I am networked to a Windows machine. I can see and open files across the network. I can see and add my HP 6000 printer (it is on the Windows machine). On my Ubuntu machine this printer has a check mark by "Enabled" and "shared" but I cannot set it as default (that option is ghosted) and when I try to print a test page it says "unable to connect to CIFS host" I downloaded the HP Linux setup program. That program cannot locate the networked printer at all.
I have tried all the usual stuff like: apt-get cups-pdf and similar things.
Of course I use the proper way (like sudo, etc.) The point is I can't print PDF files. Have a look at the image:

I have also modified to the cups-pdf.conf file and have directed it to /home/{USER}/PDF And yes the aforementioned folder (i.e. PDF) exists at its proper place.
So I think the main problem is "P2POutputStream" error which you can see in the image.
I have recently upgraded to 10.04 and subsequently to 10.10. I have a network printer Lexmark C530dn. Before the upgrade to 10.04 it work OK. After the upgrade i have this problem: When i print something it goes right to completed jobs, without an error and without printing. My user is allowed to print, I checked that.

When i print the self-test page, it prints fine, so I assume the problem's in the system rather than the printer.
I was always able to print with my HP OfficeJet 700 printer in Linux, but all of a sudden when I need to print something important, it doesn't work?! It says the print job stopped. It only printed 1/4 of 1/4 of what I needed to print. It has the correct print settings, etc... but I can't print?! Please help. It was able to print the test page before, but now even that won't print. Even CUPS is having problems connecting to the server. Printing in Windows has the same problem.
I've bought a HP Photosmart printer, HP Photosmart wireless e-All-in-One printer - B110a and i've got a problem installing it properly. I'm using Debian 6.0 Squeeze. When i connect the printer, Debian doesn't recognize my printer as the Photosmart B109 printer for unknown reason. When i go to the site of HP and search for a driver, it directs me to this site:I've downloaded that latest hplip file as a .run file and installed it. My printer is recognized proparly, but when i try to print a colored image, it comes out black/white. Something is not crrect. Does anyone recognize this problem with this type HP printer?
I am trying to get the QL1060N to print and cut under Jessie.
I used the Ql1060N on wheezy (cups 1.5.3) with the standard Brother driver and the ptouch/foomatic driver of the QL550. They both worked out of the box.
On Jessie (cups 1.7.5): I first tried the standard Brother driver from here: [URL] ....It didn't work at all. When I print, Cups tells me that the job has been completed, even though nothing has been done. Sometimes I also got the error "job canceled, filter failed", but I can't reproduce this error...
The foomatic/ptouch driver for the QL550 prints like it did before, but doesn't cut the lables automatically like it used to in wheezy. (I'm using the same printing file/picture as in wheezy and also the same configuration.)
I recently had problems with my HP printer in Fedora 12, where as I never had a problem with it in any other distrubution.... For some reason, the HPLIP driver in the repo doesn't work correctly... I don't know why... but I kept getting errors with "error: Printer queue setup failed. Please restart CUPS and try again."
I tried every suggestion I found... which was installing extra dependencies, disabling firewall, disabling SELinux and a whole bunch of other stuff... but nothing worked... THEN finally I decided to use the HPLIP driver from the HP website... it was a .run file... and I executed it, and my printer has worked perfect eversince..... my question is.... has anybody successfully installed their hp printer from the hplip driver in the repo's..??? I don't know why it didn't work for me, and i've seen other fedora users complain of the same thing? maybe theres something wrong with the package? or its not pulling in a needed dependency? I don't know...
i have a hp 6500 e709a printer. have configured for network printing and would like to use the scan facility.i have tried to scan from the printer but it does not find the computer. the hp documents mention advanced firewall information on incoming udp ports and tcp ports etci believe it is with my machine as my son has a windows box with the hp software and i have managed to scan from that machine.
