Fedora Hardware :: Black Screen \ Can Force A Shutdown, Login And Get The Same Black Screen?
Mar 6, 2010I was messing around with the screen orientation and thought it would be funny to orient it sideways. Big mistake The screen went black.I can force a shutdown, login and I get the same black screen. I tried hooking up an external monitor and the monitor showed no input so I'm guessing my laptop doesn't have that capability with Fedora.This is my main computer.

I have tried all resoulotions but nothing works.
It was same in windows, but I could just change a small setting by right clicking on my desktop. but how do I do it in Ubuntu?
I mean... My screen look good, and have right res when I'm not playing a game. But when a game starts it gives me 2 black bars. D:
I use 12800*800. It was standard and it is the only one that works.

Jul 4, 2011I use playonlinux to install the games, so I don't install them manually.Also I think it might have something to do with the graphics settings I did when it told me to install a version of Wine to make the game work. I have no idea how many gigabyte or megabyte my graphics card is so I selected the highest number.

Mar 17, 2011I use Intel HD Graphics and every time I run a game, it black-screens and I have to restart a thousand times before the game works and I can switch to windowed mode (restart once to do this).

I also use an HDMI cord (since computer has HDMI support) so this may be contributing to the problem. The same does not occur with my laptop, which runs Nvidia graphics and Ubuntu. I really want this to not happen so I can play my games instantly without restarting a million times. Some games have yet to work (AssaultCube mostly).
OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Black Screen On Exiting Full Screen Games?
Jul 18, 2010OpenSuse 11.3 with nVidia drivers.I have the screen working fine though it only runs in 1600x1200@75 using the nVidia driver (GTX260 card).When I play a game in full screen mode all seems OK but when I exit the game then I just get the mouse pointer on a black screen.There must be something present since the cursor changes as I move it, normal pointer -> hand over a link etc. It's just that black on black isn't very readable.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: M-AUDIO DELTA 1010LT 10.04 - No Sound
May 2, 2010I'm pretty much an Ubuntu noob and I'm about to give up. I've spent hours reading tips and tricks to get this sound card working but I usually end up making things worse. This will be my last attempt
- onboard sound is disabled in BIOS
- Delta 1010LT is recognized
- fresh Ubuntu 10.04 32bit install . . . everything is default.
- I know how to access the terminal and for argument's sake, let's say that's it. I need step by step.
I tried to remove all instances of pulse audio in the past and it removed the desktop as well. Talk about frustrating. Ok, so here I am. Fresh install, no sound and I haven't touched a thing.

Oct 14, 2010I'm not too experienced on Ubuntu, but I'm trying to get a Delta 1010LT working on Ubuntu 10.04 minimal install (no gnome, only console).I can see the board detected using lspci, but looking at dmesg output I get the following:

if a change the model to delta1010 the driver is loaded correctly, but I assume there are major differences between the two boards so I don't get audio out, even if I unmute everything using alsamixer.Motherboard is an Intel D510MO with onboard audio disabled.
Fedora :: List Files From A Delta RPM?
Jul 16, 2011How can I see the list of files - e.g. patched files - of a delta RPM file ? I can convert the drpm file into a cpio archive with rpm2cpio tool but cpio -i produces a Malformed number along with scrambled characters in the output.

Feb 25, 2009I've joined this forum because I couldn't find any answer anywhere else by searching the internet. I've installed a F10 64-bit default installation (with updates until 25 Feb. 2009), using nvidia latest proprietary driver, pulseaudio, kde4, proprietary flash 10 beta 64-bit plugin with firefox. When I play music on Myspace the sound dropouts randomly each 3 to 30 seconds when using my M-Audio Delta 66 soundcard.
I'm using the same configuration in F8 without this problem. After login (in F10) and some other times I also have a Kernel failure message: ALSA sound/core/pcm_lib.c:154: BUG: stream = 1, pos = 0xaaa, buffer size = 0xaaa, period size = 0xaaa I don't know if it has got anything to do with the dropouts. There are no messages in /var/log/messages when the dropouts occurs.

Jun 3, 2010I have noticed that the updates to my f12 64bit systems are running longer due to the fact that fewer fedora updates are delta rpms. Why is this. I know that rpmfusion updates and other third party updates are not covered.

I realize it's primarily a recording card (and that's what i bought it for) but ideally I'd like to use it for all sound functions on this computer and throw my crappy Audigy card away. What I need to figure out is how I can route left and right stereo sound to two of the mono outputs on the D44 (for instance, output 1 might be left and output two could be right). General :: Why Doesn't Rsync Use Delta-transfer For Local Files?
Jan 17, 2011I have a big iso image which is currently being downloaded by a torrent client with space-reservation turned on: that means, file size is not changing while some chunks in in (4 Mib) are constantly changing because of a download.
At 90% download I do the initial rsync to save time later:
$ rsync -Ph DVD.iso /media/another-hdd/
sending incremental file list
DVD.iso
[Code]....
Then, when the file's fully downloaded, I rsync again:
total size is 2.60G speedup is 1.00
Speedup=1 says delta-transfer was not used, although 90% of the file has not changed, target dir is on another FS and copying takes several minutes. Why doen't it try to speedup the transfer?! How can I force rsync to use delta-transfer?

Jun 1, 2010I am having some issues with getting Ubuntu Studio 10.04 to work correctly on my system. Everything works fine except sound. I have a M-Audio Delta 66 audio interface and my onboard sound is disabled. When I run the command alsaconf I can see the ICE1712 card without issue. However when I run alsamixer the only option it is giving me is my HD sound from my ATI video card. For some reason it seems the ATI card has locked the audio to it with no way to remove it. I have reinstalled the alsa drivers for my card and can only see it through alsaconf. When I tell alsaconf to configure the ICE1712 card it says it configured it properly.When I run the command envy24control it says no ICE1712 cards were found.

Oct 21, 2010When Ambiance is selected as the theme, the broadcast box in the "Me Menu" is black text on a near black background. Changing the "Input Boxes" color changed the color of that boxes background on every theme except Ambiance. The problem seems to be with having "Controls" set to Ambiance, because having any other theme customized with Ambiance controls selected causes this bug again.
I really don't want to use any of the other themes because I find them horrid in comparison. how to fix this bug, or if someone would be kind enough to post a proper bug report for this? Can anyone else recreate this error on theirs?

Jan 4, 2010I just made the switch from windows xp and i am very glad i did. One problem though, I cant get steam games to run right. I have steam installed on an external hard drive and can start it up with wine but whenever i try to run a game, the "starting (game name here)" screen comes up and then disappears and the game doesn't open. I've tried several different tutorials on how to run steam but all they do is tell how to install it.I'm running ubuntu 9.10 x64 if that helps at all.
