i've patched the source files to be installed on f14 and finally got a succesfull install, ndiswrapper -l comes back with driver installed and presentwhen i run modprobe ndiswrapper i get "FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found" after many hours of google searching and reading various threads i cannont seem to find a solution to this apart from manualy coping the ndiswrapper.ko file but when i use that solution modprobe starts ndiswrapper but there is no wlan0 present in iwconfig.now for some reason even wheni move the ndiswrapper.ko file manually it still is giving me that error. this worked earlier as i mentioned but then i reinstalled ndiswrapper hoping something went wrong but still got the same error so i tried that same fix and i'm still getting that error. i can't figure out what i migt've done differently earlier but i'm not having any luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOriginally I used YAST's Software Packages to download and install ndiswrapper so that I can set up my Netgear wn511TA wireless card to work with GNOME openSUSE 11.2 default (2.6.31.8-0.1-default). I followed the guide in Ndiswrapper - openSUSE. I almost got it then was thrown off course by Network Manager. Now, back to square one. 1. Software Management shows 3 installed packages: ndiswrapper, ndiswrapper-kmp default and ndiswrapper desktop. Which of these should I run in order to install the Windows .INF driver file?
e.g. <ndiswrapper> -i <windriver.inf>
or <ndiswrapper-kmp-default> -i <windriver.inf>
The reason for this is when I modprobe <ndiswrapper(?)>, I got: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.31.8-0.1-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory. /etc/lib/modules is blank but home/user/lib/modules has the default 2.6.31.8-0.1-default module.
My Samsung N140 netbook has an RTL8192 wireless interface in it, which still doesn't appear to work natively in Linux (but that's another story for a different forum) and i've just recently upgraded to F14 from F12 but i can't find ndiswrapper anywhere.
For previous versions, it was available from rpmfusion, but it doesn't seem to be there for F14. Has its name changed or something?
I am trying to install ndiswrapper for a netgear wna1100. My nic card is fried so the only way I can use the Internet is with the USB card. I am running fedora core 13 on an older Dell computer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter un-installing ndiswrapper my wireless USB is not being found I can't use it. I have no idea what's going on. My searches have been fruitless and I only have so much longer that I can connect directly to the router. Then I have no internet connection. I have even thought about re-installing or distro hopping, but I like Fedora and don't really want to do that. I have always been told no matter the problem there is always a way around without re-installing, eg this is not Windows.

Checking the forum, I ran across something saying that I had to compile from source. This is in Fedora 13. Can I get it working with "point-and-click," or do I have do something that requires some thought?( I don't have many of those.)

I'm trying to configure ndiswrapper but when I run

I know it needs usbcore so I run

View 4 Replies View Related1: how do you install the ndiswrapper GUI? since i'm coming from a windows background, a little visual would help me out alot. also, whenever i type in "su - yum install kmod-ndiswrapper" it says its setting up the install process, then it says, "no package kmod-ndiswrapper, nothing to do" i have RPMfusion free/nonfree repos installed along with livna repos. can somebody tell me what's wrong?
2: for whatever reason, whenever i plug in my wireless card, i works for about 10 mins. or so, then if i have in my corded optical mouse plugged in, everything goes wrong. first the mouse starts moving in frame by frame, but when i use the built in trackpad it works fine, stranger even is that i can move my mouse around, but whenever i click on something, it doesn't respond. it doesn't ever do this when i use the ethernet port.

I've usually never had much of a problem setting up wireless with ndiswrapper and ubuntu. I decided to give KUduntu a try, and for the love of me I cannot install ndiswrapper:

I really wanted to try out Fedora 12, but my workstation does not have a LAN available so I am using a usb-dongle - netgear wg111v2. View 9 Replies View RelatedUbuntu Server Edition, 32bit, fresh install today (2011.07.07). Usually the first thing thing I do after a server install, I update, upgrade... then install Emacs to configure services. I can get to it from my other servers and PC's, have an internet connections from that server // so I know things should be okay...
I'm thinking maybe it's a repo problem in my source list... and I'm not sure what repo Emacs is from. I'd like to check this, before doing a reinstall on this. I had just added in the mounts & fstabs on my data RAID arays... Would be more work, but still not too far into it.
I installed ndiswrapper and tried adding a driver. Error: module ndiswrapper not found. So I recompiled my kernel, upgrading to 2.6.33.4 (no, I can't see the logical connection either) After a week, I got the new kernel working ( in the interim I reinstalled debian- it didn't survive my first kernel attempt. don't ask), and reinstalled ndiswrapper. Same problem. So I had a stoke of genius: download the source package!! So I did. Lo and behold, a new directory appeared in /usr/src/ : modules. I took a moment to admire my work, then I jumped in.I 'ls'ed to see what was going on, and found a Makefile. so I typed 'make'. First error: kernel source not found. So I entered the Makefile, found the(clearly marked)variable, and changed it to /usr/src/linux-2.6.33.4 , exited, and redid 'make' Second error: no wireless support in kernel. So I went to src/linux-2.6.33.4 and did a make menuconfig- loaded my current, threw in wireless, and exited.

I need an update on the ndiswrapper sottware package. Previously, when I totally rebuilt my laptop, I was able to find and install the ndiswrapper RPM from somewhere using the Add/Remove software tool provided in CenTOS 4.x - it worked great! The last time I used this was about a year ago - probably Dec 09.I am currently rebuilding my laptop and anticipated be able to find and install the ndiswrappper as before. My current search doesn't find it! Did I miss something here? Is there a server down - or possiblly is this just no longer available using the Add/Remove tool?
View 17 Replies View RelatedToday I was using Gchempaint (part of Gnome Chemistry Tools) and found that the F12 version fails miserably to correctly export H to xyz. So I decided to install the latest version I found (0.11). There are, however, some problems I must sort out during compilation.
Apparently it does not see my 'cairo' installation and so I get the following error message:

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix.Alternatively, you may set the environment variables cairo_CFLAGS and cairo_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details.
I have searched far and wide for a sulution in installing 'ndiswrapper' for my 'Netgear WG111v2'I seemed to had no problem in getting it to work when I used to run Ubuntu. I have recently migrated to Fedora and have been having quite some trouble in getting this sry little dongle to work.I have tried a number of solutions including installing 'livna' as I have read somewhere that the needed wrapper is contained within that package, however, when I tried installing I would get the following results.

I'm having some problems getting the GUI installed in my Server 10.04 installation.
I've installed the Ubuntu server 10.04 32bit with a VMWare player on a Windows XP Pro host. Everything seems to have gone ok but at the end of the install it said that VMWare items are being installed and while that happens I can only use the terminal mode or I could wait for the GUI to load. Well the GUI never loaded so I logged in through the terminal.
I realized immediately that I'm over my head as I'm more familiar with DOS rather than bash or the terminal commands of Ubuntu. So I tried to look up on the internet (from my host machine) on how to start or install the GUI interface for the server. I've found lots of things that show commands like:
sudo apt-get install gnome gdm
or
sudo aptitude install gnome-core
but in all cases I get a message that the package is not found. So I'm wondering how do I find the package so that I can install this?
