Apr 17, 2010
I downloaded Wine from [URL] and installed Wine 1.1.32 and it stated that I'm missing a file can anyone tell me what the deal is? do I need something more or ignore it?
when I tried to install wine I got "Missing Dependency: wine-gecko is needed by package wine"so I looked for wine-gecko and download it but also when I tried to install it I got "Missing Dependency: wine-gecko is needed by package wine"it seems that I am in loop each package need the other what to do please?
How can I uninstall / purge wine and any wine installed windows programs?I've tried deleting .wine (hidden folder)but in /usr/bin/ there are a number of wine related files. And wine sub menu still appears in Applications menu
My Proteus which i installed through wine does not appear in uninstall wine software and it also does not work because you have to execute some license file which i did not figure out how to work it out.
I want to install NV driver for my Geforce MX 440 on opensuse 11.0,but i got a error means miss modversions.h file in kernel source directory(I have install kernel source, gcc)after that i searched this file in my disk, and did not find it.
I am new to fedora and installed wine to see if I could get the sony reader software working (required to access sony bookstore from my sony ereader). Well the program did not work though it did create icons on my desktop. wine kept crashing and I said lets just get rid of it. I uninstalled wine via yum remove and nothing appeared to happen so I did rpm -qa |grep wine and saw lots of stuff. So I simply did yum remove wine* and then a rpm -qa |grep wine was empty. however wine is still under applications on my desktop and still has a category for programs--reader. I should also mention that while wine was installed I attempted to remove the reader via the wine uninstalller but a) wine gave a message of a core crash and b) all the uninstaller did was give me the option to reinstall the reader program. so now when I attempt to open an epub it tries with the sony reader software. I know I can just right click to use another program but for now I want wine gone completely from my pc and the sony program gone.
How can I install wine with just the wine-1.1.35.tar.bz2 file? I have it on the computer via file transfer on cdrw. I need wine to install the software for my wireless usb so I can connect to the internet
Trying to mount my NTFS file system (portable hard drive) so that is can be recognized by a program I have installed in wine (seagate manager). I've tried to change the mount point for the drive to /home/.wine/c_drive but that doesn't seem to do the trick, and messing around with the fstab file just results in error messages when I try to mount/unmount the drive.
who to change the mount point properly? /dev/sbd1 is my partition.
Either that or does anyone know how to configure wine so that it will find my drive? I've tried adding an e: drive to the drives tab and mapped it to mediaSimons' Seagate (partition label), but that doesn't seem to do the trick either.
I've installed wine several times in ubuntu 11.04 but after the installation when i click on the wine icon it gives an warning message "The file 'wine' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit."
I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.10 and the version of Wine in the standard repository. In the past, when I've installed wine, it automatically gave me a Programs menu from which I could launch all the Windows programs I installed. That menu is now missing.I tried uninstalling Wine, removing the ~/.wine folder, and removing all references to wine and wine programs in ~/.local/share... with no effect.can't get the Programs menu to come back.
I come from windows!!! For the life of me, I can't find the (Wine) install environment with the Thunar file manager. For some reason, after i installed wine it doesn't have a link that takes me to the C: drive that Thunar used to open so I could access what I installed thats only compatible with windows, such as World Of Warcraft. I'm bound and determined there has got to be another way to find it!
I have a Dell mini 9 or 10 (not sure which one) running Ubuntu 8.04. When trying to watch ..... clips it says install missing plugins. I have tried most of the work arounds on these forums but can't get it to work. I have therefore downloaded the latest version of Netbook Ubuntu and put it on a pendrive. Can someone kindly tell me if installing the new Ubuntu will solve my problem and how do I do this?I am okay on a computer but not great. I am after step by step instructions on how to uninstall and then install
I was trying to install Ubuntu for long time and abandoned the idea a few times because of the same technical problem which seems to pop over and over again. ive been trying to install it after using an XP system or a Win 7 OP, and every time i faced the same Error again again- "wubildr.mbr file is missing". i installed it from a CD and tried the Wubi program too but both gave me the same error at the end. i have a decent PC with 2 hard drives, 1 of 500gbs and the other with 160gbs(which is used for the OP's). the goal was to install Ubuntu alone with no other operation systems in other partitions. Now i thought to use the Full Format of the Win XP which takes about half an hour or probably more and then installed the Ubuntu system, i got some different error which goes like this- "Windows rootsystem32hal.dll missing"
Normally wine works well for me but I'm having trouble with one particular Windows app called Communicator, a voip softphone. The app starts up and the window is put on the screen but there is no text. Check boxes are drawn and filled and input boxes are shown, but still no text. All my system fonts are installed for wine to work. Here is the output if I run from the command line:
[Code]....
