Fedora Networking :: 14 X64 Ndiswrapper Modprobe Ndiswrapper Module Not Found?
Jan 28, 2011
i've patched the source files to be installed on f14 and finally got a succesfull install, ndiswrapper -l comes back with driver installed and presentwhen i run modprobe ndiswrapper i get "FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found" after many hours of google searching and reading various threads i cannont seem to find a solution to this apart from manualy coping the ndiswrapper.ko file but when i use that solution modprobe starts ndiswrapper but there is no wlan0 present in iwconfig.now for some reason even wheni move the ndiswrapper.ko file manually it still is giving me that error. this worked earlier as i mentioned but then i reinstalled ndiswrapper hoping something went wrong but still got the same error so i tried that same fix and i'm still getting that error. i can't figure out what i migt've done differently earlier but i'm not having any luck.

I'm trying to configure ndiswrapper but when I run
Code:
modprobe ndiswrapper
it says
Code:
FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found.
I know it needs usbcore so I run
Code:
modinfo usbcore
modinfo: could not find module usbcore
So How should I get usbcore working?

My current situation is that the command "sudo modprobe ndiswrapper" is not responding, nothing happens. I am using [URL] as my guide and the "sudo modprobe ndiswrapper" is my next step. Here is some general information that you might ask for:
I received ndiswrapper utilities from "Synaptic Package Manager"
I was using jaunty jackelop before hand and the instructions worked perfectly but I decided to update to Karmic Koala 9.10 (I first installed the cloud enterprise version and realized that was way over my head).

I installed ndiswrapper and tried adding a driver. Error: module ndiswrapper not found. So I recompiled my kernel, upgrading to 2.6.33.4 (no, I can't see the logical connection either) After a week, I got the new kernel working ( in the interim I reinstalled debian- it didn't survive my first kernel attempt. don't ask), and reinstalled ndiswrapper. Same problem. So I had a stoke of genius: download the source package!! So I did. Lo and behold, a new directory appeared in /usr/src/ : modules. I took a moment to admire my work, then I jumped in.I 'ls'ed to see what was going on, and found a Makefile. so I typed 'make'. First error: kernel source not found. So I entered the Makefile, found the(clearly marked)variable, and changed it to /usr/src/linux-2.6.33.4 , exited, and redid 'make' Second error: no wireless support in kernel. So I went to src/linux-2.6.33.4 and did a make menuconfig- loaded my current, threw in wireless, and exited.

I updated to the latest kernel from Suse 11.2 repo. My wireless device won't load firmwares, ndiswrapper won't be a module anymore etc. :
Code:

FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found.
linux-kqzq:/home/olivier/T l chargement/fwextract3 # find /usr -name ndiswrapper
/usr/sbin/ndiswrapper

linux-kqzq:/home/olivier/T l chargement/fwextract3 # find /lib -name ndiswrapper*

linux-kqzq:/home/olivier/T l chargement/fwextract3 # uname -r

2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop is uname

I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on an old PC to make it usable. After some research I was able to get my netgear usb wireless network adapter WG121 to work and connect to the network using ndiswrapper, although at startup I have to open a terminal and type Code: sudo modprobe ndiswrapper before it works. Is there a way to get this to automatically run?

I'm running Fedora 12 LXDE spin on a netbook (Asus EeePC) and have successfully installed a wireless driver using ndiswrapper. The only problem is that every time I reboot, I need to use the "modprobe ndiswrapper" command to load the module.
Is there a way to load the ndiswrapper module during the boot process?

After un-installing ndiswrapper my wireless USB is not being found I can't use it. I have no idea what's going on. My searches have been fruitless and I only have so much longer that I can connect directly to the router. Then I have no internet connection. I have even thought about re-installing or distro hopping, but I like Fedora and don't really want to do that. I have always been told no matter the problem there is always a way around without re-installing, eg this is not Windows.

I'm trying to get a Belkin f5d8010 working. I installed ndiswrapper from Add/Remove software, but when it was done, I couldn't find it. Checking the forum, I ran across something saying that I had to compile from source. This is in Fedora 13. Can I get it working with "point-and-click," or do I have do something that requires some thought?( I don't have many of those.)

