View 3 RepliesI recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Play with Kaffeine results in it opening, but then nothing happens. When I do the same thing with the CD in the bottom drive, it plays the first track of the CD but nothing else. Every time. Just did a fresh install of Karmic, got all necessary decoders installed for video and audio playback...I think.
Problem is I can't forward/search in audio files I am playing. I mean I can only Play, Pause, Stop or "Next-track" a music file. Video files are fine.
I've tried Exaile, Rythmbox and even Totem. It is like the audio files are "half read-only".
If I drag a horizontal scroller in the music player and let it go, it will only jump back to the position where it is actually playing.
Has anyone experienced, this? I am a missing something in gstreamer or something like it?

Applied the Lucid Lynx 10.04 over the weekend.
Since then - I am unable to burn DVDs, although I can successfully read DVD's.
Everything worked fine before the upgrade.
Under Lucid Lynx I am able to burn CD's (both data files and .ISO) so it isn't the hardware.
I have tried Brasero and k3b as burners - they issue messages that the burner doesn't like the medium, which is standard DVD-R.
Bear in mind that I could burn similar DVDs *before* the upgrade...
Any help or suggestions on how to fix this please?
I have recently adquired a Dell Inspiron laptop with Intel Core 2 processor and Windows 7 Home Basic Edition (64 bits) installed. Since I need for working linux I have performed a reduction of the main partition of Windows leaving free a 20 GB of hard drive. With an Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop version (64 bits) I have installed then Ubuntu linux in the empty space mentioned now then having a dual boot laptop (I have done this before with other computers, I knew how to do it so to make it work). All went well and both OS works fine. I have installed a lot of packs without any problem, when I installed thunderbird pack I notice that its version is 2.0. I didn`t think that was a problem until I wanted to install some addons and thunderbird complaints that those addons only work with versions superior to 3.0. " Ok" I said to myself, and looked here code...

I have a very big problem here. First a little background information. I tried searching this forum but didn't find anyone with similar situation.
I have installed Ubuntu and it's variations many, many times on different computers, and once in my current desktop PC. Right now I am in a situation where I want to install Ubuntu 10.04.01 (or any version, really) but I cannot.
I have tried to install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, I have tried Ubuntu 10.04.1 and 10.10, I have tried to install with Wubi (currently running Windows 7 64bit), I have tried to burn the images to CD and created an USB installer, nothing works, it's always the same. Installer starts, I put in "Install Ubuntu", and the screen goes blank. Nothing but a white little cursor blinking in upper left corner of screen. And I cannot type in anything.
Previously I had Ubuntu 10.04 installed with Wubi, and it worked. Right now, nothing works. Anything helpful appreciated. I can provide some system info if needed.
Ok so recently a friend recommended I try Ubuntu. So I downloaded and ripped 11.04. Reset PC went to install and got to about 95% then got an error that said "Unable to Install GRUB in /dev/sda" then downloaded 10.04 LTS and got same issue along with 10.01 (friends disc) and same issue. I have tried both 64 and 32bit, have tried iso and usb. I was able to install it on an older machine of mine and enjoying it. But I really want it on my main machine. Here are the specs of my main.
MOBO = X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard code...
Number 8 and 9 are the issue and choices after words. I am unable to select any choice on step nine. when i hit OK it wont do anything.
I hope this is all enough info and would love any help that is given. My friend who is an Ubuntu user is throwing his hands in the air at this point lol.
While doing research I found a few ppl with similar issues. And one person said when he made his own /root and /home partitions it worked. I get similar issue even if I take those steps.
Ive collected as much info for you guys as I can think of if you need more info plz let me know.

I will say this now; I am still in high school, so forgive my stupidity. I am trying to install either 10.10 or 10.04 on a Dell 1525. It has no operating system on it, and the CD/DVD drive is nonexistent. I have tried to install 10.10 on it using a USB, with both UNetbootin and Pen Drive Linux. Using either one, both end up freezing at the "Preparing to Install" screen. When trying to install 10.04, it will not load, even after 24 hours. On the loading screen, I pressed F1 to view the terminal and got this output:
(process:352): GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0)

I've just switched successfully from ubuntu to fedora today. Basically I am really happy with fedora, most problems I had I could solve (with the help of the Internet). However 2 major problem remain:
) I am unable to run .jar files. I've already installed the "Java" package from the repo, but it didn't help. When typing code...
worked without problems, however a quick test (.....) told me that flash isn't working. When I try downloading and installing flash manually from the adobe site I get a message that this package is already installed.
I'm trying to make my iMac "Triple Boot".

The installation was successful, but encountered problem at the 1st reboot after installation.
The Grub loaded without problem. but then, "The Entire Screen Went Black".
So is it because the graphic card(iMac with ATI) is not supported? Or because of other reasons.
I have an MSI-RC410 motherboard with onboard ATI Radeon XPress 200 series Graphics card.
I have used OpenSuse-11.0 on my PC for over an year. but when I tried to upgrade to OpenSuse-11.1, I managed to install it only to find that several features were missing. for example /dev/cdrom was missing.
Also install DVD of Fedora 11 did not work.
I have also tried Ubuntu-9.10 live cd. When I boot from the CD i get the initramfs command prompt. Still able to install old versions of these OSs.
What is the reason for this behavior?
Does it have to do anything with the new version of the linux kernel not being compatible with my hardware?
What should i do to install new versions of Linux?

The installation goes normally, up until it comes time to switch from disc 1 to disc 2. The installer prompts me to insert disc 2, but it seems that Ubuntu still believes that the installer doesn't want me to open the drive, because, when I try to open it, it doesn't open, and a window pops up with the following message: Unable to eject CD-RW/DVD RW Drive DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending

Maybe I'm getting the "Couldn't find package vlc-nox" because I've not enabled the 'universe' component. How do I do that via the command line? VLC's website discusses an alternative way to install VLC:
