I can't get it to work in Ubuntu. I started in Chrome, where it simply was silent. Then I moved it to Firefox, where it said I needed a plugin to play the media, which I installed. That didn't work. I started following the instructions here, but was unable to install mozplugger.

when I start firefox, it starts to play funny tones after a few seconds (even if I don't open a website). If I deactivate the Shockwave Flash plugin it stops.

A couple of days ago mozplugger just stopped working on me, at least for pdf files. I can't open them. When I click on a pdf file, firefox seems to be loading it, but then I get back to the same page and nothing happens. The acrobat plugin works fine, but of course I wouldn't want to use it...

The installation goes normally, up until it comes time to switch from disc 1 to disc 2. However, it shows an embedded version in the tab that doesn't accept interactions and opens the version that can be interacted with in a new window. Does anyone know what may be causing this? I'm not very knowledgable with the specific commands in mozpluggerrc.
My current setup for PDF files is as follows:
My sister's using Ubuntu 10.0.4 (I'm her tech support.) and for the past several days has been unable to get sound to work on her desktop. She first noticed it on ..... videos, but we've tried other things and all sound is gone. She just let me know that the autoaudiosink element is missing. Alas, that's all I have from her email, or I'd give more details. What's the best way to get it back and maybe get her sound working again?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running squeeze on a PC 1386 and installed nvidia by using the packages in unstable. I was able to install nvidia and there was no error until the time I started X. The error is unable to load module "nvidia" (module does not exist, 0).
I looked up the log for Xorg and it says Unloadable Module "nvidia".
I spent the entire 24 hours to fix it because this is my office computer and I practically done all the stuff found in the forums. I already did nvidia-xconfig to no avail. I even edited xorg.conf manually and still it was not up.
I have some suspects however which are:
1. Different versions between kernel and nvidia (but since I did it the debian way then I should not have any problems).
2. Nvidia-glx is unusable in Squeeze, so does it mean I go for the unstable distro?
3. Or I miss something crucial on how I installed it?
By the way, I installed Nvidia because I am using a SAMSUNG 21' LED monitor.

I enabled RPM fusion free and non-free.
I have Fedora 11 installed on a system that initially had an ATI 1650 type card. I recently replaced it with a GeForce GT 220. I don't believe there was ever an xorg.conf generated or used with the ATI card. Initially, when I replaced cards and rebooted, I was able to start up KDE or GNOME but with only 2 very low resolutions available(the highest being 800x600). Next I ran Xorg -configure to generate an xorg.conf file. Everything I am seeing in this file seems to make sense. But now, when I startx all I get is a red error box being displayed by the CRT monitor with this message:
Signal Frequency is out of range
FH 30.1 kHz FV 24 Hz
Please Change Signal Timing
The only way I can get my X system back is to go into the xorg.conf file (in the Device Section) and change the driver to vesa. But I still only have 2 very low resolutions available.

The problem started however when I installed Skype which uses pulseaudio. As soon as I start skype (or any other application that uses pulse, HoN for example) the applications sound output or input does not work at all. If I have pulseaudio started in some way, applications that I suppose do not use it like spotify or flash player stops to produce sounds. And when I type "pulseaudio" in the terminal it gives me this:

I can't get flash controls to work. If the video auto-plays, it starts just fine, if not, I'm out of luck. I've tried reinstalling flash through the software center. Even if it autoplays, I can't control volume or pause or anything. I'm at the mercy of whatever is already there.

The iso I burned to CD is good (works on 2 other computers). His computer will not boot from USB, no matter what I do to the drive order in BIOS. After loading the blue screen with the Kubuntu logo on it (and the blue-white dots), the screen changes to black and shows the following text:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up an unused machine as a web server for my students.
I originaly tried with Redhat 9 and had the same problems. I am using an HP Pentium 4 system with 2 network cards.
1) The built in Realtek RTL8139 configured as eth0.
2) An add in Broadcom BCM5782 Gigabit card that was added I presume when the built in card failed (we have a number of machines like this around the school), configured as eth1.
I did not realize the second card was installed when I had Red hat 9 on the system, but I discovered it after installing centos 5.5. I have tried to configure the system to use DHCP with and without getting the DNS from the provider, and both ways the system complains that there is no connection, check the cable, so it will not activate the device.
When I configure the device to use a fixed IP, I can configure the device, but I can't ping anything on the network other than myself. I suppose it is possible that both network cards have failed, but I get green link lights with both cards, when I connect them to my router, so I am at a loss as to why neither board seems to work. I don't have a spare network card to slide in because the computer takes a special mini card. Is there an easy way to test the board to see if the board is a problem?
I couldn't connect my Micromax 300G modem in Debian Linux. From internet (in Windows Vista), I came across the information of USB_ModeSwitch and then I downloaded it. While going to install it, I came across the problem that TCL-interpreter is not available in Debian Linux. Then again I restarted my laptop in Windows Vista and connected my Micromax modem and from internet downloaded TCL8.5.10-src.tar.gz. But while going to install it, I came across the problem that " configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH " . Also as presently, I am unable to connect my modem therefore I am unable to issue the code:" apt-get update ".