I have a problem with the fritz!wlan usb stick. I have installed itth success on another PC by using instructions published here Ndiswrapper - openSUSE.Today I have decided to erase WindowsXP from my wife's computer (that is an identical to the one I use). So I have downloaded the OpenSuse 11.2 DVD and I have performed a completely new installation from DVD.After installation has been executed with success, I have decided to install an internet connection using the istructions above. I told to myself: "it will take 5 minutes, all I must to do is to reply action I have done one month ago... the internet usb-stick is the same, so it will be easy to replicate the process..."I was wrong... When I reach the point where I must "modprobe" the ndiswrapper module I receive what follows:
Code:
linux-2n4g:/home/mila/Desktop # modprobe ndiswrapper
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper, it will be ignored in

I am trying to set up wireless on my desktop. It has no internet whatsoever, I could hook up ethernet but I would have to transfer the whole computer across the house. I installed ndiswrapper from the installation CD. I also installed NDISGTK which is some GUI with the ndiswrapper. I clicked Install New Driver, I am pretty sure I have all the other necessary files along with the mn710.inf, but I get the error:"Module could not be loaded. Error was:FATAL: Could not read '/lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko': No such file or directory"After clicking ok, it shows the driver there, but my card is still not working, no lights or anything. Does anyone know what that error is and how I can get it working?

I am trying to enable wpa2 aes encryption on fedora. The wifi access was working fine with WEP and system-config-network but recently somebody hacked into my network and I had to switch back to wpa2 aes encryption. Looking at previous posts, I can see that a lot of people have used wpa supplicant and ndiswrapper to enable this. A post from 2006 even explains how to enable this: [URL]?t=93054 Using Add/Remove software, I have installed wpa_gui and ndiswrapper kernel module, but it doesn't work. I don't see my wlan0 in wpa_gui.

sometime back when installing FC10, i tried installing ndis wrapper, and later i installed the broadcom driver bcm431 (i think). also i didn't remove the ndis wrapper.
all was fine untill a yesterday when ndis wrapper and some related packages got updated which somehow caused wireless to stop working. lspci showed the hardware present.
to get it to work, i did a yum erase ndis-wrapper, followed by a reboot.
it may not be the most elegent way, but it worked for me.
hardware specs:acer aspire 4720Z (mine has broadcom wireless, others may have atheros)

This laptop arrived in the post yesterday and everything on f15 works out of the box except wireless.Digging out an old ethernet cable I was finally able to get wireless working by doing the following: First install ndiswrapper. We'll be using rpmfusion for this so you'll need to
[Code]...
After a reboot it all loaded and worked fine, just remember to make sure the little light on the f12 button is blue, not red. This guide should work for other laptops and other distros as well (though obviously you'll likely need a different driver file to start off with).

I am trying to make a d-link dwl-650+ pcmcia card work through ndiswrapper method following the direction at:[URl]... The first step there is to install the "kmod-ndiswrapper" via yum.
But, how would I just download this package to a usb drive so that I can transfer it to the laptop that needs wireless networking. Is there an option in yum where I can just download the package, not intstall, so that I can save it somewhere?

I am trying to connect to my WEP enabled wireless network. I have a pci wireless card with chipset id 10ec:8190, and installed the driver (net8190p.inf) with ndiswrapper on Ubuntu Linux 8.10. I am able to connect when I disable WEP, so I'm sure that the driver is installed correctly and is working. I am connected now from XP with WEP enabled. How to get my Ubuntu distro connected here?

So after a quick look around the forums, I haven't seen anything on removing ndiswrapper. What I have done is removed ndiswrapper via synaptic. Now in order to start my wireless card I have to issue:
rmmod ndiswrapper
modprobe ath9k
ifconfig wlan0 up
Basically this is a pain. Does anyone know how to get rid of ndiswrapper completely and set things up to use ath9k automatically?

I recently installed Ubuntu 11.04 to run a Minecraft Server. Now against better judgement and seeing that it is only for 7 people, I decided to use a wireless usb card to connect to the internet. Well, I was told that I was going to have to install ndiswrapper. I downloaded it on my Mac and used a USB drive to transfer it to my desktop. I then double clicked and extracted. I then did this in the terminal:
Code:
To run a command as administrator (user "root"), use "sudo <command>". See "man sudo_root" for details.
