Can't mount external usb drives. There are no errors, they just don't show up anywhere.
Also Trash icon has disappeared from bottom panel, is inaccessible from Nautilus - "Sorry, could not display all the contents of "trash": Operation not supported" - and Desktop icons default to 'Keep Aligned' every time I restart.
etc/fstab with a flash drive and an external HDD plugged in code...

Aug 24, 2011My 11.04 installation is running beautifully in VM on ESXi. I'm trying to add storage so I added the disks, assigned them in vmware to the vm, then tried to mount them when I received the error code...
my setup:
HP Microserver, booting vmware from USB drive. Hardware RAID card (Adaptec RAID 2405), 2 x 250GB HDD in RAID1 (datastore1) with VM's, 2 x 2TB HDD in RAID1 (datastore2) - the storage I'm trying to add.
A search of the above errors yielded many results, all of them were different scenarios to mine.

Feb 10, 2010I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect.Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Aug 6, 2011Just bought this monitor and it doesnt have widescreen support like my old Dell one but the crystal display in it is leaking across the screen. Maybe its just too new or something. I have little experience in configuring Xorg.conf although I'm pretty adept in other areas of Linux. Running ubuntu 11.04 gnome not unity or gnome-shell. The resolution is 1920x1080 (16:9), 60 Hz. with the default recommended nvidia driver. Maybe ran into the same situation or knows how to configure X.

Play with Kaffeine results in it opening, but then nothing happens. When I do the same thing with the CD in the bottom drive, it plays the first track of the CD but nothing else. Every time. With different CDs.

Jan 4, 2010Just did a fresh install of Karmic, got all necessary decoders installed for video and audio playback...I think.
Problem is I can't forward/search in audio files I am playing. I mean I can only Play, Pause, Stop or "Next-track" a music file. Video files are fine.
I've tried Exaile, Rythmbox and even Totem. It is like the audio files are "half read-only".
If I drag a horizontal scroller in the music player and let it go, it will only jump back to the position where it is actually playing.
Has anyone experienced, this? I am a missing something in gstreamer or something like it?
Ubuntu Multimedia :: Lucid System Upgrade : Now Unable To Burn DVDs / Enable It?
May 3, 2010Applied the Lucid Lynx 10.04 over the weekend.
Since then - I am unable to burn DVDs, although I can successfully read DVD's.
Everything worked fine before the upgrade.
Under Lucid Lynx I am able to burn CD's (both data files and .ISO) so it isn't the hardware.
I have tried Brasero and k3b as burners - they issue messages that the burner doesn't like the medium, which is standard DVD-R.
Bear in mind that I could burn similar DVDs *before* the upgrade...
Any help or suggestions on how to fix this please?

I've searched the forums, and tried a lot of different things, and nothing has fixed this problem.

Jul 26, 2010I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 running Ubuntu v10.04 with a wireless card.My desktop is a Dell Optiflex running WinXP.The desktop is connected via ethernet cable to a Linksys wireless router. Certain folders on the desktop are set for sharing. Up until early last week I was able to access the desktop folders from the laptop with no issues.Suddenly I am now getting this error "Unable to mount location Failed to mount Windows share" whenever I try to access the desktop folders from the laptop.I suspect an upgrade is the culprit, but not sure.

Aug 5, 2010I have 2 internal drives. One is for the OS and one is for the Data. I tried to get the Data drive to mount automatically at login using some crap I found on a linux blog. Safe to say it didn't work and now I can't mount it with the OS on the OS Drive.
It mounts from a live CD and all the data is perfectly safe. When I try to mount the drive I get this error message: "Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with: mount: only root can mount /dev/sdb1 on /media/data" What have I done wrong and how can I make it mount again? Preferably this time at login.

May 25, 2010I have been trying to share folders from my main PC which is running Ubuntu 10.04. I have been able to figure out Samba enough to get my a couple of folders shared, but I have been unable to share any folders which are on my external harddrive. After entering the path in my smb.conf file they appear on the network but I am unable to navigate to them. When trying to navigate to them through the network folder on the pc they are actually connected to I get an "Unable to mount location: Failed to mount windows share" dialog box. On the windows pc I am trying to share with I get, "Windows cannot acces \Josh-Desktop

I do not have DNS installed. I cannot install a stand alone DNS server on the network which the render farm will run. I cannot point any of the machines in the render farm to the current DNS server. fuppes is a DLNA server and it is listed in the documentation of my Philips TV. I read the wiki on Main Page - FUPPES and as far as I understood followed the manual. However on the server I see the database filled with files, I see the TV listed amoung the devices, however the TV does not connect to the server.
