In the "software sources" windows under the "Updates" tab I have checked "Pre-released updates" and installed all the updates. I no longer want to track the proposed updates and have unchecked that item. Now am back to just security and recommended checked. How do i get it to downgrade the packages that it has modified when I had "Pre-released" checked? I want to get back on the stable "Recommended Updates". It seems to have changed what it looks at for updates but did not downgrade the packages.

The only thing I don't know how to do, is get a list of proposed updates after sudo apt-get-update, like the update manager shows me after I pressed the "check" button. So today I did an update and my gui changed. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 64bit I reset gnome but it will not go away. In the picture you can see those little boxes and the lite blue frame on firefox. I have no idea what this is but it's annoying.

The next thing was to research the thread and I even found something. However, the solution suggested didn't work at all. - not able to update the system referring to the launchpad main sources for 11.04

I no longer want that my system is updated from pre-released updates(lucid proposed). About 50 packages are from lucid proposed and i want to downgrade them all. I know how to downgrade a package but i don't know how to downgrade all the packages at once (so that all 50 packages would be downgraded simultaneously).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running Jolicloud on my netbook (which I believe is an Ubuntu derivative) and I am tried to enter the getdeb.net sources in so I can install apps from the website through APT but
1) When I entered the sources into sources.list and then the key into Terminal and then went to the site and tried to install an app it didn't work.
2) I deleted the line of code in the sources.list file and when I opened terminal and entered "sudo apt-get update" it showed the list of sources, but on the list were Getdeb.net sources.
My question is how do I delete sources that aren't in /etc/apt/sources.list ?
im installing fedora13. I need to install it as multi boot. I used a live cd to load up the live version of fedora on my computer and i started the installation setup. The problems im facing are: I cannot uncheck my usb drive when the setup asks me where do i need to install fedora. When i select "shrink current system" it shows my hard drive but says it has 0 bytes. I cannot proceed further because of the above problems.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from Fedora 10 to 11. After the upgrade, I was unable to update the system and my Software Sources does not display any repositories at all. Yum didn't work also. I tried a couple of things from similar problems posted in the forum, but it didn't help in my case. I get this if I ask yum for the repolist.

For some reason Update Manager is not installing updates as of yesterday.I have it set to check daily and notify if updates are available. It has been working without issues for well over a year now.
Update Manager tells me updates are available and presents the list of security, recommended, and other updates. All are selected to update, but when I select Install Updates in Update Manager it returns with a Reading Package Information window overlaid on the main Update Manager window - building dependency tree then reading state information and dumps me back to the main Update Manager window without performing any update actions.
Probably a simple question, but i was wondering why is there a new kernel available (2.6.34) which is not proposed in apt-get update? Now I've got to download .deb files and upgrade manually. I would like to be able to install unstable / testing releases for packages. I have checked everything in software sources, but I still don't get the newest kernel proposed. Another question: what are "backports"?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled Fedora 11 last night because i saw that I could leave out packages that I don't need by unchecking everything in the software selection screen. Anaconda installed about 179 packages and I rebooted. I installed X, GDM, and LXDE, but whenever, I start GDM, all the fonts show up as random boxes, ie. there's no english on the sceen, just boxes. I'm pretty sure that i forgot to install a font that fedora uses for gdm but i don't know which one to install.

The rtree builds (albeit I have a superfluous extra checkbox in there I don't know where it comes from...) but I cannot check/uncheck any boxes.
I've run in to a weird problem where i cant uncheck the "pre-released updates" box...I had recently checked it to get a glimpse at what kinds of updates would be available with the option checked so i tried it and updated my repository. The problem is now i cant uncheck it again or any of the options for that matter. Is there a way to reset the repository settings to default?
I also would like to know if kde keeps a history of installed packages..since i couldnt uncheck the box i went ahead and installed everything thinking it might let me uncheck it afterwards (stupid i know), but seeing as how im pretty newbie, i dont want to take the chances of some package breaking

For some reason, Nautilus tells me that Ubuntu's default Videos folder (there is data in this folder) is synced on Ubuntu One when it is not. I have checked on the Ubuntu One website, and the site says the Videos folder is not synced (Ubuntu One's website does not show the Videos folder under "my synced folders"). When I attempt to uncheck the sync option in Nautilus, the loader next to it spins endlessly, or Nautilus gives me an error that it can not sync the folder.

I have everything pretty much locked down but when I go into the gconf-editor under /apps/nautilius/preferences/show_desktop and uncheck the check box my mouse pointer changes to the circle icon that looks like it moves in a circle. Sortta like the busy or what it does during boot. Hard to describe by typing it out but if you make that change you'll see what I am talking about. I had this setup like this in previous versions of openSUSE so I am not sure what it is doing or what else I need to do to make the mouse pointer just the arrow like normally. I don't want the users to be able to right-click on the desktops to get a menu nor add icons so unchecking the show_desktop has served my needs.
