Ubuntu Networking :: Recognize MSHOME But Doesn't Have Printer Listed In Other Models?

Oct 20, 2010

I have a PC for windows connected to my printer. On another PC I just installed & using 10.04 LTS. First of all I am unable to get Ubuntu to find, recognize & install the DCP 395 CN. Linux appears to recognize the MSHOME but does not have my printer listed in the Brother models? This is a wired system consisting of 2 computers through a dsl broadband router. The DCP 395 printer is connected to the Windows PC by USB, if that makes any difference . Would like to connect to the MSHOME or establish a Network that will work.

Ubuntu Networking :: Remove & Re-Install LAN - Can't - MSHOME And WORKGROUP Are In View

Feb 6, 2010

Here's what I have working now: one old Dell L933r (Ubuntu 8.04), one old homebuilt (Ubuntu 8.04), one Acer netbook (Ubuntu 9.10), and one HP netbook (Ubuntu 9.10); a Trendnet TEW-631BRP router; the Dell & the homebuilt are wired, and the netbooks are both wireless. The LAN was setup quite awhile ago, when I still had some Windows machines; I have no WIN machines now, and don't plan on any. There are times when I can "see" other machines on the LAN, and there are times when I can't - MSHOME and WORKGROUP are in view. How can I remove the LAN network in place, and start over, creating a LAN that will only be used by Ubuntu machines?

Ubuntu Networking :: Wireless Doesn't Recognize Password 10.04

May 8, 2010

I had the same problem with normal ubuntu, wubi or even after instaling it in a virtual pc

I've got a wireless router with a WEP security, when I choose my connection and put in the key it just tries for some time and then ask me again for the WEP key. And it goes like this on and on and on, I've tried to connect at some firends gome with the same kind of connection and it doesn't work either.

I think that in an older version I did connect to an unprotected connection but I cannot take out the protection because it is my roomsmate wifi.

My ISP provider doesn't use any type of authentic. My internet connection is automatically configured through my modem. How do I get Linux XP to recognize my internet connection and finish the final process so that I can load into desktop ?? I also had a very similar problem with Linux Ubuntu Studio as well. I installed it and I was able to get into the desktop but still was unable to establish an internet connection.

As my project/paper relates to simulating different types of applications like FTP, RTP, and SIP, as they relate to commercial products (VoIP, email, bittorrent, http) and congestion, I was wondering if anyone knows of any simulation models already available besides the example ones released by NS2 and the contributed code found at [URL]. Also, does anyone know of any tcl scripts that simulate specific applications (including the transport layer and Internet layer)? I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and NS2 2.34

Ubuntu Networking :: HP Printer Doesn't Work?

Aug 31, 2010

I am networked to a Windows machine. I can see and open files across the network. I can see and add my HP 6000 printer (it is on the Windows machine). On my Ubuntu machine this printer has a check mark by "Enabled" and "shared" but I cannot set it as default (that option is ghosted) and when I try to print a test page it says "unable to connect to CIFS host" I downloaded the HP Linux setup program. That program cannot locate the networked printer at all.

Ubuntu :: Intermittent Usb Printer - Sometimes The Printer Prints Sometimes It Doesn't

Mar 24, 2010

I have a parallel port printer connected using usb->parallel adapter. Sometimes the printer prints sometimes it doesn't.

A job will go the print queue and then sit there for ages. Sometimes if I unplug and then replug the usb->parallel cable the printer will print other times it will print half the document then freeze until the cable was unplugged and replugged again.

The printer never shows up in the list using lsusb (only my usb mouse and scanner do).

The printer is an hp deskjet 690c and worked fine under WinXP through a normal parallel cable. The one thing I haven't tested (but will test tomorrow) is the usb->parallel cable in XP.

Click on an XP box and I get.. You can stop this op etc' then I get the 'Unable to mount - Failed to retrieve share list from server' error. I have been on this for 3 days now and just about over it I'm sorry to say. The forums are thick with threads like mine without any definitive answers. I had a distro called MEPIS on before Ubuntu and with these same machines I was able to connect to the network without any problems so I am baffled why I can't now.