I have a PC for windows connected to my printer. On another PC I just installed & using 10.04 LTS. First of all I am unable to get Ubuntu to find, recognize & install the DCP 395 CN. Linux appears to recognize the MSHOME but does not have my printer listed in the Brother models? This is a wired system consisting of 2 computers through a dsl broadband router. The DCP 395 printer is connected to the Windows PC by USB, if that makes any difference . Would like to connect to the MSHOME or establish a Network that will work.
I have a parallel port printer connected using usb->parallel adapter. Sometimes the printer prints sometimes it doesn't.
A job will go the print queue and then sit there for ages. Sometimes if I unplug and then replug the usb->parallel cable the printer will print other times it will print half the document then freeze until the cable was unplugged and replugged again.
The printer never shows up in the list using lsusb (only my usb mouse and scanner do).
The printer is an hp deskjet 690c and worked fine under WinXP through a normal parallel cable. The one thing I haven't tested (but will test tomorrow) is the usb->parallel cable in XP.
I am having what seems from the forum to be a common problem, getting a shared printer to work. Many similar posts to mine go unanswered for weeks. I have this annoying problem since day one.I am testing out Red Hat RHEL5, everything is fine except DNS look up.If I ping www.google.com, it doesn't work, ping ip address it all works;if I bring up browser, put www.google.com it doesn't work, can't find the name, however, simply put ip address there it works.My DNS seeting seems ok, and the DNS works from Windows box.
I have a Fedora 11 box with an HP Laserjet 1000 (connected by USB) a Windows XP machineBoth are on the same network. I am desperately trying to share the printer to the Windows XP box using IPP. The Windows XP machine recognizes the printer queue, configures correctly and then ... nothing. It simply does not print ! I had previously been having loads of problems getting my wireless printer to work with Linux [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1453697]. Everything is working fine now. However, something that confused me is that whenever I tried to ping the printer _before_ I got it working, it would fail with a _different_ IP address. That is, the command 'ping x.y.z.3' would fail with a message saying it was unable to contact 'x.y.z.2'
Now I am looking at my router - for something unrelated - and I've noticed that rogue IP address shows up in the list of connected devices. It has a MAC address but for the device name it lists "<unknown>". Should I be concerned about this? how to figure out what this device is?
I have recently installed ubuntu 10.04. After some days of trying I can say that ekiga doesn't work with 10.04. With the same computer I was perfectly able to use ekiga with ubuntu 8.1, the 10.04 gives me connections problems.... it simply say says "Could not register (Failed)".I'm trying to connect with my voip provider (12voip.com) but it seems that I can't. I have even tried other programs like empathy, Twinkle, QuteCom but with none of them I can connect with my voIP provider. I think there are some connection problems but I really don't know how to face them. We have to configure router in 10.04 for sip connection? Actually I can't phone at all.
I've tried to use netcat in the past and assumed it was my stupidity that was preventing it from working... but this is getting ridiculous. I'll execute nc -l 3333 on a server at 192.168.0.105 (after opening it on the firewall of course) then I run nc 192.168.0.105 3333 on my laptop (from 192.168.0.101). and nothing happens... i start typing and nothing comes up on the terminal.
I run nc -z 192.168.0.105 80 which should ideally do a port scan of port 80 on that server (of which I'm running a web server that clearly works) but it doesnt even give me any feedback. Nothing happens. Now when I use the verbose flag i see that I am indeed connecting to the specified port on the server successfully (so the port scan one is a success but only with the verbose flag... which shouldnt be the case I believe). But still once I have the server listening and the laptop connected... I type in both windows and nothing happens...
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop. Up until about a week ago, my wireless worked fine, but now it rarely connects. Sometimes the connection indicator shows that I am connected, but when I click on it it doesn't show any active networks. Even when I use a wired connection it doesn't always work.
i have had my bluetooth keyboard and mouse working fine for a little while now, then one day.. seemingly out of the blue (no pun intended) it stopped. heres what i deduced:

