I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 and I would use my tv as desktop, in wireless connection with my notebook. The problem is that on the page url I haven't found the software for Linux.

I have been trying to figure out how to get rid of it, but can't seem to. I took the program off of autostart apps, and have checked running processes to see if I could find which program has it going but I have exhausted my limited knowledge base in solving this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Pure Evoke Flow radio that connect to my wireless router for streaming internet radio, this works fine. It also has the functionality to connect to a hard drive over wifi and play any MP3 files on it and it runs on Linux.
With Windows (sorry) I just click on the folder and make it Shareable, on the Radio I then set it to search for servers and it finds my wife's PC and plays her music.
I have (I believe) set my music directory on Ubuntu 9.10 to be shareable, it downloaded and installed a couple of files including samba and then rebooted. However my Radio cannot see it.
I'm trying to setup PS3 media server on my new OpenSuse 11.2 and I'm being unable to connect to the PS3. The multimedia server seems to being working ok, only it has not appear on XMB.
I've been searching on PS3 Media Server forums and try a couple of solutions regarding /etc/hosts and adding full qualified domain name of server to it, but it doesn't seems to work.

Just bought this monitor and it doesnt have widescreen support like my old Dell one but the crystal display in it is leaking across the screen. Maybe its just too new or something. I have little experience in configuring Xorg.conf although I'm pretty adept in other areas of Linux. Running ubuntu 11.04 gnome not unity or gnome-shell. The resolution is 1920x1080 (16:9), 60 Hz. with the default recommended nvidia driver. Maybe ran into the same situation or knows how to configure X.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Ubuntu Karmic. For the past 6 months I could pick up the WiFi spot in our house, until last weekend when it just disappeared from my network manager. Everyone else in my house can see the WiFi and connect, even the Karmic users - only me has nothing! I can see our neighbors' WiFi though - I could always see it, so I don't think the problem is with my hardware.
I tried to reinstall the connection via network manager - did not work. I reinstalled Karmic - no effect. I tried Lucid - nothing!! It just disappeared! I had connection 3 days ago, but now I don't know what to do.
I am using ubuntu 8.04. I played an mp3 in totem & meanwhile moved that file to another location. Still I can move slider in totem to rewind or forward the song. Only after the song has been played completely I get message 'location not found'. Does that mean totem copies song into RAM so that it does not have to trouble hard disk for access during entire duration ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed 10.10 on a Dell Inspiron 1300. The wired connection(eth0) works fine but I get no wireless signal when I unplug and try to connect to my network/internet. It shows that wlan0 does exist but it gets no signal. I've used the rfkill to make sure that it wasn't blocked and everything seems to be ok, except I get no wireless signal.
I uninstalled Network Manager and installed Wcid and it found nothing. I even tried installing several signal scanners I found in the package manager. I've removed, updated and reinstalled the broadcom drivers. I still get nothing. The wireless signal from my router is nonexistent according to Ubuntu.
The wireless works fine when I put my windows XP HD in and it also works fine when I put my Mepix or PCLinux OS HDs in the laptop. So I know that the wireless card is not busted.
it reminds me a lot of my good old days on the Unix mainframes...... I have a little problem everything works great except for my Philips GearGo MP3, when I plug it in it is not recognized on the system, my camera works, mys USB hard drive and Palm all work ok.

fuppes is a DLNA server and it is listed in the documentation of my Philips TV. I read the wiki on Main Page - FUPPES and as far as I understood followed the manual. However on the server I see the database filled with files, I see the TV listed amoung the devices, however the TV does not connect to the server.
I decided to switch from Ubuntu to Fedora Core 10 KDEdual boot installation worked perfectly... all smooth!untill i got to installing things....i wanted to install ndiswrapper, so i manually downloaded it on my second pc and transferred it trought a USB stick to the Fedora PC. When reading the 'installation manual' it clearly uses the "make" command a lot...problem is; bash error: "bash: make: command not found"So i google this and i get some solutions, all involving online repositories...so basically... i need internet to get the MAKE rpm, and i need the MAKE rpm to get the internet working... :')I tried searching online repositories but i haven't got a clue about what i need to download from there (to get the make command, or the "Development Tools") and how to install it on my fedora pc....i need help :P It would be much appreciated if someone could explain me how i could get these important packages up and running on my system with manual downloading and installing.I haven't got a clue how to do this manually... I've been on it for hours allready and I'm getting a bit fed up with it I can't understand why such an important package isn't standard included in the installation.

I am having a problem with the driver, I do lspci | grep -i net and this is my driver: Broadcom Corporation BCM4321 802.11a/b/g/n...I have tried this: URL.. (I have debian squeeze) and it created a eth1 interface.I do ip link set eth1 up and after that I do : iwlist scan and it works, but when for example I try iw dev eth1 scan it doesn't work it says nl80211 not found.And when I try to run hostapd (which is my final goal) it also says nl80211 not found.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an NTFS volume on my system which I regularly access from within Ubuntu 9.10, mostly to play the plethora of DVD images (*.iso files) stored there. I use VLC Media Player to watch the content. For some reason, VLC's file browser only shows a small subset of the files by default. I have to select "All Files" instead of "Media Files" to see all the *.iso's.
What's this about? Since they're all the same type of file, I don't understand why some would be viewed as "media files" but others not. If the files were on a Linux-type filesystem (ext3 etc.) I would guess it had something to do with permissions, but I'm not sure how file ownership & permissions apply to a mounted NTFS volume.
