I'm running Lucid RC with all updates and Brasero 2.30.0. I can't do a disk copy with this program. It gives me an error that not all libraries are installed. It first gave an error that cdda2wav was not installed but that is not true and now I get this general error. I'm installing K3B as we speak but I prefer to keep a straight Gnome installation.

I was trying to burn a .wav file to CD but Brasero ejects the media without burning anything after transcoding the wav file and creating an image. I'm attaching the error log to aid in debugging.I can burn data CDs fine. My burner, a Samsung SM-308B, can't burn DVDs so I don't know about burning them.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the x86 server version for Lucid twice today. Both times before burn the md5 match those published on the Ubuntu site. I am attempting to install the system on a Dell poweredge 2500. 2x 1.4 gb P4 procs, 1 gb ram, 750 GB HDD (raid) Boot to installer. it goes through the standard language checks, keyboard, checks for cdrom, then attempts to start copying files.
It gets to 17% copy on fs-core-modules-2.6.32.21-generic-di and hangs there for 5 minutes or so. Then comes back with the error that it could not get the file and asks if I want to retry. all retries lead back to this error. As I said, MD5 is exact, burner does not complain of a bad burn, and disk is closed at the end of the burn. so, has anyone else been able to install Lucid server x86? burned four disks today, one pair on two different burners. All fail at 17% retrieving that file.
I've previously been able to copy CDs using Brasero. Now when I try, the program will copy the disk, but instead of pausing to allow you to insert the destination disk, it will simply eject the disk and then quit. I can copy disks by selecting 'copy to image' and then burning the image, but this is a pain.

I've successfully ripped many of the DVDs to ISO with Brasero, but am now wondering if it'd be possible to burn these back to other discs if I bought them in the future. In other words, does Brasero leave copy protection in place and just bypass it when ripping to ISO, or does Brasero remove copy protection all together leaving me with an decrypted ISO?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was trying to make a copy of a DVD recently. I started with Brasero, and when that didn't work, I installed k3b. Both came back w/similar symptoms. Neither burned the DVD and seemed to hang up. When either program stopped/hung, I checked on the file that was being captured from the original DVD and discovered that both programs produced a max file of 1.5 GB (source was 6+ GB). I checked the size of the partition where the file was being temporarilty stored and there is 18 GB of space.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I popped in a blank CD, opened up brasero, told it to create a new video project, added my files.... It told me to install vcdimager, so I did that and restarted brasero. I then told it to burn the video files to the disk as an (S)VCD. It began converting the files before the burn. After the conversion was complete, it gave the message "ejecting medium" and then it ejected the disk. After that, it said it encountered and error and wouldn't do anything from there. I tried a different CD, I tried just closing the disk drive. It just gives me the same error.

The problem is that whenever I use Brasero to burn any CD/DVD, it burns it but refuses to eject, although I always select the option to eject disk after burning. Instead, it displays a message saying something like "Please eject the disk manually to finish the burning process".

I'm using Ubuntu 9.1 to try to make a disk image of my Windows operating system that I'd like to save to an external hard drive. Currently, I'm just running Ubuntu off the cd. Having checked the "Ubuntu Software Centre" on my computer, I notice that it has Brasero installed, and I was wondering:
1) First off, where can I find it? (Is there a search function in Ubuntu like Windows?)
2) Is Brasero a good choice to create a disk image?
I have a 160GB harddrive which I installed a F12, would like to upgrade to a bigger drive, but I hate to have to re-install everything.
Recommend a good disk copy utility? The utility should be able to not only copy files, but boot sector and everything. So I just need to make a copy, change my BIOS to boot from the new drive and run everything as before.
I download the live 64 and burned it to a disk after it burns to the disk Brasero checks and says "error some files could be corrupted." I burn it slowest burn same thing happen. I downloaded thinking I had a corrupted download. Same thing happen. I never had a problem burning iso until now. What am I doing wrong?

