Ubuntu Networking :: Wireless WUSB600Nv1 - 64bit 11.04?

Jun 12, 2011

I am a new member to this forum, as am i a new convert to the linux cause and crusade.I have a dual boot running at present with Win7 and Ubuntu 11.04 64bit i love my linux, i prefer to use it rather than Win. but my Linksys WUSB600N is really giving me the shits as it does not want to work. unfortunately i do not know enough yet about linux to be able to sort it out myself.

i have identified my hardware Bus 001 Device 002: ID 1737:0071 Linksys WUSB600N Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adaptor. and downloaded some drivers for the RT3572STA linux drivers but, i do not know how to install them.

Ubuntu Networking :: No Wireless Gateway MT6458 - 10.10 64bit

Feb 3, 2011

I have a Gateway laptop (model MT6458 ). You'll have to bear with me, I'm very inexperienced with Linux in general and especially the command line. Previously, I was running 10.04 32bit. I wanted to give 64bit a try, so I just fresh installed 10.04 AMD64. I was able to get my wireless working in the 32 bit version as seen on this thread: [URL]. After installing the 64 bit version, I attempted following the same directions as before, but it doesn't seem to be working.Here's some of what the terminal is telling me:

Code:

jeremy@jeremy-MT6458:~$ iwlist scan
lo Interface doesn't support scanning.

Ubuntu Networking :: 11.04 64bit - Getting Wireless N Mode To Work

I have a built in wireless card that is capable of connecting to my network on the Wireless N protocols. However it will only work at G speeds. It shows it's connection speed at 54mbps and when i set the network at N only mode it could not even connect. How do I get it to connect at the faster wireless speeds? I need the faster speeds as I have a media server on my network. This is the hopefully relevant information you'll need from my network

Ubuntu Networking :: Dual Boot Kubuntu / Win 7 (64bit) - Wireless Drivers?

Jan 3, 2011

I dual boot windows 7 and Kubuntu on my laptop, my wireless card works on windows 7 no problem, and luckily the company also has a linux version of the driver. My question is, how can I install packages on kubuntu without a wired internet connection, and what packages should I download to be able to install the driver on kubuntu without getting errors?

My wireless card is Realtek 8192CE.
Here is the download page for the driver, in case I missed something.
I am dual-booting Kubuntu/Windows 7 x64bit.

Fedora Networking :: Wireless Card RNX-N250PC (chip Rt3562) 64bit?

Jul 17, 2011

Just a short note on getting this card to work in Fedora 14 (and presumably Fedora 15) 64bit. First of all, none of the rpm packages which you might choose will work because none of them are for this chipset. First, one goes to the Rosewill website, finds the driver for this card as a compressed tar file. After downloading it and extracting, you will find in the parent directory a Makefile and README_STA_PRI.

The instructions in README_STA_PRI, if followed carefully, will do the job except for one thing: there is a mistake in the os/linux/config.mk file that needs to be fixed. In the $(PLATFORM),PC 2.4 branch, change -imarch=i686 to -march=core2 and more importantly, in the 2.6 branch, add -march=core2 to the EXTRA_CFLAGS and add export CFLAGS (which would otherwise not be done). In the main Makefile, as per the instructions, I set HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT=y and HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT=y so that the Network Manager can control the card.

In the instructions, wps_supplicant is not where they indicate (it is in /usr/sbin/) and the configuration file which I used was in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf, not the one in the dbus-1/system directory. The wpa_supplicant command was run before the make and before "insmod rt3562.ko", and it generated a bunch of error messages because the card had not be recognized yet. The error messages didn't seem to matter.

The card was already in the machine and when "insmod rt3562.ko" was executed, the card was instantly recognized and the network manager set it up and put it into play without any further fuss or muss.

I'm currently trying to install the Broadcom driver for my 802.11g wireless card. I have downloaded the headers and tools for ubuntu and am proceeding with the instructions given on [URL].

But when I get to these steps I come unstuck
# mkdir hybrid_wl
# cd hybrid_wl
# tar xzf <path>/hybrid-portsrc.tar

I can make the directory and open it but when it comes to the third step I get a message saying that there is no such file or directory.

