Ubuntu Multimedia :: Brasero Video DVD Burning - Ejecting Medium
Feb 16, 2011I've encountered a problem when trying to burn a video file to DVD using Brasero Disc Burner. I put the DVD and then open up Brasero and click on "video protect" then I chose the video file I want to burn, I click the "burn" button and choose the settings I want then when press the "burn" button once more.
I then get this screen...
It then ejects the DVD and I get this...

Jul 19, 2010Today i tried to burn a dvd but i failed. When i was adding the folders, brasero poped up a message saying that it need to rename some files to make them windows compatible,i accepted the change and proceed. Everything was looking good, but qhen it tried to burn, brasero said it cannot burn the image and failed. Asked if i want to save the log file and i did it, but it has no info!
I tried diferent combinations to burn the dvd (removing the files that need to be renamed, even i tried to burn the files to a iso image) and alwas fail exactly with te same error in the same step.I instaled the gstreamer packages from packman and all looks good.Any idea whats going on? Also, if someone has the same problem, maybe it's a bug in brasero that needs to be reported: if so, how can i get usefull info to report it?

May 17, 2010I have tried to burn dvd's using Brasero, after making the dvd etc I choose to burn as a video, but it gets to around 95% of converting the file to MPEG2 or 4 (Tried both) and just sits there doing nothing!I even left it over night to see if that helped but no joy.

Ubuntu :: Brasero Refuses To Eject Disk?
Aug 20, 2010I am using Brasero 2.30.2 on Ubuntu 10.04. The problem is that whenever I use Brasero to burn any CD/DVD, it burns it but refuses to eject, although I always select the option to eject disk after burning. Instead, it displays a message saying something like "Please eject the disk manually to finish the burning process".

Jun 10, 2011I used to burn CDs/DVDs with Brasero on my old Dell PC running various Ubuntu distros, till it started producing faulty discs. There were other problems with the old machine, so I started burning discs on my Toshiba laptop (Ubuntu 10.04) using Brasero - no problems at all. Now I've got a new Dell (Ubuntu 11.04) and, strangely, when I tried to burn some CDs with Brasero, it took 5 attempts to get 2 good discs - not a good success rate. Tried again with Open CD/DVD Creator on the Dell - no problem. 100% success. So is it Brasero? Is it Dell? Is it newer Ubuntus? The discs haven't changed, they're Verbatim.

Jun 5, 2011Last week I could burn dvd's and cd's and had no problem. I did the latest kernal upgrade for Ubuntu 10.04 yesterday and today I cannot get K3B or Brasero to recognize any type of medium weather blank or filled. Looked on the forum and there appears a bug in the kernal. Is there a workaround? If so how do I use it.

Feb 12, 2011I have tried burning media files as data into a DVD (-R). Failed every time. It simulates the burn, and when it starts burning it sometimes ejects the media and at other times just says that it cannot eject the DVD and that it has to be done manually. After the DVD is ejected it errors out.Attaching the log file.

Nov 3, 2010I want to burn an iso file to my DVD-r, i use brasero and yesterday have upgraded to 10.10 NBR (UBUNTU RULES- I HAVE HAD IT FOR 2 YRS!) when i click on the 'burn image' tab on the brasero menu all is well but then when i click the properties and click on 2.0x speed (my friends drive can't read anything set any higher than 2.0x) it does not save that property and it goes and burns at much higher speeds like 3.4X. p.s does anyone know how to get rid of the deleted items icon on the 10.10 NBR menu

Jan 10, 2010I see there are a lot of other threads on this subject, but I don't find any solution in the other threads. I have been trying to burn cd's directly in Ubuntu, using Brasero, which was already installed. Why does it not work? It says that an "unknown error occurred" or something like that. I don't remember the exact error message right now. I am now burning cd's in "Gnomebaker" which I found in the applications list. This works fine, but only at the speed of 4x, no faster. I hope to get the brasero application to work, as this is the easiest, fastest way, just dragging files to the cd.

Jun 10, 2010I'm having trouble burning a DVD via command line or Brasero. The DVD Burner is the only IDE Device in the system. Although Disk Utility seems to display it as SCISI. Originally Ubuntu would only see the drive but do nothing when a DVD is inserted it. atleast recognizes the DVD now.

Aug 17, 2010I was trying to make a copy of a DVD recently. I started with Brasero, and when that didn't work, I installed k3b. Both came back w/similar symptoms. Neither burned the DVD and seemed to hang up. When either program stopped/hung, I checked on the file that was being captured from the original DVD and discovered that both programs produced a max file of 1.5 GB (source was 6+ GB). I checked the size of the partition where the file was being temporarilty stored and there is 18 GB of space.

For brasero I see that you need an md5 file but it will be to tedious to use an md5 utility to make a checksum for every file and then put in in a txt.

Aug 29, 2010After successfully playing a DVD video (w/VLC) I close VLC, eject the DVD, then insert another disk. I get an error message: "Error mounting: mount: /dev/sr0 already mounted or /media/{name of previous disk} busy." But mount command doesn't show /dev/sr0 and ls /media shows nothing. I have to log out, then log back in in order to play another video. (same result with mplayer)

Jun 23, 2010It happens regardless of which DVD I put in the tray.
Initially, openSUSE recognizes that the DVD is, in fact, there. I go to any one media player, play the DVD, and exit when I'm done.
And then the DVD is gone. As far as openSUSE is concerned, anyway. I cannot eject the tray to remove the DVD, which prompts a total reboot.
Is there any way to dispose of this problem?

Apr 7, 2011I have started to use K3b for ripping my CDs to flac files in order to put them on a NAS but have a few niggles with how it works.
I used to use Grip and in many ways preferred the interface and flexibility but had to change because I didn't know how to increase the number of attempts made by cdparanoia to rip difficult tracks and Grip fell down on one particular brand new CD opera set.
After posting queries here Asunder was suggested, among others and although (I understand,) Asunder also rips using cdparanoia, it succeeded on a CD where Grip failed. It also had a reasonable interface and it was easy to adjust tagging before ripping. Unfortunately Asunder has recently failed on another CD so I decided to try K3b.
K3b allows me to adjust the number of retries and this has been sufficient to enable me to overcome the most recalcitrant CDs. Great, but in many other respects K3b is a pain to use. I cannot find how to get it to eject the CD once ripping has been completed. Even after the CD has been ejected the track tags remain in the display until a new CD is loaded and the tagging interface is limited.

May 24, 2011Apart from KsCD and CD Player, (both of which are pretty good, but very basic), I have found it impossible to eject any music CD or DVD on any of the following:
Amarok
JuK
Media Kaffeine
MPlayer and
SMPlayer,
there does not seem to be any button, command or whatever to get the CD or DVD out of the drive, so now find that only way, is to stop player and then to open CD Player and use the eject button there.

Apr 30, 2015On my a few years old 64-bit Debian oldstable/Wheezie machine, I noticed my SATA DVD writer drive likes to close right away after I tell KDE v4.8.4's Dolphin to eject it. If I use terminal's eject command, then it will stay ejected until I manually close the drive. Why is that happening?
