I just burned a copy of a DVD.
Great. Now, will I be filling up my hard drive every time I do this? Where does Brasero keep the images that it makes of DVD's and CD's when it copies?
I would like to delete them, after I copy an image...

I added a song to my basket and when I click Checkout....it just stays on this message "Connecting you to the Ubuntu One Music Store..." and does nothing.
How can I fix this so I can buy music?
i have spent the last three-ish days converting a file to avi (took so long because of audio problems) and have it perfect. i need to copy it to another computer that has micro$oft windows on it, and when i access the flash drive it doesnt recognize the file as video. and i cant copy to the local hdd. im probably missing something obvious, but i searched and got nothing. i used avidemux (2.5 i think) to convert it. it plays alright on ubuntu, and it is ok on the flash drive, but when windows sees it, it isnt recognized as video.

After sometime Shotwell froze.Checked my photos folder, the photos haven't been copied there yet. Checked the camera; It's empty.There were 2 sqlite databases (.tmp files) in /tmp. Copied. In an ideal world, region 0 would be even better.k9copy works fine as far as copying, but the region is kept. I haven't found any setting in k9copy to change the region - is there one? Having avoided iPods as "defective by design", I know nothing about iTunes whatsoever. However I remember reading about DRM locking and such problems that have me concerned that I won't be able to do it.
Where does iTunes store its stuff?
Can I copy its data store to an external drive, and then into a linux home?
Then will it work on wine, or can another manager (rhythmbox etc) access the itunes data?
Alternatively, if I partition the drive and install linux, can rythmbox/wine/something access itunes data on the win partition?
Supposing they are buying music through iTunes, what will happen to that account?
Finally, one of them has an iphone. Does that work with linux?
Ironic that an apple application is blocking migration away from windows.
No problems with CD-RW, but DVD+RW are being blanked in an incorrect way. Ubuntu cannot recognize them at all after the blanking. I have to take the disks to another computer having Windows installed to blank them via Nero, and after that I they become OK for burning in Ubuntu via Brasero. I've got an old LG CD/DVD drive which was working fine in Windows. Who can recommend another program for CD/DVD burning for Ubuntu 10.04? (correctly blanking, certainly) I have installed the suggested updates for Brasero but of no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have earlier downloaded many video and picture files to blank DVD's using Brasero with ubuntu. But now most attempts fail. This might be after upgrading to latest ubuntu, but then again maybe this is not the cause, 'cos maybe once in 6 attempts brasero works ok.
It seems to take a long time - maybe 40 mins - for brasero to go through it's job, and the dvds look ok, but cannot read anything. This is a lot longer than when things worked well.
I am burning an ISO of Ubuntu 9.10 amd 64 desktop edition. I am using the same operating system but need to burn the ISO to do a clean install.

I created a few 'images' with Brasero a few days ago to burn at a future point in time, today. The first thing I noticed while copying the 'images' is that there were two files, one sans extension and one .toc, not the single .iso I'm used to dealing with.Unfortunately I did not have internet access while copying so I was unable to obtain clarification or how to proceed. So now I have around 50 of these pairs I would like nvert to music CDs.After much Googling I have yet to obtain any relevant info on how to proceed.

It first gave an error that cdda2wav was not installed but that is not true and now I get this general error. I'm installing K3B as we speak but I prefer to keep a straight Gnome installation.

I was trying to burn a .wav file to CD but Brasero ejects the media without burning anything after transcoding the wav file and creating an image. When I start creating the Video DVD project, I drag my 2GB of files into the project window, Brasero recognizes the blank DVD as having 4GB, but then reports there is insufficient space to burn the selected files and do I want to use multiple discs. Running Ubuntu 10.04, and have accepted all automatic updates as they come out.

Today i tried to burn a dvd but i failed. When i was adding the folders, brasero poped up a message saying that it need to rename some files to make them windows compatible,i accepted the change and proceed. Everything was looking good, but qhen it tried to burn, brasero said it cannot burn the image and failed. Asked if i want to save the log file and i did it, but it has no info!
I tried diferent combinations to burn the dvd (removing the files that need to be renamed, even i tried to burn the files to a iso image) and alwas fail exactly with te same error in the same step.I instaled the gstreamer packages from packman and all looks good.Any idea whats going on? Also, if someone has the same problem, maybe it's a bug in brasero that needs to be reported: if so, how can i get usefull info to report it?
I tried the above using an existing multisession CD where data files were previously burned in a different pc using K3b. However, when the burning was completed successfully, the CD could not be read at all. I repeated the process with a blank CD choosing to leave it open in order to add more data later. All went well and the CD was readable but when I tried to add data to the same CD I got the message

I opted not to continue despite the temptation to see how invisible files can be read.
To sum it up, I find this turn of events absolutely appalling given that Brasero is the default software for CD burning in my system (Xubuntu 9.10). Can anyone tell me how to resolve this glaring shortcoming of Brasero so as to keep all my data files easily accessible in multisession CDs?
This happens every time I try to burn an audio CD burning data CD seems to work fine.I open Brasero, click Audio project, drag a couple of FLAC files into it and try to burn, or in this particular case, create an image.A dialogue pops up where I am supposed to tell it where to put the image. I am attempting to backup DVDs that I own to .iso format so that I'm able to watch them using xbox media center. I've simply been copying the entire DVD to my HD in .iso using brasero.When I watch the .iso file in XBMC, the audio is a fraction of a second ahead of the video. The gap between the audio and video doesn't seem to change over the duration of the clip.
What are the likely causes of this issue? I've read that it could be a slow processor, little ram, or inadequate video card. If it's indeed a hardware issue, I suppose I'm SOL with my current laptop: a 2006 dell with a core 2 duo processor, 2GB ram, and a middle of the road video card at that time.Is there any software tweak I can explore to get the .iso file to sync properly?Also, I know it's customary for posters to list their system specifications, but I don't know how to call up my software or hardware setups.
I've encountered a problem when trying to burn a video file to DVD using Brasero Disc Burner. I put the DVD and then open up Brasero and click on "video protect" then I chose the video file I want to burn, I click the "burn" button and choose the settings I want then when press the "burn" button once more.
I then get this screen...

I've been burning a few linux ISOs lately to play around on a desktop I have (archlinux, Fedora, etc) and a few days ago Brasero stopped launching. I tried to uninstall/reinstall Brasero, but it still didn't work. There we no error messages, it would just try to start up, and quit.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI set up a data project to burn a bunch of files onto a CD. I want to backup the files. I went to edit > plugins and selected "File Checksum" and set it to SHA1. Will Brasero now automatically (as part of the burning process) calculate and then compare the SHA1 for the file on the HDD with the file that is burned to the CD? If the two SHA1 comparisons do not match then Brasero will kick up a dialog window alerting me? Do I understand how this works correctly? as long as the plugin is enabled this is all automatic? Is the "Image Checksum" plugin only in use when I am burning an ISO?
