Ubuntu Networking :: Install BCM4328 - No Such File Or Directory At / Usr / Sbin / Ndiswrapper 1.9 Line 219
Jul 22, 2010
I'm trying to install a BCM4328 (rev 03) 14e4:4328 (rev 03) by using this page: [URL]... But when I get to this step: Step 3: All BCM43xx - Configure NDISWrapper (and WPA Supplicant) sudo ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf I keep getting:
jeffrey@jeffrey-desktop:~/bcm43xx$ sudo ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
couldn't open bcmwl5.inf: No such file or directory at /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper-1.9 line 219. What am I doing wrong?

I followed the internet threat to install ndiswrapper
1. downloaded ndiswrapper.tar & untar it
2. type: make KBUILD=/usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-164.11.1.el5-x86_64/
it prompted me:
[root@circuit ndiswrapper-1.55]# make KBUILD=/usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-164.11.1.el5-x86_64/
make -C driver
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/ndiswrapper-1.55/driver'

I am using Debian Lenny as my server to host multiple databases.
Whenever, I used to add a new database, I used to add an IP address like eth0:test in the /etc/network/interfaces file.
Today when I tried to do the same, I got an error when I tried to start the interface by typing "#ifup eth0:test". I also tried to do in this way "#ifconfig eth0:test up" but both of then yielded the same error saying "/sbin/ifconfig: no such file or directory".
The path is valid and the files are also present there. There are ifup, ifdown, if and ifconfig files in the /sbin directory. I also checked the permissions which is root:root. But still I cannot find the problem.

I am trying to find the ip address on my Red Hat Linux box, but there is no ipconfig file in my /sbin/ directory. I did a 'locate ipconfig' in the terminal and the only files I got were plipconfig, sipconfig.py/c/o, plipconfig.8.gz, ipconfig.h. I dont know what happened to my ipconfig file. Where I can get a new copy of it?

i'm using Centos 5.3 (2.6.27.10-grsec-xxxx-grs-ipv4-64 x86_64 kernel) and i got a problem with installing apf/configuring iptables. It seems that my kernel doesn't support Loadeble Kernel Modules. I'm receiving following message when catting /proc/modules: Quote: cat: /proc/modules: No such file or directory /sbin/modprobe -l FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.27.10-grsec-xxxx-grs-ipv4-64/modules.dep: No such file or directory

i've patched the source files to be installed on f14 and finally got a succesfull install, ndiswrapper -l comes back with driver installed and presentwhen i run modprobe ndiswrapper i get "FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found" after many hours of google searching and reading various threads i cannont seem to find a solution to this apart from manualy coping the ndiswrapper.ko file but when i use that solution modprobe starts ndiswrapper but there is no wlan0 present in iwconfig.now for some reason even wheni move the ndiswrapper.ko file manually it still is giving me that error. this worked earlier as i mentioned but then i reinstalled ndiswrapper hoping something went wrong but still got the same error so i tried that same fix and i'm still getting that error. i can't figure out what i migt've done differently earlier but i'm not having any luck.

I've just plugged my old ubuntu 8.04 drive which used to run on an amd dual core 64 bit machine onto into my new intel duo core 64-Bit box. uname -a gives:Linux aegis 2.6.24-22-generic #1 SMP mon Nov 24 19:35:06 UTC 2008 X86_64 Gnu/Linux. what i'm aiming to do is install the netgear wg311v3 wireless card drivers using ndiswrapper. The ubuntu box is currently offline and i've gone to URL...
my question is can I download and safely install ndiswrapper-utils-1.9_1.54-2ubuntu1_amd64.deb or is there an intel specific package that I should be looking for?

I've usually never had much of a problem setting up wireless with ndiswrapper and ubuntu. I decided to give KUduntu a try, and for the love of me I cannot install ndiswrapper:
Code:
Reading package lists Done Building dependency tree Reading state information Done Package ndiswrapper-utils is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source However, the following packages replace it: ndiswrapper-common E: Package ndiswrapper-utils has no installation candidate I'm pretty sure I've added all the repositories in the sources. What am I doing wrong?

I am having some issues getting the broadcom sta driver installed on Kernels 2.6.36 up through 2.6.38.
Before I continue, I'll list my specs
Release: Xubuntu 10.04.2 LTS (64-Bit)
Wireless Card: Broadcom BCM4328
Kernel: 2.6.38-x (Any version), and 2.6.36 and above
EDIT: Yes! Yes! I got it to work, for those that are having issues, install this packages. Disregard that it says that there is an older version available in a software. The bcmwl-kernel-source for Natty works on Lucid![URL]... Install one of these and check your Hardware Drivers, they will probably say that the Broadcom STA driver is installed but not in use. If you then proceed to restart it should be up and running, this way you can use kernels 2.6.36+ and still use the Broadcom STA driver!

I can't get sed to actually change the file, clearly there's something basic not working, can anyone point me in the right direction? I know nothing about scripting. Oh yeah, all the directories have spaces which was why so elaborated.
find . -name "*epub" | while read file; do unzip -o "$file" content.opf && mv content.opf content.opf.bak && sed 's/<dc:language>UND</dc:language>/<dc:language xsi:type="dcterms:RFC4646">EN</dc:language>/' < content.opf.bak > content.opf && zip "$file" content.opf && rm -f content.* ; done

I'm running a server with CentOS 5 where the software that needs to run on the server uses ifconfig to verify the system IPv4.The problem is that /sbin isn't set for the user that is supposed to run the software (sadmin) which means the software can't execute ifconfig and thus terminates.now the workaround I've been using is simply to input.

Let's get clear with all bin and sbin folders(from filesystem hierarchy standard):
So the question is: Why there are so many directories and what are the meanings of /usr/sbin, /usr/local/sbin and /usr/local/bin?
Many programs are distributed through archives and we have to build them from source code. Usually they have makefile so it's quite easy. This process involves creating files in usr/local/lib, usr/local/bin... usr/local/whatever without creating specific folders for a given program.
I think it's not right because if we need to remove the program we have to manually delete every of its files if the program's creator didn't take care of it.
