I am using m-audio delta 1010 ( break out box) works perfect with opensuse 11.1 and 11.2 but is is not on the hardware compatiblitiy list. How to add? it is using alsa-tools.

I am having some issues with getting Ubuntu Studio 10.04 to work correctly on my system. Everything works fine except sound. I have a M-Audio Delta 66 audio interface and my onboard sound is disabled. When I run the command alsaconf I can see the ICE1712 card without issue. However when I run alsamixer the only option it is giving me is my HD sound from my ATI video card. For some reason it seems the ATI card has locked the audio to it with no way to remove it. I have reinstalled the alsa drivers for my card and can only see it through alsaconf. When I tell alsaconf to configure the ICE1712 card it says it configured it properly.When I run the command envy24control it says no ICE1712 cards were found.

I've installed a F10 64-bit default installation (with updates until 25 Feb. 2009), using nvidia latest proprietary driver, pulseaudio, kde4, proprietary flash 10 beta 64-bit plugin with firefox. When I play music on Myspace the sound dropouts randomly each 3 to 30 seconds when using my M-Audio Delta 66 soundcard.
I'm using the same configuration in F8 without this problem. After login (in F10) and some other times I also have a Kernel failure message: ALSA sound/core/pcm_lib.c:154: BUG: stream = 1, pos = 0xaaa, buffer size = 0xaaa, period size = 0xaaa I don't know if it has got anything to do with the dropouts. There are no messages in /var/log/messages when the dropouts occurs.

I'm pretty much an Ubuntu noob and I'm about to give up. I've spent hours reading tips and tricks to get this sound card working but I usually end up making things worse. This will be my last attempt
- onboard sound is disabled in BIOS
- Delta 1010LT is recognized
- fresh Ubuntu 10.04 32bit install . . . everything is default.
- I know how to access the terminal and for argument's sake, let's say that's it. I need step by step.
I tried to remove all instances of pulse audio in the past and it removed the desktop as well. Talk about frustrating. Ok, so here I am. Fresh install, no sound and I haven't touched a thing.
I'm using 64bit Ubuntu 9.10 and my sound card is not working. I'v tried to install oss drivers, but there is no effect.

The following packages have no delta rpms in 11.2: acroread - Adobe Reader ,java-1_6_0-sun, java-1_6_0-sun-plugin, Opera Web Browser, flash-player A quick check on 11.0 and 11.1 update repos shows that there are delta rpms for latest acrobat reader, sun java and opera updates. Is this a new Novell/openSUSE policy and has there been an anouncement made to inform users.

Some versions ago you could do it normally. But now it's impossible. You can just move the thick line that indicates the limit of the print area.Has anybody noticed this? Is there any solution? In Ooo for Windoze it's possible, but I prefer not to use it unless is absolutely necessary.

When I do that and tell it not to apply the update, Yast exits and the Updater applet just tells me the update is still pending. I want to get rid of the update at least temporarily until Adobe fixes the dependency (assuming they ever do).
This is a major problem for me as I clearly don't intend to uninstall TweetDeck and AIR just for some security patch. Why didn't openSUSE test this patch for AIR compatibility?
I have a Dell Mini 1010 (came with windows) that i have installed Ubuntu 11.04 on.
I had to update the graphic drivers to the EMGD to get video to work and not be jumpy and it also gave me more options of resolution.
The problem i have is that HDMI out wont work at all. When plugged into my TV it wont pick it up as a second monitor.

all getting the same results, some of them are installing fine but when I reboot, I get an error message from X telling me there was an error and I can only move to low-graphics mode.
Used ubuntu to wipe my brother's new laptop of bloated non-responsive windozed7 and use entire drive for linux. still trying to sort what files to download to make the transition. Sharing internet for search and downloading, but this notebook will not be connected where it is going, so I'd like to have a comprehensive collection of required software to support and enhance the learning curve. He wanted Knoppix, but I read that Ubuntu was a good choice for this machine and we both want to make the switch to Linux. just too many flavours to choose from. I also have Knoppix 6.4 on disc, but haven't used it on any machine yet. My desktop is next ASUS P7P55D wintel 4-core. Can I use Ubuntu 1010 on it as well? I'm willing to surf and follow the links to learn, but my brother is off-grid and would need some offline documentation to be on the hard-drive.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have rented a server in a datawarehouse to host my mysql databases, subversion repositories, websites etc. I don't have physical access to this server (I don't even know the location of the data warehouse).
I connect over SSH (Putty) to this server.
When I login I get the message that new release "natty" is available (1104). Run "do-release-upgrade" to upgrade to it. I've never done an upgrade, so I'm afraid there has to be a reset during the upgrade process and a manual action on the machine itself to restart it.
Is it possible to do this upgrade without manual intervention, can somebody give me perhaps a pointer to a location of a good "howto"

