Ubuntu Multimedia :: Brasero,Creating And Burning Dvd's, Not Working?
May 17, 2010
I have tried to burn dvd's using Brasero, after making the dvd etc I choose to burn as a video, but it gets to around 95% of converting the file to MPEG2 or 4 (Tried both) and just sits there doing nothing!I even left it over night to see if that helped but no joy.
Today i tried to burn a dvd but i failed. When i was adding the folders, brasero poped up a message saying that it need to rename some files to make them windows compatible,i accepted the change and proceed. Everything was looking good, but qhen it tried to burn, brasero said it cannot burn the image and failed. Asked if i want to save the log file and i did it, but it has no info!
I tried diferent combinations to burn the dvd (removing the files that need to be renamed, even i tried to burn the files to a iso image) and alwas fail exactly with te same error in the same step.I instaled the gstreamer packages from packman and all looks good.Any idea whats going on? Also, if someone has the same problem, maybe it's a bug in brasero that needs to be reported: if so, how can i get usefull info to report it?
I was trying to burn a dvd to an image file today, and the first one worked no problem, I tried to burn another and I keep getting this error: Data could not be written (Input/output error) Here's my log:
I've encountered a problem when trying to burn a video file to DVD using Brasero Disc Burner. I put the DVD and then open up Brasero and click on "video protect" then I chose the video file I want to burn, I click the "burn" button and choose the settings I want then when press the "burn" button once more. I then get this screen... It then ejects the DVD and I get this...
I am attempting to backup DVDs that I own to .iso format so that I'm able to watch them using xbox media center. I've simply been copying the entire DVD to my HD in .iso using brasero. When I watch the .iso file in XBMC, the audio is a fraction of a second ahead of the video. The gap between the audio and video doesn't seem to change over the duration of the clip.
What are the likely causes of this issue? I've read that it could be a slow processor, little ram, or inadequate video card. If it's indeed a hardware issue, I suppose I'm SOL with my current laptop: a 2006 dell with a core 2 duo processor, 2GB ram, and a middle of the road video card at that time.Is there any software tweak I can explore to get the .iso file to sync properly? Also, I know it's customary for posters to list their system specifications, but I don't know how to call up my software or hardware setups.
I have tried burning media files as data into a DVD (-R). Failed every time. It simulates the burn, and when it starts burning it sometimes ejects the media and at other times just says that it cannot eject the DVD and that it has to be done manually. After the DVD is ejected it errors out.Attaching the log file.
I want to burn an iso file to my DVD-r, i use brasero and yesterday have upgraded to 10.10 NBR (UBUNTU RULES- I HAVE HAD IT FOR 2 YRS!) when i click on the 'burn image' tab on the brasero menu all is well but then when i click the properties and click on 2.0x speed (my friends drive can't read anything set any higher than 2.0x) it does not save that property and it goes and burns at much higher speeds like 3.4X. p.s does anyone know how to get rid of the deleted items icon on the 10.10 NBR menu
I see there are a lot of other threads on this subject, but I don't find any solution in the other threads. I have been trying to burn cd's directly in Ubuntu, using Brasero, which was already installed. Why does it not work? It says that an "unknown error occurred" or something like that. I don't remember the exact error message right now. I am now burning cd's in "Gnomebaker" which I found in the applications list. This works fine, but only at the speed of 4x, no faster. I hope to get the brasero application to work, as this is the easiest, fastest way, just dragging files to the cd.
I'm having trouble burning a DVD via command line or Brasero. The DVD Burner is the only IDE Device in the system. Although Disk Utility seems to display it as SCISI. Originally Ubuntu would only see the drive but do nothing when a DVD is inserted it. atleast recognizes the DVD now.

I'm trying to burn an ISO file with Brasero. It always fails when finalizing. The ISO checksum is ok. The same ISO file is successfully burned in WinXP with CDBurnerXP on the same hardware. So the problem is neither the ISO file nor the hardware. What is wrong with my setup?
I am trying to burn a few video files to dvd using brasero, but after the burning process is about half the way through it simply disappears with no error at all. Only the terminal says
++ WARN: [brasero] Discarding incomplete final frame LPCM stream 0 ++ WARN: [brasero] Discarding incomplete final frame LPCM stream 0 **ERROR: [brasero] Horizontal size is greater than permitted in specified Level.
I was trying to make a copy of a DVD recently. I started with Brasero, and when that didn't work, I installed k3b. Both came back w/similar symptoms. Neither burned the DVD and seemed to hang up. When either program stopped/hung, I checked on the file that was being captured from the original DVD and discovered that both programs produced a max file of 1.5 GB (source was 6+ GB). I checked the size of the partition where the file was being temporarilty stored and there is 18 GB of space.
I'm having trouble burning a data disk. When I burn it ejects the DVD, then saves a log. Here's the last few lines of its contents:
BraseroGenisoimage stderr: /usr/bin/genisoimage: Warning: Directory loop (/home/robert/Desktop/Mount_Directory/var/at/spool dev: 700 ino: 13323). Quite a bit of stuff. You can download its full contents. I have no idea what this means and I really would like to make this disk.