i've installed it on my parents old computer, mostly for downloading. But wired internet did work all the time but then i had to reset our router because of some problems and now it doesn't work anymore! But the strange thing is, if i put the cable on my own laptop with windows on it, then it works as normal.
So i guess its some kind of DNS problem, but i'm very new with ubuntu and also not so good with computers. Our network is simple just an modem connected to an router: Sitecome WL-341.
Networking on Fedora 11 doesn't work for me on various machines. Fedora 10 does, but only if you don't do an update.Why does Fedora get worse the more you keep it up-to-date?
I just upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10. When I restarted, I admired the new login menu, then went to Firefox. I noticed that my wireless didn't work (it did in 9.04) Thinking I'd just need to reinstall the drivers, I plugged in the computer to a working Ethernet outlet with a working cord. I noticed that Ubuntu didn't tell me that Auto eth0 was connected. It didn't tell me anything. And then I went to Google and realized that the wired connection didn't work either. Then I came here on an iPod Touch and you know the rest.
I really want to convert over to ubuntu and use ubuntu netbook remix on my new netbook but I've had a hell of a time trying to get it to access the internet, I've tried installing drivers but I don't really know how.

setup consist of three machines: 2 servers (A and B)(ubuntu) and my local laptop Server A is a company controlled server which holds project data Server B is our office local server, which we use for development purposes. The problem occurs when i ssh from my local laptop to server B. After loggin in, i execute a script to transfer data from A to B. This script mounts server A using gvfs-mount. It fails to mount completely and gives me the following error

However if i log onto server B, using the servers keyboard and monitor (using a gnome session) i can execute the line. To verify that it's something related to the ssh login, i tried the following: (My local laptop is also running ubuntu) from laptop open a terminal. See the gvfs mount work as expected. open another terminal and ssh localhost tried to execute gvfs-mount from the local ssh session and i get the above mentioned error. After googling a bit, i found that it might related to dbus (which i know _nothing_ about) and i tried

On my HP TX2500 laptop, dual-booting Vista and 9.04, Ubuntu installation found the WLAN and it works fine.I installed VirtualBox with Vista as the host and 9.04 as the guest. Wired Ethernet works fine but it didn't seem to find my WLAN. What more do I need to do?
I try to do wireless man-in-the middle attack with my ASUS laptop and I've alreay got two wlan adaptors, a built-in Atheros NE-785H and a TP-LINK TL-W322G USB wireless adaptor. Either of them is to act as a rogue access point (soft AP). The biult-in adaptor works well but I just can't get the TP-LINK working properly.

I'm running Karmic with 2.6.31-19, according to the Ubuntu help page it should work out of the box, but it just wouldn't work for me. I only got it working with ndiswrapper, which is clearly not what I want to use since it's not supported by aircrack-ng.

I have a desktop pc with xubuntu 9.10 32bit installed. I don't have direct access to this machine, but they told me that internet is not working (firefox, synaptic,etc...), but only skype works! If they reboot on windows, everything works well, so it's not a matter of connection or dns.It's very important because they work with that computer. I installed Ubuntu10.04, It cannot driver Wired network and wireless. Later I installed linuxMint9, wireless is ok, but wired network doesn't work. I am sure the lan cable is ok. It works in Windows.
I'm working on Lucid, in HP Pavilion 9730us laptop.
My wireless broadcom card was working just fine until now as i installed it with the Hardware Devices manager, Today i put a new ALFA AWUS036H usb card to work with aircrack. both cards were working together for a while, but as i started playing around with aircrack the broadcom card of the HP has stopped working.
I made a mistake and followed the aircrack tutorial for R8187 / ieee80211 stacks driver, while i'm using RTL 8187 / mac80211 stack drivers, and blacklisted the RTL8187 , rebooted and then both card didn't work. I un-blacklisted it, and the ALFA is working but the broadcom not!
iwconfig shows me only one wireless card on wlan0 the blue light showing activity in the HP card doesn't go on.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall broadcom drivers, still no change.
