I am setting up the laptop for the family to use. I have my own user account, which is all set up nice and pretty. I need to make 3 new accounts for the rest of the family. Since my user account is all set up, I am hoping there is a way to copy this account's configuration (customized theme, compiz settings, edited menus, installed applications ie awn, etc...) to a new account.
View 4 RepliesI have a dual-boot Vaio, with Windows Vista (for WOW only,I promise!) and Ubuntu 10.10. I have a HDD with 250 GB, where 170GB is for Ubuntu and around 40 GB for Windows and a Swap that is 6 GB. This Swap seems a little too big, so how o I edit its size (make it smaller like 3GB) and then add the "free space"-leftovers to the big Ubuntu partition ( / )?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm helping a colleague with his laptop, he finds the fonts within programs too small and they hurt his eyes. We have tried changed the fonts using System>Appearances>Fonts. Changed the dpi resolution in the "Details" section, and tried changing the screen resolution, but this doesn't work or make it better.
I have attached a screen shot to show the problem. As I hope you can see, the font size on the desktop and top tool bar is much larger than within the programs.
Can anyone help, we have looked through all of the menus we can think of, but nothing makes the font bigger.
I've been tried to be system admin, programmer, network admin, or network engineer. So, I've been studying this and that... what so ever struggling to find my talent. Back in 2007-2008, I was MS server admin/comm tech. I saw a building running MS server for user computers and Red Hat 9 as a main system server. MS sever was a just one of the user accounts of Linux server. When I log in to Linux, I could see log menu to access MS server. How could somebody make this creative thing?I'm now a Network engineer because working with CISCO router and switch is easier than working as programmer or server admin. I've studied Oracle 10 and VMWARE also but there are ceasless stuffs that I need to study... For now, in regards of my limited brain power, network engineer is proper for me.

It freezes if I try to change my display settings and it tells me my graphics card is not recognized. I'm using Lucid Lynx. I tried to do a fresh start but grub loads before the ubuntu cd and/or usb drive.

I thought I installed properly, but once again I've made a mistake. I'm trying to make use of the 114 gb I didn't assign as file system space, but I can't seem to access it or write to it. If i go places > computer i do see a drive "250GB harddisk: 189gb filesystem"... I assume this is the free space mounted. However, inside that folder is "lost & found" with a x on it and i dont have permissions to write to the folder/space. I'm just looking for some advice on how i can use/access this free space.