I'm trying to burn an audio CD with Brasero. Every time I try this, it fails, but it works when writing to an image file. Brasero quits with the following messages in log:
Code: Checking session consistency (brasero_burn_check_session_consistency brasero-burn.c:1744) Unsupported type of task operation Session error : An internal error occurred (brasero_burn_record brasero-burn.c:2862) Do you know what could be causing this?
Does anyone experience burning problem with Brasero? At first, everything was great, but lately I receive all kind of messages (mounting problem, ejecting problem etc.) and burning is unsuccessful.
I want to have brasero or k3b do a data check after burning a backup cd. I know that in Nero for Windows you just click on the box that says "verify after burning". For brasero I see that you need an md5 file but it will be to tedious to use an md5 utility to make a checksum for every file and then put in in a txt.
This is my first time creating a video DVD from other video files. I drag and dropped 2 .flv files to the area where it tells you to drag them. They appeared there. Then I clicked "Burn..." and brasero disappeared.
i cant seem to load mp3s into the stock burning program - "Brasero". i get this error message when i drop an mp3 into the program: "xxx.mp3" is not suitable for audio or video media.
So my goal here is to burn a Fedora13 install DVD. simple, right?I started by inserting the DVD in my drive. Checking the properties, I could see that there were 0 bytes used and 0 bytes free. Total capacity was also 0 bytes. I am not sure if this is a problem.I figured all was well. The error log was too large to upload to the forum (2.5MB) so I included only included the last parts of the log file.My guess is:
1.) I have a bad batch of SONY DVD-R's 2.) There is a Linux driver issue with the burner on my PC (Dell XPS 720) 3.) Somehow there is an issue with the .iso file.
running lucid and whatever updates are current.Im attempting to burn a avi to dvd format with brasero, but when i hit "burn" brasero sais "ejecting disc" and says that an internal error has occurred. the saved log is blank.any thoughts? i have dvd author and the error message doesnt appear until the disc has ejected. but really it should not be ejecting if it is going to perform a burn.
I was burning a disc with K3b and it was from an ISO; Burn and verify. Everything went successful, but when I put in my 2nd DVD to burn, K3b doesn't recognize it. On top of that when I right click on the icon of a Blank DVD on my desktop, it doesn't have the Eject Volume option there anymore. Does anybody know what could be going on here? why would my Fedora (11) stop burning and ejecting discs all of a sudden?
also, I tried this with multiple DVDs/drives to see if they were bad DVDs/drives and it's all the same result. Also, since I didn't have the eject option on my desktop I had to eject it with K3b from within the program. There's still a problem though.
edit: Some reason K3b is recognising discs again and is burning again. I guess the restart did it and I don't know why it was acting funny.
No problems with CD-RW, but DVD+RW are being blanked in an incorrect way. Ubuntu cannot recognize them at all after the blanking. I have to take the disks to another computer having Windows installed to blank them via Nero, and after that I they become OK for burning in Ubuntu via Brasero. I've got an old LG CD/DVD drive which was working fine in Windows. Who can recommend another program for CD/DVD burning for Ubuntu 10.04? (correctly blanking, certainly) I have installed the suggested updates for Brasero but of no avail.
I have earlier downloaded many video and picture files to blank DVD's using Brasero with ubuntu. But now most attempts fail. This might be after upgrading to latest ubuntu, but then again maybe this is not the cause, 'cos maybe once in 6 attempts brasero works ok.
It seems to take a long time - maybe 40 mins - for brasero to go through it's job, and the dvds look ok, but cannot read anything. This is a lot longer than when things worked well.
I am burning an ISO of Ubuntu 9.10 amd 64 desktop edition. I am using the same operating system but need to burn the ISO to do a clean install.
My Specs: Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) AMD Turion(tm) II Ultra Dual-Core Mobile L2 Cache 1024 4 GIG Ram Cd-drive: Hp DVDRAM GT20L

I created a few 'images' with Brasero a few days ago to burn at a future point in time, today. The first thing I noticed while copying the 'images' is that there were two files, one sans extension and one .toc, not the single .iso I'm used to dealing with.Unfortunately I did not have internet access while copying so I was unable to obtain clarification or how to proceed. So now I have around 50 of these pairs I would like nvert to music CDs.After much Googling I have yet to obtain any relevant info on how to proceed.
Great. Now, will I be filling up my hard drive every time I do this? Where does Brasero keep the images that it makes of DVD's and CD's when it copies?
I would like to delete them, after I copy an image...
I'm running Lucid RC with all updates and Brasero 2.30.0. I can't do a disk copy with this program. It gives me an error that not all libraries are installed. It first gave an error that cdda2wav was not installed but that is not true and now I get this general error. I'm installing K3B as we speak but I prefer to keep a straight Gnome installation.