I'm suspicious about the line above: err:module:import_dll Library QtSvg4.dll but I'm not sure what to do because the file DOES exist in the referenced directory.
I'm fairly new to Linux... I deleted the wine Icon from the main menu, because I mistakenly thought it was something left over from my last Wine installation.I installed the latest Wine, because I ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE MS Office 2007 for one of my college classes. Now that the new Wine is installed the icon is still gone... How can I replace this.
I have installed ubuntu 10.4 as a dual boot with Windows 7. I thought, because of a previous experience, that my music and pictures were ok in the windows file system because I would be able to access them. Well I can't. I don't even see the the Windows c: drive. I know its still there because I can boot windows.
So what do I need to do to make the c: volume / drive reappear.
I have installed windows 7 back to its former state in after foolishly messing around with some installation options in an Ubuntu install (this caused windows to disappear, and me to repair it). In *repairing* windows, I overwrote my grub file and the boot options for Ubuntu, so that it looks something like this:
Disk 1: Primary Partition - Windows 7 Disk 1: Secondary Partition - Windows 7 Disk 1: Secondary Partition - Free Space ( this is where I have Ubuntu installed)
How can I repair my grub file so that I can boot into my Ubuntu installation?
Whenever I try to run a windows game under Wine I get an error that depict I have no proper sound driver. I checked the wine config and there was only OSS option that I think it would not help me to get sound working. I think I have to use Alsa Instead but I don't know how to add Alsa support to wine. By the way in need DirectSound as well. should i download it myself and add it to system32 or there is a better way?
I used to have Windows XP Professional on my computer, then I decided to install Ubuntu but it didn't work for me it gave me really weird errors, I thought I uninstalled it, and then I installed Debian on my computer, Debian ran smoothly but when I tried to start Windows the GRUB from ubuntu appeared and when I tried to start windows again it showed and that the hal.dll was missing, I reinstalled Windows but still the same error appeared, this also affected my Debian GRUB so I had to install it again, I don't know what I should do in this case. How can I delete ubuntu's GRUB for good? I've already formatted my windows partition but it keeps using Ubuntu's GRUB.
I am trying to reinstall ubuntu on my asus eee netbook. When I try to open ubuntu an error message appears saying that this file <windowsroot>system32hal.dll.> is corrupt or missing. How to I reinstall this file/what happened?
When trying to get wine I do got this error. Missing Dependency: kernel >= 2.6.29.1-52.fc11 is needed by package libdrm-2.4.11-2.fc11.i586 (updates) As I understand I must update my kernel before I can move on. How do I do that? I would want a RPM package if that's available.
I am having a problem trying to install KindleForPc with wine in Fedora 12. Wine installs and runs but is missing a class needed by Kindle. Notepad, regedit, etc run but there is a problem when I run the Kindle Installer.Attempting to install Kindle I run
Code: wine KindleForPc-installer.exe it runs to completion two windows appears they have a windows look, as it intiializes. Then it returns to the command line prompt. Shortly after it returns to the command line I get a series of error messages. Perhaps the installer finishes and then tries to start Kindle. I have typed their essence below:
Code: fixme:system:SetProcessDPIAware stub! class {6e4feb12-510a-4d40-9304-1da10ae9147c} not registered CLSCTX_REMOTE_SERVER not suppported no class server could be created for context 0x17
Kindle does not show up in the configuration utility and when I try to run it from the command line it complains that some classes are not registered. My understanding is that yum has a list of the component packages required by wine, and the person who prepared the list thought it had loaded all that was needed for wine, but it did not include the package that has the classes that I need. On the web there are a number of postings that tell how well Kindle works under Linux, and none of them deals with doing anything more than installing wine. I assume that in those cases the install procedure loaded the classes I need. My hope is that someone with more knowledge than I can give me a pointer on how to proceed.
The DVD disk is from LinuxFormatMagazine, and PCLOS is the ISO that boots. It has 10.10 on it also, but that isn't the ISO that loads by default. Do I have to transfer the 10.10 file, and burn it to a new ISO? Or can I run or install it from its' current file type on the DVD?
I have WINE installed and need to mount some disc image files, I posted in general help because this is just relating to the mounting. I have various formats other that .iso, i have .img, .ccd, .bin, etc. How would I would go about doing this? I have something called gmount-iso but it only mounts iso's.
I can't remove nor uninstall the wine programs. I have tried the uninstaller that comes with wine but it doesnt work. How can I remove them from the start menu and the uninstall list as if they never existed on my pc? The only thing I can do is to remove the files.
is it possible to use a terminal to install/run currently installed WINE apps...? if so, please let me know how to do so, i'm trying to run my guild wars game client, and its saying that the program doesn't have sufficient priveleges to run...
EDIT: i think i figured it out, but it gives me this code:
