I just upgraded to 9.10 and all the windows for all programs have the minimize/maximize/close boxes on the left side. No big deal, but for decades they've been on the right. Is this something in my computer? If so, can I do something to get them over where they belong?
View 4 RepliesI dont want the buttons at the right side, as in windows, I liked them at the left, but when I choose GTK in compiz fusion, they go to the right side as in windows, they only work at the left side using emerald, but no with GTK, someone can help me to keep the buttons at the left?, I dont know why they have changed to right side.

Yesterday I allowed all updates to be installed. My system was upgraded from Karmic to Lucid.I have the following post upgrade installation.Fire Fox does not show a maximize,minimize or exit buttons.I searched online and tried the follow:

My gf recently upgraded her Dell laptop from Karmic to Lucid but has since experienced some issues with the windowing system. Is called Metacity? - I'd call it the "chrome" of the windows, eg. the title bar, maximise & close buttons etc.The description of the problem she's given me is as follows: "Every time I turn my laptop on it comes up with a small window and when I access the internet, it wont let me maximise/minimise the window.
I have to go to System/Appearances/Visual Effects and reset it to Normal. This then resolves the problem. But the next time I open my laptop, the settings have been forgotten and I have to go through the same process again." It's taken me ages to steer her away from windows but she's had a few problems since upgrading and she's thinking about heading back to the "dark side"...
After upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04, at first everything worked fine. Then i changed the compiz configuration to cube, confirmed some questions, and now i have no window decorations. No icons for close, minimize, maximize. No resizing by mouse. No title bar.
In the launcher, i lost applications and files&?, and in the top menu bar, i lost the leftmost part, where some menus and the Ubuntu icon were found.
When I click the Firefox icon, normally I can maximize and minimize in the window (either top or bottom panel). This has disappeared and I am not sure why. I had installed [URL... and suddenly after deleting/cleaning it up/restoring panels I cannot see why or how I can easily maximize or minimize any panel, not just Firefox.

I looked around on the forums and i didn't see any other posts about this problem. I'm sorry if i might have over looked one though. Anyways, the buttons are not on the left or the right, they just don't show up. I tried messing with the theme settings and I also tried some of the things that were recommended on the main sticky about bugs with Lucid, and i still don't have them. just go to your terminal and type this: (replacing /where/you/put/it/ with where you actually put the file) "sh /where/you/put/it/MoveButtonsToRight.sh"
Most of these threads relate to missing buttons or moving them to the right side. However, I'd like to know whether it is possible to get the buttons to show normally on the title bar instead of the panel? I think having the buttons on the panel is butt ugly and fairly inconvenient.