Ubuntu Servers :: Get A Spare Computer Up And Running With 10.10 64bit

Nov 13, 2010

been trying to get a spare computer up and running with 10.10 server 64bit no dice so far, after hours of memchecks, disk checksums, re-burns and whatnot..install stops at 73% and does f. all.. tail log shows that it stops at updating sources, alt+f2 and ps aux shows apt-get update process running. if I kill this process, I can continue with the installation, but for this I need to repeat same process - killing all the apt instances that show up - so that it can complete the install. Unacceptable imho. computer is a AMD cpu based, athlon 2 435 on an ASUS M4A89TD PRO mainboard. ddr3 4gb crucial ram sticks. drives are functional S-ATA. No external GPU, so using IGP.

Tried installing without eth-cable plugged in, with it plugged in, with a usb install (that sorry excuse for an install was even worse, "please insert cd" midway) I know I can get the install going with desktop version.. But why would I want an xserver running on a headless computer. Kind of pissed atm, spent so many hours at this, figuring it just might be a faulty HW item. It isn't. using 10.10 desktop on my laptop and production pc - and been using 8.04 as main server, until now...

Edit: another one of them optiarc sony nec **** for brains dvd/cd-rom/writer it seems. add a check for this in future releases, with big bold letters "YOU ARE SCREWED, BUY NEW HARDWARE" printed as soon as the cd loads in these drives.. I've got better things to spend my time on than staring at a screen trying to figure out why it won't load properly

Is it possible to just install 64bit ubuntu over my 32bit existing installation? Could I preserve the customizations I've made? what about application settings like chrome, firefox, compiz, etc.? Would I have to meticulously reinstall all of the little things I've done to my ubuntu installation?

It has a "paravirtualized" option that might possibly work, but it wants a network install path, and I am not sure if this is the actual solution. When I go to create the VM I only have i686 and xen for options on the virtualized method, is there a way to add (I am presuming) amd64 in here somehow? The CPU is definitely 64-bit. My google-fu hasn't found results for me yet.

Fedora :: Running 32bit Apps On 64Bit 11?

Mar 25, 2010

I'm trying to run a library compiled in a 32bit Linux (CentOS) environment on my Fedora11 64bit image. I ran into a few issues with dependencies such as gcc, xml2, ssl plus a whole stack more that existed in /lib64 and no/lib where the binary was expecting them. After a bit of reading around, I found I needed to install the .i586 version of each of the dependencies. After adding most of them, I was left with libssl, libcrypto and libxml2. When I tried to do the following

Code:

yum install openssl.i586

I got an error stating it could not be copied due to a conflict with the i686 version. I was going to erase the i686 but it was going to remove a ton of other stuff so I created a symbolic link in /lib to point to 64bit version. Eventually, ldd had no missing dependencies so I figured I was good to go. I now get the following errors when I call my library

./SupervisionServer: /usr/lib/liblber-2.4.so.2: no version information available (required by /lib/libphp5.so)
./SupervisionServer: /usr/lib/libldap_r-2.4.so.2: no version information available (required by /lib/libphp5.so)
./SupervisionServer: error while loading shared libraries: /lib/libpalo_ng.so.0: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied

PHP is installed and working and the libpalo_ng.so.0 is in the /lib folder

CentOS 5 :: Install Hp DeskJet 6500 Printer On A Network?

Jan 13, 2011

I'm trying to install hp DeskJet 6500 printer on a network.

My Centos version is

Ofcourse My printer model is not showing up on the list of printer list when using ipp based configuration.

so while searching around, I came across article to install hplip at

[URL]

and I tried to install the following hplip version with centos.

[URL]

Running the configure with following arguments

./configure --with-hpppddir=/usr/share/ppd/HP --libdir=/usr/lib64 --prefix=/usr --enable-qt4 --enable-doc-build --enable-cups-ppd-install --disable-foomatic-drv-install --disable-foomatic-ppd-install --disable-hpijs-install --disable-policykit --disable-cups-drv-install --enable-hpcups-install --enable-network-build --enable-dbus-build --enable-scan-build --enable-fax-build

I get following error

configure: error: cannot find net-snmp support (or --disable-network-build)

But net-snmp is installed on my system, so, I tried with disable-network-build and tried to get around the problem, the next error I get is

checking for usb_init in -lusb... no
configure: error: cannot find libusb support
