always used the repos at [URL] to get Opera both on Lenny and Squeeze.
So my sources.list has this line:
deb [URL] lenny non-free
But now I see these has not been updated since november 2009. Is there a newer repo somewhere? I know you can download opera from the opera website - but that is too much work when you have many computers to manage.
How can I install opera web browser? I don't have a working web browser in my files.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe version is 11.01 & the build is 1190. I've filled some fields at the Forms tab > Preferences > Settings > Menu. Attached to this post is an image of those fields. View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I've downloaded it it says:
The name org.freedesktop.PackageKit was not provided by any .service files
I'm on suse 11.2 gnome, 64bit.
The thing is that flash sucks for linux on 64-bit, performance vice. Due to this I actually download every clip to a temp folder and play the file while it's being downloaded with mplayer. This works really nice. Flash is not to play a video. Does there exist a plugin for this for any browser? I tried google, but I can't find the right words to search for. Edit: I did find a plugin for playing wmp things, that is not what I'm asking for!
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I tried to log in this morning I couldn't until I enabled Java scripts in my Opera browser. This must be something "new and improved". Could someone confirm this? I would prefer "old and lousy" rather than open up my computer to the world at large.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis problem one day popped out of nowhere in my ubuntu 9.04 firefox browser that I could not submit my reply on any forums. So I changed my browser to epiphany and then to opera but all failed then I installed arora and it worked. I don't know what is the problem with other browsers I just cannot submit a reply on any forums.

View 7 Replies View Relatedi just updated from karmic 9.10 to lucid 10.04 using the online upgrade option. so far everything is working great. the only issues i am having seem to involve firefox. when i visit videos i get the message "your browser is no longer supported. please upgrade to a modern browser." i am running 3.6 "canonical" so it is "modern". i am able to watch videos after i close the message. it's just an annoyance to get this message every time i view a video.
next, is on some websites (like this one) it will not supply my login info. but on a few sites (like ebay) it does supply my login info. not sure why some sites work while others don't. the info is there when i look under my saved passwords....
I can view a php page only with links browser (a text browser) But when i use firefox i got an error "Content encoding error"

After following instuctions here: [URL] After running this in the terminal: gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-key 6A423791

Where am I going wrong? And why is'nt there a 'ubuntu' installer that does this for you? Must this be done to every progarm I want to add?
I'm on ubuntu 10.04 32-bit desktop. Somehow Opera 10.60 is very slow to load. I just switched from FF to Opera, and (I'm pretty sure, might be dreaming though) that the first few days it was lightning fast.. and now it takes like 10+ secs to load any page.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just installed opera, copying over my sessions, history, cookies and so on over from SimplyMepis, and while it runs okay, there is only the 'file tab' available at the top of the screen as a pull down menu. I've noticed an applet at the top-right of my screen, which when right-clicked gives me a few options (downloads, history...), but this seems my lot. Where the heck is everything else? For one thing I want to restore a previous session.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Opera 11.10. I can't seem to uninstall it. There is no package related to it in Synaptics Package Manager. It isn't listed in the Software Center.
When I search for "opera" in Unity search it shows up and I can launch it. The launch command is "application://opera-browser.desktop/." but there is no file like that in /usr/share/applications folder.
Also, when I install Opera 11.50, then it installs separately and still launches 11.10 from the Unity search.
I'm surfing along just fine when I select some link in my browser. The status line reports "... waiting for ..." and the browser seems to stall for a long time (minutes). Often, but not every time, I can select the STOP toolbar icon and reload the page. This time things work normally.
I have a similar but different malfunction running Evolution email connected to my hosted IMAP server. I select a message and see "... formatting ..." and then Evolution seems to stall for a long time (minutes). Rarely the stop-reload actions help reading email. Instead, all Evolution windows go dark grey and the entire desktop stalls.[Analysis -- It has the feel of a "network" issue provoking issues within Evolution itself rather than an Evolution-only malfunction.]
Watching the running system with 'htop' and similar, I do not see where some other application or service is sucking all of the available CPU time or such. [Analysis -- It has the feel that either the browser message or the email message were sent into limbo without reaching their intended destination. Stop-reload sends the bits to the right places and so I get results.]
For some reason, i cannot set my default browser to Chromium. Whenever i open up Chromium, it asks whether it should be the default browser or not. I say yes i mean "Set as default" But nothing happens. When i open it again, i am greeted with the same question again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can get all the utube videos other website videos , but no BBC videos using U 9.10 and Opera 10.10. They work with FF or Using Opera in Fedora it works fine. I have all the usual Gstreamers, restricted extras/flash player etc. I read just about every post I can but see nothing I do not already have.
