CentOS 5 :: Install / Configure Empathy - Gnome Doc Utils Not Found
Mar 2, 2010I want to install the Empathy on my CentOS. And I configured, then I got a resposes:
checking gnome-doc-utils >= 0.17.3... no
configure: error: gnome-doc-utils >= 0.17.3 not found
But when I run "yum install gnome-doc-utils"
The system respond:

Jul 22, 2010I am building a replacement mail server and need to get cyrus-imap running on this machine. That package requires the db4-utils package, and yum blows up trying to install it as follows:

Ubuntu Networking :: E: Couldn't Find Package Ndiswrapper-utils-1.9
Jan 5, 2010just loaded 9.10 and trying to install the NDIS wrapper so I can use my USB wirless adaptor. Executed the command
sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 as read in one of the forums and received the following error:
E: couldn't find package ndiswrapper-utils-1.9
both the tar version and the unzippedversion are on my desktop but I'm not sure they are installed and I don't know what to install. I've clicked every file in every folder most seem to be instructions not what I know as executables.
SUSE / Novell :: Bluez-utils Package Does Not Seem To Be Available From The Official 11.2 Repo?
Mar 26, 2010I used to share my internet connection for my palm via bluetooth dund on opensuse 10.1. Now I upgraded to opensuse 11.2, and have been trying to configure the same for 5 hours, without success. The problem is: dund seems to be in bluez-utils, but this package does not seem to be available from the official opensuse 11.2 repo. It is available from an unofficial one, but that is version 3.x and it conflicts with the version 4.x package of bluez. So, I either have bluez 4.x or bluez-utils 3.x, whilst I would need both.
Is there a solution for this problem, or any other way to share internet via bluetooth? (All previous howtos seem to be rendered useless with the recent "developments" of bluez, but, hey, file sending to my palm still works to some extent, so, there is much room for more "developments" until bluetooth is rendered completely unuseable).
Edit: In a changelog at a RedHat site, I found that the bluez-utils package was integrated into the bluez package, and later some tools like dund were split out into a bluez-compat package. Maybe the same happened to bluez in opensuse, too. But I have both the bluez and the bluez-compat packages installed, and hcid and sdpd are nowhere. Where did they disappear during the very important re-organization of bluez tools?
Edit2: Kind of solved. Hcid was renamed to bluetoothd, and probably the other tools and config files changed names, too. Old howto's are in fact useless, and I am about to sacrifize my next days in order to become a blootooth expert just to configure this wrecked internet sharing.

I'm using SBo script to compile gnucash, with all the listed dependencies built successfully (in orderly manner). System multilib is configured as per alien's wiki. Is there something else I'm missing here?

May 3, 2011I noticed that in Fedora 15 Beta when you choose a minimal install then add ONLY the defaults of the "GNOME Desktop" package, you will get this error: gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 has a required package:
system-backgrounds-gnome
When I look for gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 it is not on any installation menu list. I prefer gnome, but installed KDE and that worked. Any ideas of getting gnome to work?

Jan 23, 2010I have a strange problem with my MINI Ubuntu. I am able to shutdown -h now and restart with power button, as long as I don't install pm-utils. If I install pm-utils, the computer turns of after shutdown -h now, but will not wake up after I press the power button. Light goes on, drives are running, but no BEEP.

Ubuntu Servers :: Package Not Found While Install Gnome-core On 10.04
Jul 29, 2010I'm having some problems getting the GUI installed in my Server 10.04 installation.
I've installed the Ubuntu server 10.04 32bit with a VMWare player on a Windows XP Pro host. Everything seems to have gone ok but at the end of the install it said that VMWare items are being installed and while that happens I can only use the terminal mode or I could wait for the GUI to load. Well the GUI never loaded so I logged in through the terminal.
I realized immediately that I'm over my head as I'm more familiar with DOS rather than bash or the terminal commands of Ubuntu. So I tried to look up on the internet (from my host machine) on how to start or install the GUI interface for the server. I've found lots of things that show commands like:
sudo apt-get install gnome gdm
or
sudo aptitude install gnome-core
but in all cases I get a message that the package is not found. So I'm wondering how do I find the package so that I can install this?

Sep 6, 2010I just installed 32-bit CentOS 5.5 in a Vmware virtual machine. I'm unable to install RPMs from either the graphical U/I (Pirut) or CLI (Yum). Pirut stops responding (no screen repainting) after displaying the "Updating software" dialog; Yum gets to the display of "Running Transaction" where it hangs. The initial installation (from the net-install ISO) obviously succeeded, and the after-install update of about 50 packages also worked fine.
yum.log contains nothing past the entries made during the initial install. Because I had a problem with corrupted files from a mirror during installation I tried using the baseurl setting in CentOS-Base.repo instead of mirrorlist, but that had no effect.