View 1 Replies View RelatedS.M.A.R.T.tells me my primary fedora drive has lots of bad blocks,so I ordered a used identical drive from ebay.I want to do the very basic process of making a full backup of my existing drive - so as to replace it with a more or less identical replacement. Logically identical - not necewsarily sector to sector identical.im not literate in unix and its children - and seem to find a plethora of descriptinos of how to do what I want to do. which is
1. format the drive - what you may call low level format - ie op sys independent.
2. create a partition system compatible with my existing disk.
3. copy everything from my existing disk to the new disk.
4. put existing disk on the shelf as a backup and start to use new disk.
running lucid and whatever updates are current.Im attempting to burn a avi to dvd format with brasero, but when i hit "burn" brasero sais "ejecting disc" and says that an internal error has occurred. the saved log is blank.any thoughts? i have dvd author and the error message doesnt appear until the disc has ejected. but really it should not be ejecting if it is going to perform a burn.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNo problems with CD-RW, but DVD+RW are being blanked in an incorrect way. Ubuntu cannot recognize them at all after the blanking. I have to take the disks to another computer having Windows installed to blank them via Nero, and after that I they become OK for burning in Ubuntu via Brasero. I've got an old LG CD/DVD drive which was working fine in Windows. Who can recommend another program for CD/DVD burning for Ubuntu 10.04? (correctly blanking, certainly) I have installed the suggested updates for Brasero but of no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have earlier downloaded many video and picture files to blank DVD's using Brasero with ubuntu. But now most attempts fail. This might be after upgrading to latest ubuntu, but then again maybe this is not the cause, 'cos maybe once in 6 attempts brasero works ok.
It seems to take a long time - maybe 40 mins - for brasero to go through it's job, and the dvds look ok, but cannot read anything. This is a lot longer than when things worked well.

I created a few 'images' with Brasero a few days ago to burn at a future point in time, today. The first thing I noticed while copying the 'images' is that there were two files, one sans extension and one .toc, not the single .iso I'm used to dealing with.Unfortunately I did not have internet access while copying so I was unable to obtain clarification or how to proceed. So now I have around 50 of these pairs I would like nvert to music CDs.After much Googling I have yet to obtain any relevant info on how to proceed.

I have tried to burn dvd's using Brasero, after making the dvd etc I choose to burn as a video, but it gets to around 95% of converting the file to MPEG2 or 4 (Tried both) and just sits there doing nothing!I even left it over night to see if that helped but no joy.

When I start creating the Video DVD project, I drag my 2GB of files into the project window, Brasero recognizes the blank DVD as having 4GB, but then reports there is insufficient space to burn the selected files and do I want to use multiple discs. Running Ubuntu 10.04, and have accepted all automatic updates as they come out.

Today i tried to burn a dvd but i failed. When i was adding the folders, brasero poped up a message saying that it need to rename some files to make them windows compatible,i accepted the change and proceed. Everything was looking good, but qhen it tried to burn, brasero said it cannot burn the image and failed. Asked if i want to save the log file and i did it, but it has no info!
I tried diferent combinations to burn the dvd (removing the files that need to be renamed, even i tried to burn the files to a iso image) and alwas fail exactly with te same error in the same step.I instaled the gstreamer packages from packman and all looks good.Any idea whats going on? Also, if someone has the same problem, maybe it's a bug in brasero that needs to be reported: if so, how can i get usefull info to report it?
I tried the above using an existing multisession CD where data files were previously burned in a different pc using K3b. However, when the burning was completed successfully, the CD could not be read at all. I repeated the process with a blank CD choosing to leave it open in order to add more data later. All went well and the CD was readable but when I tried to add data to the same CD I got the message

I opted not to continue despite the temptation to see how invisible files can be read.
To sum it up, I find this turn of events absolutely appalling given that Brasero is the default software for CD burning in my system (Xubuntu 9.10). Can anyone tell me how to resolve this glaring shortcoming of Brasero so as to keep all my data files easily accessible in multisession CDs?
This happens every time I try to burn an audio CD burning data CD seems to work fine.I open Brasero, click Audio project, drag a couple of FLAC files into it and try to burn, or in this particular case, create an image.A dialogue pops up where I am supposed to tell it where to put the image. I click Desktop but I don't change the file name (something like brasero.cue or whatever).Then it starts doing things but after a short while I get an error message and I am asked to save the log file, which I did and here it is:
