View 7 RepliesI'm trying to net install Wheezy on an Abit IC7-G PIV system. I tried this months ago but the problem still exists. This is not so much an installation problem but after installation when it boots, I lose PS/2 mouse, PS/2 keyboard and network. I get:
startpar. service(s) returned failure udev ... failed I can plug USB mouse and keyboard in after this failure which then works. There is nothing wrong with the hardware. It works fine on other systems. Squeeze works perfectly.
I've bought this remote control that sais it works in Vista, XP etc. without any driver. Basically it has a bunch of buttons that replace the mouse and a bunch of others that replace basic keyboard functions (arrows, enter, escape). It has a USB IR receiver so I thought I could simply use it as a lirc remote in Ubuntu.
However, it sais absolutely nothing on it except for "PCremote" so during lirc installation I have no idea what to choose. And, interestingly, I accidentally discovered that it works in Ubuntu, too, out of the box. Controlling the mouse and acting like a keyboard. Is there a way I can forfeit current functionality and just get it to work as a customizable lirc remote? Or even better, keep current functionality but change it only for certain apps (xbmc, vlc etc)?
I had XP before, which gave me an error message and crashed. I didn't have the XP CD so I decided to give Linux an error. By what i can find, I have a somewhat unique problem. My USB drives no longer work. They light up green, so they obviously have some power and so on, but there is no response from any devices that you plug in, i.e. mouse, flash drives, etc. Nothing works.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running a 64-bit version of Ubuntu 10.04 and have the flash plug-in installed. It runs fine for the most part but if I'm watching a ..... video or playing a game on facebook and accidentally hit the right mouse button, rather than pull up a menu like it does on my netbook (running Ubuntu 10.1 32-bit), it crashes Firefox.

Herein lies my problem: the black cable output is not working. I have a 50' extension cable from the black jack to my receiver for my speakers in the living room and also wired to my deck. The jack works in Windoze but not with Ubuntu. I'm wondering if it's a configuration issue that escapes me.
I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing. When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just installed a nas on my system. All is ok apart from Kaffeine. It will play the file from the home dir, a usb disc but not for some reason the same file over the network located on a nas. It come up with the following error message:
The connection was configured as a MS Windoze network drive.via dolphin. No problems with compressed, pdf or doc files or copying etc just playing an avi with kaffeine.
I searched alot & tried installing flash plug-in but none has yet solved the problem. it's currently installed but doesn't work in opera & firefox. Moreover I tried removing it & re-intalling it with yum & rpm but the problem persists.

I recently tried to plug in a second monitor to my graphics card in an attempt to mess around with a dual monitor set up. This created a duplicate effect (which I expected at first) but downgraded my original monitor to the second monitors max resolution. Now my xorg.conf appears to be blank and I dont believe my fglrx drivers are working anymore.
When I try to start compiz from bash I get the following:
Code:
When I attempt fglrxinfo:
Code:
I'm running Kubuntu, Karmic
AMD64
ATI Radion x1350
What could have happened? All I did was plug in a second monitor and restart!
I have an asus 1215b laptop. For some reason, when I plug my mouse into any of the USB 2.0 ports it doesnt work. However, these same ports work perfectly to coppy files onto pendrives or external hdd. However, the USB 3.0 works perfectly for everything. The last thing I expected was the newer 3.0 to work and not the older 2.0. btw, my mouse is a generic, brandless laser mouse (it is an inhouse brand of PC CITY stores: PC LINE). I have never had any problems with it before.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have read no fixes anywhere, oddly. This problem happened in 9.10 and seems to be back in 10.04. The fix on Ubuntu-Geek, which was re-posted various places, does not work either. However, I do know this is not a hardware issue... or think. I have a dual-boot with Windows 7 and it is not affected by this. Also, if I install anything 9.04 or earlier, this does not happen. Oddly, my netbook had 9.10 and now 10.04 but not this issue. Sadly I feel I must try other distros as this appears to be a Ubuntu specific error.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been facing this problem since months before I decided to find an answer. I downloaded a cursor theme from gnome-look.org and then installed it by dragging the tarball to the themes window. It said theme is installed. But the effects are not visible yet. I then shoot up firefox to see the new pointer working but not outside firefox. I even noticed the new pointer theme works in nautilus for all except pointing (it works while resizing, selecting text, loading but not the regular pointing).
I searched the forums and found a similar problem: [URL]
the solution doesn't work because there is no "cursor theme" option in ccsm. i've attached a screenshot too.
Is it a bug? do i need to disable compiz to "have my own desktop"? Is there a solution?
2day morning itself i m downloaded 10.04.1 (32-bit Desktop) and when trying to install first it was stopped at timezone selection phase and no reaction Forward button disabled (at this time keyboard and mouse r worked) after words when i m trying to install again keyboard and mouse r struck. Same thing happed when i trying to install 10.04 version.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my computer was slow with Karmic Koala, so I tried upgrading my build to Lucid Lynx 10.04.
Now I can't login because neither my keyboard nor mouse (and touch-pad) work. However, I can access the command mode (terminal?) though through the grub boot menu.
how I can get my mouse (and touch-pad) and keyboard to work with Ubuntu 10.04? My machine is an Acer Aspire 4730Z. I dual boot with Windows 7, and I'd prefer not to have to clear out the partition for Linux and reinstall.
I messed up my xorg.conf and tried to put in a clean one, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure what went wrong. When X loads, the mouse cursor is not responding and my keyboard is dead too. I can't toggle to text mode either (Alt-Ctrl-F1).Hope the following files might explain what's wrong./var/log/Xorg.0.log

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm brand new to Ubuntu (or any flavor of Unix/Linux, for that matter). I installed it (9.10) into a VM in Hyper-V with aplomb. However, the mouse isn't working, so I'm getting good at using the keyboard shortcuts right off the bat.Anyhoo, I'd like to get the mouse working. I downloaded Hyper-V for Linux 1.0 (integration components), but I can't seem to get it installed. I attach to the ISO from my VM and the CD shows up in Ubuntu, but then what? I tried running the setup.pl file, but nothing seemed to happen and my mouse still isn't working.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running 9.10 (Karmic) on a Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop with Nvidia graphics. I have installed the -185 driver which has solved most problems. However every so often the system seems to lose track of the mouse button state. The first symptom of this is that all mouse movements on text are treated as if the left button is being held down: mouse movement selects text rather than just moving the graphics cursor. I am using a M$ optical mouse.
I have tried:unplugging and replugging the mouse using Ctl-Alt-F1 to go into a console and Ctl-Alt-F7 to go back to the GUI I am able to shut down all of the open windows normally using the keyboard, but the only way I have so far found to get the GUI working again is to reboot the system.
I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a dell d630 laptop and tried to connect an external ps2 keyboard and mouse using USB connectors to the laptop's USB ports. However, they are not detected by the system.

I found THIS LINK describing the exact problem I had. The first solution doesn't work because i am running 9.10 64 bit. When I tried to do the second solution this is the result:
Code:

I am using ubuntu 9.10 , but while opening eclipse and working with it, i used to face some strange problem which is my mouse does not work properly inside eclipse and these effect the other application and i used to get stuck (the keyboard will be still working) which force me sometimes to kill the whole eclipse (using keyboard)....
View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Lucid, Mouse Keys started working erratically. For example: If I keep pressed the 4 numpad the pointer doesn't move, however, when I press 5 the click happens where it should. In short, the mouse pointer doesn't reflect MK's movements.