I have behringer UCA202 usb card, after plug to usb, it just works , I have only small problem with alsamixer, which still shows by default my integrated HDA Intel, I could switch it by F6 or by alsamixer -c 1no problem, but I expect that default card is now plugged "USB audio", so why alsamixer recognize default audio device as HDA intel and not a USB Audio ?anyone who has two or more sound cards with the same issue ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of installing openSUSE-11.1 Gnome on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo 7400M laptop because the wireless in Gnome is much more user friendly than KDE3/KDE4 in openSUSE-11.1. The idea is to give this laptop to my 84-year old mother and things need to 'just work' for her (she currently has a desktop running openSUSE-11.1 KDE3 that uses a WIRED interface to the web).
I refuse to update this laptop to openSUSE-11.2 nor 11.3 (nor other recent distributions) because every kernel update after the 2.6.27 kernel has broken the Intel i855GM graphics drivers for that laptop. There are many bug reports and none have fixed the problem for this Fujitsu-Siemens implementation of the i855GM graphics.
Hence I am looking at Gnome.
I booted the laptop to a Gnome openSUSE-11.1 liveCD and wireless is easy and works great. But audio is very very VERY bad. It is incredibly user unfriendly and it does NOT work well. I assume that is because pulse audio in openSUSE-11.1 was very immature.

Currently my wife is using this laptop with KDE-4.4.4 (and openSUSE-11.1) so I can't just install Gnome and play with it without taking the laptop away from her for a while (note the hard drive is too small for a dual boot of KDE/Gnome).

okay, here are the details: can't play any audio with amarok when desktop effects are enabled because the minute a window is moved, it will distort the audio. even when disabling desktop effects, some applications still cause this. can't play videos videos even with desktop effects disabled because of the same reason.
i just switched from ubuntu and when i ran version 11.04, i had to disable kms to do anything. i tried on opensuse 11.4 and the audio was flawless but the gfx went all to hell.
on my PC I have 2 sound drivers, one from the mainboard (AC97) and one PCI card (ES1969). Because the mainboard sound path did not recording, I installed the PCI sound card and with 11.1, I managed it to play and record all audio data. With 11.2 the PCI sound path plays the system sounds (suse start-up or shut-down sounds) but not the streaming audio data (skype, flash player). But these are played by the mainboard audio instead. The audio-tests from yast->hardware->sound work for both paths. How should I configure the system to redirect the audio streams to the desired (PCI) audio path? The PCI audio is set as primary sound card and is not muted.

But, as you can see this person is using a different IP every time so fail2ban can't really stop see there is a reverse mapping check that catches this person occasionally.That's great and I assume that if the reverse mapping doesn't checkout, it would not allow the connection. Is this correct or would the reverse mapping allow them anyway?- I can't believe that this person has this many real IP addresses. So, why would the reverse mapping not pick up all these others, or are they really real?Last question: Is there anyway to pick up on this persons real IP and ban it? Perhaps have a fake login account that let's him think he is connecting... assuming a real IP would be needed for a connection.

How can I see the list of files - e.g. patched files - of a delta RPM file ? I can convert the drpm file into a cpio archive with rpm2cpio tool but cpio -i produces a Malformed number along with scrambled characters in the output.

if a change the model to delta1010 the driver is loaded correctly, but I assume there are major differences between the two boards so I don't get audio out, even if I unmute everything using alsamixer.Motherboard is an Intel D510MO with onboard audio disabled.

I realize it's primarily a recording card (and that's what i bought it for) but ideally I'd like to use it for all sound functions on this computer and throw my crappy Audigy card away. What I need to figure out is how I can route left and right stereo sound to two of the mono outputs on the D44 (for instance, output 1 might be left and output two could be right). I have a big iso image which is currently being downloaded by a torrent client with space-reservation turned on: that means, file size is not changing while some chunks in in (4 Mib) are constantly changing because of a download.
At 90% download I do the initial rsync to save time later:
$ rsync -Ph DVD.iso /media/another-hdd/
sending incremental file list
DVD.iso

Then, when the file's fully downloaded, I rsync again:
total size is 2.60G speedup is 1.00
Speedup=1 says delta-transfer was not used, although 90% of the file has not changed, target dir is on another FS and copying takes several minutes. Why doen't it try to speedup the transfer?! How can I force rsync to use delta-transfer?
